What console had the coolest carts?
Adrian M replied to sega saturn x's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Neo Geo AES and MVS carts beat out everything. Huge, heavy and packed to the hilt with TWO(!!) PCB boards! Not to mention ultra durable! -
Actually, you're thinking of Rad Racer (Rare/NES). The classic Outrun and Hang-On games didn't give you "coasting time" when you ran out of gametime. You'd instantly stop and the game would be over.

http://www.joystiq.com/entry/4587251050537816/ And this is no ordinary delay. We’re talking November 2005 for the US release! So where is this latest speculation generating from? Good question. Industry analysts PJ McNealy of American Technology Research and Piper Jaffray & Co. are projecting the delay, citing both hardware and software concerns. Most notably, is the battery life issue, which has been estimated to be as low as 90 minutes. On top of the hardware issues, it’s unlikely that a significant software library would be available in time for Sony’s planned release dates of December (Japan) and March (US). Stay tuned for an official announcement from Sony.

Too many good sequels coming out!
Adrian M replied to Gregory DG's topic in Modern Console Discussion
You mistakenly omitted Halo 2 from your list of great sequels! -
"What is this magical yet seemingly frightening location? The Pokémon Center, the US headquarters for Nintendo's insanely popular series of video games and multimedia."

I always hated the co-driver in 04, very hard to understand, maybe thats why I never paid attention to the #'s!! LOL!!! This years co-driver is wayyy better, very clear and easy to understand.....at least for me at least.... I do not subscribe to Xbox live, so I cannot test this aspect of the game.... However, I highly recommend it if only for the great single player aspects. It is indeed a true-sim, so you RS-2 fans may not like this one....I do! As I've always stated, the Rallisport series is fine, but a bit too simplified for my tastes. And now with the demise of Microsoft's XSN lineup (likely a stipulation of the damned EA Sports LIVE agreement) the future of the Rallisport series remains unknown. No matter though. The XBOX incarnations of Colin McRae have firmly entrenched themselves as the new king of video game rally racing games. A position once held for nearly a decade by the Sega Saturn iteration of Sega Rally. And yes, the single player aspect is where the true meat of the game is found. There's a rally game called Rally Shift on the Mac that I've been playing a off and on lately as well. http://www.codeblender.com/ Visually, it's pretty basic, but the physics engine seems to be coming along rather well. Can't wait to see how this one shapes up after a few updates! I find it better than the more visually impressive XPand Rally that can be found on Windows.

Atari "Flashback" v. Namco (Jakks)
Adrian M replied to davidcalgary29's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Actually, that would be pretty cool. They have those toy slot machines that take coins, so this wouldn't be that far-fetched of an idea. -
Atari "Flashback" v. Namco (Jakks)
Adrian M replied to davidcalgary29's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Neither. Particularly since the reports are that these are "near duplicates" of the original arcade games. I want 100% accurate, not near duplicates. -
Well....I either have been using the E-brake on 3 or 4 difficulty turns...or using the Hard Steer button........ Also, the co-driver is MUCH better this year....much easier to understand...also gives a # with the turn......lower #'s are HARDER turns....very good!!!! The co-driver did give #'s on turns in 04 as well. But it's cool to hear there are others out there enjoying this great game. Have you tried any of the XBOX LIVE races yet?
-
I played the demo and I don't know what to make of it just yet. The demo track is a bit short and the game retains its arcadey roots. For my money, I think Colin McRae 2005 would be a better value for me as I mostly enjoy rally racing games. Also, I've never been a fan of the original Outrun series.

Not quite as predictable as you are, troll. Did you stop taking your medicine, or what? Very original! Congrats! You and Moycon make a great team!
-
What an idiot (and a waste of money)! I hope Bill Gates fires his ass!
-
Mission accomplished! See how easy it is? So predictable!
-
So, do you play games on this thing?
-
Oh no, no, no....not here they wouldn't. The moment you disagree either respectfully (or disrespectfully) with the consensus on these forums you're instantly branded a "fanboy" of such and such company.

Has anyone tried these with their JAMMA machine?
Adrian M replied to maibock's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Why settle for a high-priced bootleg when you could buy the real boards for nearly the same price. Of course, you'd have to buy/make some Jamma pin convertors to enable them to work on a Jamma harness, but still. -
Actually, I can be a very agreeable and friendly person on the boards. Thing is, that gets sort of boring after awhile, so.....

I say the same thing about all those retro gaming collections that seem to be flooding the market these days. Missile Command and Tempest were fun, but christ, enough already! Oh yes, that also applies to the Nintendo's NES re-releases on GBA format. Dear god, no more!

You can play it that way if you wish...that's the point of the game afterall. I think Molyneux and company added the other features to appeal to the kiddies who will likely be playing the game in their own way. Something for everyone I suppose...

Huh? Wrapper as in the cellophane? Or are you talking about the actual box art?
-
Hehe! Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass! But staying on topic, I must state that the general expectation in these forums seems to be this: You MUST love ALL games on ALL platforms regardless. Lord help you if you disagree or find something like Donkey Konga to be fruity. Sorry friends, but it doesn't work that way no matter how much you want it to. Until then, keep banging on those fruity bongos!
-
Not at all. When Samba D'Amigo came out on the DC with its maracas, I merely laughed at it and shook my head at the direction Sega was taking us in. When the fruitilicious DDR made its way to the XBOX, I shrugged my shoulders and laughed at how fruity the preferences of today's gamers are. But as a consolation, at least we XBOX owners have the Steel Battalion setup to counter the invasion of DDR on our platform of choice. Thankfully, no sign of any bongo-banging games on the horizon for us X gamers!

Yes. Sega Rally was truly the first Saturn game that made people realize that the Saturn actually DID have honest to goodness horsepower in its hardware. Of course, by then it was almost too late as Sony had already converted many to its cause and the rest as you know is history. Touring Car is great as well, but man, that twitchy control took me forever to get accustomed to. Definitely keep Sega Rally...it's one of those games that you'll go back to over and over again (much like Shenmue and why it's the only real reason why I keep a DC system in my house). The XBOX Colin McRae series has recently eclipsed the once great Sega Rally 1, but for a time, it was bar none THE BEST home rally racing game on ANY console.
