These (the Japanese versions) used to sell for $99 BIN not too long ago.

Again, not my auction but my opinion is that this is a good bundle for the money. About a day left on the auction AND it includes the rare NEXT TETRIS. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5722388681&rd=1

Not really. And besides, it's in storage so finding it would be tough for me. Anyway, wasn't there a racing version of these games that featured a cool little steering wheel as the main controller?

The fad is over. Today's gamers can only withstand so many versions of "Atari Anniversary" released on all the latest platforms.
-
I only have one. Skycatch is the name and you control a stupid stork as he catches falling packages. I must say, it's a noisey little device.

2005 is due out today (here in the USA at least - XBOX only)! Are you planning on buying it?

Heh. Glider had plenty of fans, in fact, several versions were released over the years! And it's now considered freeware (according to this article http://www.macgamer.com/features/?id=1603 ) so everyone can have a chance to enjoy it! I do remember Glypha as well. They included it on one of the old MacAddict CD's and if I'm not mistaken, I think it was developed by some people at Apple Computer as sort of a demo program to help developers. There was also a freeware port of Tempest called "Arashi" which was free and pretty much spot-on as well.

Factor in that the original version came out in 1984-1985 and featured some really decent sound effects (for the era) as well as high resolution graphics (again, compared to the monochrome IBM displays of that time), along with the mouse/keyboard control and you'll see why the original Dark Castle was held in such high regard. The Genesis version, like most of its PC ports, was an abomination.

Aside from the grainy graphics and reduced frame rate (20-25 fps), the gameplay is most certainly not right on. The powerslides are completely broken and the handling is stiffer than the coin-op, even with a steering wheel accessory. Sega Rally for the Saturn is one of the finest rally racing titles ever made. I've praised this title for quite some time and it is due to the near-flawless control and powerslide engine. Be warned though, if you don't like rally racing games or prefer arcadey games like Ridge Racer with its stickier control, then it will take some time for you to warm up to Sega Rally. I'd also recommend Sega Touring Car. It's not a great game, but far better than Daytona.

Burnout 3 - the impossible track?
Adrian M replied to liveinabin's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Ick...that sort of CPU AI is something I really detest. Perhaps I'll steer clear of Burnout 3 in that case. -
The easiest thing to do sometimes is to look for older sports games (or the XBOX EXHIBITION discs) that sell for a few $$ and simply swap the cases. Check EB's hot deals every now and then...sometimes they run specials to clear out old football/baseball games for as little as $3.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my LE Green XBOX (because its the same color shell as those developer debug kits that were featured in the earliest issues of OXM), but a Crystal XBOX would be icing on the cake as far as my collection goes! With Halo 2 included, even better!

Burnout 3 - the impossible track?
Adrian M replied to liveinabin's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Hmm...cheating CPU you say? I was looking at picking Burnout 3 up (along with Colin McRae 05 on Sept 28), but I'm not a big fan of racers with bad AI. Since I haven't played the previous Burnout games, I'm wondering how does it cheat? Rubberband AI? Superhuman-like abilities? -
Kind of makes you wish you lived in Europe, no? http://www.xbox-scene.com/

Which space shooter gae on the 2600 was the most...
Adrian M replied to salstadt's topic in Atari 2600
Everyone always forgets LASER GATES. That game is the most impressive 2600 shooter I've ever played. -
You can buy OEM and retail versions of Mac OS software from many of the online retailers that advertise in the back pages of Macworld and MacAddict. Here are links to 2 retailers that I've purchased items from in the past: http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Page.cfm...tware&Template= http://www.megamacs.com/v1/index.php?cat=1...iew&pid=1710101

Here are some of my all-time favorite classic Mac games. My selection covers a broad range of eras: *Space Station Pheta *Lode Runner *Crystal Quest *MYTH 1 and 2 *Ambrosia Software titles (www.ambrosiasw.com) - Escape Velocity series *Demon Star *Shattered Stone *Settlers series *Mechwarrior II *Glider *Bullet EX *Gish *Tons more...go to www.macgamefiles.com for more ideas. The one thing I absolutely love about the Mac is the long history of fantastic shareware titles. Independent authors and small companies have been developing and releasing cool little games since the dawn of time. Very homebrew-esque if you catch my drift.

I saw this for sale at the local Apple Store the other night. Not that I need yet another rehashed compilation of vintage games, but I'm just interested to hear how the Mac version holds up to the PC and XBOX editions? Any new features? Any notable flaws? Is the emulation better or is this just basically a flawless port?
