I used to love the explosion sequence after you destroyed the Quotile! The terrific explosion sound effects and electronic gibberish on the screen RULED! What a great way to reward the player for destroying the Quotile...more games should impliment such a satisfying explosion sequence!!!!

Here are the games that I consider "must-have" on the Jaguar platform: Tempest 2000 Iron Soldier Theme Park Sydnicate Cybermorph (preferably the circa 1993 2MB version!) Rayman Missile Command 3D Super Burnout Atari Karts Aliens Vs. Predator Power Drive Rally Defender 2000 In my experience, these are the BEST games for the system. That's not to say that the other games aren't good, but these titles truly stand out and are worth obtaining if you own a Jag.

I agree. The Atari version is great, but just like the NES version of Double Dragon, too much of the arcade feel is lost. Another thing that makes the game annoyingly difficult is how easy it is to accidentally detonate your flash bombs.

In my copy of DC Atari Anniversary Edition, the sticker was inserted loosely in the case. When I first opened the jewel case, the sticker fell out, so its possible that whoever opened your copy first either took the sticker or it fell out and got lost. It's just a small yellow sticker with the newer Fuji logo and the text "Atari" beneath it. I still have mine.

Did it come with the little yellow Atari logo sticker?

Radio Shack also has a gold-plated version (approx $2.99) which I bought and its the SAME EXACT thing that godsey's picture shows. The Radio Shack part # for the gold plated Phono-to-F plug is 278-276. Give this part # to the clerk if they can't find the one that godsey lists.

I definitely think the Mac version of Stella is far better than the WinNT version in terms of front end and screen size. At least you can play in a window on the Mac version!

$7 for Atari Anniversary Edition for Dreamcast? Was it new? The best price I've seen for that was $9.99 at Best Buy. Congrats on the good deals!

IT may just be me, but I think Dark Chambers resembles Berzerk and Adventure more than Gauntlet. Even the bullets you shoot are the same small horizontal pellets that you shoot in Berzerk! Great game nonetheless! My next task is to "complete" Secret Quest. Hopefully, that one has some sort of an ending.

Vanguard doesn't have an ending. YOu just keep playing the same levels over and over. Dark Chambers doesn't end...it just starts over at Level D with the same items and score you had when you clear Level Z.

There are currently 4 sealed "red packaged" Gravitars on ebay right now. I put a bid in for a copy for $3.25. All bids are currently under the $5 mark, so I'm guessing that this game (at least the red package version) isn't as rare as you may think.

I downloaded the ROM and I love this game, even more than the arcade version. The control is difficult to learn at first, but it can be mastered with practice. I think the ultra-precise nature of this game is what make it so fun!

Levels A,B and C do exist. You just have to start the game on an easier difficulty level. A,B and C are very easy rooms loaded with lots of powerups and health potions. It was probably done this way so you can stock up on the essential items and health for the later levels.

I didnt' realize that there was a 7800 version of Dark Chambers. I have been considering getting a 5200 or a 7800, so maybe the 7800 is a better choice. It would have been nice to get a tune, message, flashing screen, etc. when I cleared Level Z. I mean, the staircase was hidden in a doorway of this rather large room, so when it brought me back to Level D, I thought perhaps I chose an incorrect door which the programmers threw in just to increase the difficulty and replayability.

I already have a 2600 that I've owned since I was a child and I've been looking at adding either a 5200 or 7800 to my collection. Both systems seem to have great games....the 5200 has great versions of Pac-man that I'd like to get, while the 7800 has graphics more along the level of an 8bit NES and also 2600 compatibility, which is a plus. What's the best one?

The only portable systems that offered TV tuners were the Sega Game Gear and NEC TurboExpress. However, later production runs of the Game Gear were not compatible with the TV tuner, probably due to the fact that the GG used a low quality screen and maybe because the tuner didn't sell well enough for Sega to justify continued manufacturing and support for the peripheral.

I spent the two hours this evening playing through Dark Chambers with the goal of finally beating this cool game. I played my way up to Level Z which I presume is the final level and I had a score of 80,000 plus all the special weapons (gun, knife, shield). However, I found the door on level Z and it just brought me back to Level D with the same score and the same weapons. Did I beat the game? Does the game end or do you keep playing it until you die? I'm not sure if I legitamately finished the game or if I did something wrong or missed a step along the way somewhere.... Can anyone confirm?

I remember the TI/99 computer had a rather weird method of removing carts. My friend always maintained that you had to remove cartridges while the power was still on! Not sure how much relevance my post has to the topic of this thread, but can anyone confirm this for me?

I checked Amazon to confirm what you are talking about. It's just that Video Game Liquidators place that seems to be selling the games using Amazon's Z-shops outlet subsidiary. Some of the games cost more than if you were to just go to ebay and bid on the same games offered by VGLQ I thought it was Amazon.com itself that was selling these games.

Yeah, those are pretty much common games, but man, $1.50 each? The absolute minimum most of these games go for brand new is $10 - $20 from reputable dealers such as VGLQ.com and goatari. Great find and great prices!

For the record, the fact that I am selling my Jag in no way indicates that I am no longer an Atari fan/collector. I have TONS of game systems and I need to trim down the number of games and consoles I have in my possession. I have a 2600 with over 150 games which I've had since I was a kid and I am not about to part with that. The Jag, on the other hand, was a system I bought a few months ago more out of curiosity than anything else. It's a good system, but I just don't have the same kind of attachment to it as I do with some of my other classic systems, so its an ideal candidate to sell. Make no mistake about it, I am still an Atari fan and will continue to take part in the community and these boards. 2600 rules!!
