  1. "Screen Farming" I like it. That was a great way to make money in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin... running through different areas and buildings to pop the respawned lamps and what-not for more money, or repeatedly hitting one that dropped the $100 gold.... until it started to drop silver (don't remember where, but I recall this happening).

  2. I remember seeing Jags in the store back in the day, and I think I even saw a commercial or two. I thought, "Hmmm... wait, that thing is 64bits?! Awesome!" But, I was much younger then. Having cut my teeth on the 2600, and a little on the A8s i wanted it because it was Atari, newer tech at the time, and higher graphics resolution than other stuff at the time.

  3. "It depends on your definition of classic."

    +1

I can see how some people would not view this generation of consoles as classic. I do view the PSX as classic... but for very personal/nostalgic reasons. This was a console that I wanted when it came out, and it took me a while to save the funds to get one. I was like 18 or so by the time I was able to buy one when the prices went down. Before that, a close fiend of mine (still a close friend) had one, and because he worked two jobs at the time, had an extensive library. He eventually cut down to one, and then we ended up working together for the same company, same shift. We'd hang out after work at his place for hours playing many of the titles that are considered PSX classics/essentials. This creates a very strong nostalgic bond to not only the system, but many of the titles we played.

Whether something is defined as "classic" by someone is a culmination of a number of factors, not the least of which being nostalgia, or memories and past experiences with a particular item, or time frame.

  4. In my experience, Best Electronics and Myatari are the "go to" places for gear. Especially if you want new or refurbed.

I'll probably get myself a Jag CD from there in the near future (being a new Jag owner). I highly recommend either of those two firms. Both give good service, with Best Electronics getting the nod for speed. Myatari is great too, just a smaller operation, so it takes longer (at least I think they are a smaller outfit).

  5. Arranged a trade with Astropuff My Odyssey and a FC Twin for a Jag with a nice handful of games as a starter set.

Jag was in better shape than expected. The box got to me faster than expected too. Good guy to do business with.

  6. Personally I think that is really cool. A co-founder joining a community centered around Atari and classic games in general. I think it would be an interesting thing indeed to see what your impact has been, and what your impact still is on the community. Just an odd thought trail...I do that.

    Welcome to the boards. Enjoy!
