  3. A sequel HAS emerged to set things right. Well as sequel does appear to have emerged, but the jury is still out as to whether or not it will right the wrongs done to the series over the last few years. Thinking some more about this development, seeing how the PS2 has missed out on the last 2 Colin McRae games (USA at least) and factoring in that they have no real regularly updated rally franchises, this is probably Sega's way of filling the void for that platform.

  5. Propeller Arena is basically just a multiplayer airplane game. It seems like it's pretty complete as there's a full soundtrack and everything. Personally, it's not my cup of tea but many have praised the game. I've responded to your PM and will be shipping the discs to you shortly.

  7. The only carts I see in EB stores these days are loose N64 games. Everything else has long since been liquidated.
  8. Yes. But the original Sega Rally (Saturn) and the Genesis are some of the few exceptions. This news is a damn shame though. After the terrible Sega Rally 2, (and the lack of any real news regarding the N-Gage version), I was hoping that a sequel would emerge to set things right for the maligned series. In the grand scheme of things though, other Rally franchises like the Colin McRae series (and a shareware title on the Mac) have taken the opportunity to give us rally fans great games since then.
  9. I remember this too... but it wasn't that one. The one at Canobie Lake was probably one of a kind. It was like 15'x15'... in by that fake bingo gameroom. I'm pretty certain it was the Hercules machine. It was in that fake Bingo hall as you stated at the far end of the park. Nearby there was a Chinese Heroes coin-op game. The pinball machine was just sitting out there in the middle of the hall.

  18. Agreed. God help you if you needed to backtrack a few screens...the loading was unbearable and oddly reminiscient of the early PC Engine CD ROM games. And yes I agree, the control was awful. Play the Blue Shift scenario for about an hour and have fun on that scene that requires you to maneuver a lift and push crates into just the right spot in order to reach a ladder. Miss by an inch and you plummet to your doom. Bleh.
  19. A second crash can and likely WILL happen. The markets are becoming too saturated with everything from console and handheld games, to those "all-in-one" joystick units. Too many games are being released. Not enough are being sold. Many software houses are already closing their doors and/or merging with larger developers. The industry is growing too quickly and it's doubtful that demand will be able to sustain it. Perhaps a crash is what we need. If you recall, good things did come later as a result of the early 1980's crash.
  20. That's no exaggeration either. Good examples of the "slideshow effect" can be seen early on in the Aberdeen and Wan Chai areas...particularly the pier and the market areas.

That's hardly a fair comparison... the Super Mario 64 picture is completely devoid of any background objects or enemies, while the Sonic Adventure pic was from one of the most action-packed scenes in the game. If you took a picture of Sonic wandering through the jungle near Tails' house, talking to painfully polygonal explorers and walking over muddy grass textures, and compared it to the SM64 picture you'd provided, the two snapshots would match up a lot more closely. Yes, Sonic Adventure does look better than most N64 games, but not substantially better. There isn't that quantum leap forward that you'd expect from the Dreamcast. Now if you took Dead or Alive 2 and compared it to Fighter's Impact (the closest thing the N64 has to a great 3D fighting game), THEN you'd see a huge gap in visual quality. JR The other thing that many Sega boys seem to forget is that Sonic Adventure was riddled with MANY glitches. Everything from clipping problems, nonconsistent frame rate, pop-up galore (check out the snowboarding level for a good laugh), awful camera, and some dodgy collision detection. Granted, the Japanese version was even worse but Mario64 at least seemed to be a bit more "finished" than the mess that SA1 turned out to be. Play through it again to refresh your memories. It really was pretty bad. Oh, and if you don't have the DC version, just pick up the GameCube port! It essentially is the DC game ported over (Flaws and all!!) to the GC!
  22. One of my all time favs of that system (besides Klax). Its not the best Sonic game for Genesis but I give Sonic Team credit for challenging the system. Sonic Team didn't develop that game. Traveller's Tales did.
  23. My observations indicate that it's beginning to wane a bit. It was fun during the beginning with the advent of emulation and proliferation of plentiful and cheap hardware and software. But lately, it's become so mainstream that even I have begun to tire of the constant influx of poorly emulated "all-in-one" controllers, the dull compilation discs being released on practically every living game system and the dorky kids who go around wearing the "know your roots" shirts. Don't get me wrong, the classic games are still fun and will always be dear to my heart due to nostalgia and whatnot. But the mainstream nature of the craze as well as all those clueless companies glutting up the market with products devoted to classic gaming are actually hurting the hobby more than helping it.
