But can that conclusion be proven. Belief is one thing, and eveyone is entitled to whatever...I am sure that first party hardware = better when new. Or if you can find the company that produced the original connectors, and some how magically find stock... (that is if Nintendo farmed out the work on that end). But when dealing with a cleaned up original connector, or a new connector... most people probably aren't going to care as long as it works well. Once you clean/repair/replace your 72 pin... give your carts a solid cleaning before popping them in!

Graphics look pretty clean. Of course, graphics DON'T make a game, they are icing on the cake. But in all honesty, DW/DQ has not disappointed me yet. I'm holding out for this one!

ROCKETSLIME for the DS, Complete - $20 shipped!
madhatter667 replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
That's not a bad price. What made you decide to give it up? Most people who have played this game absolutely love it, are you not part of that group? -
Original FamiCom or A/V FamiCom?
madhatter667 replied to NightSprinter's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I would go with the A/V Famicom personally, or why not try and find a Twin Famicom (made by Sharp, 100% licensed goods), which smushed the Disk System and standard Fami together? The controllers on it are hardwired though, so that may present an issue, since you were wanting to use a special peripheral (I don't recall whether there is an accessory jack...this system gets pampered... like you, I only play a few things that didn't hit the states on it...but got the most interesting thing I could find for the sake of collection/preservation). Don't worry about your video on a US TV... it should be fine... Japan uses NTSC for the most part as well. I haven't had an issue displaying anything yet. Worst case scenario... there are multi regions TVs to be had (which I am hoping to get one of my own very soon). -
DS Lite joins Wii on "can't find anywhere" list
madhatter667 replied to kisrael's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Man.. when I had to exchange my DS Lite because of pixel issues, I had to run everywhere to get another. Not literally of course, but close. The store I bought the first from didn't have any left, the store I went to to exchange had the one, and I was told the night before that they had 7. Even the Game Crazy I bought my final one from only had a handful. Yikes! Don't get me wrong, it is a great little system... but Nintendo, running out of hardware to sell? Usually they have been really great at meeting demand in the past (at least going off of what I remember). -
rustblackend... Sounds like we have similar tastes. The RE series, and SH series are some of my favorites. I'd back that up with LoK personally... love that stuff. I just wanted to touch bases and say "Right on" for working towards building up the pieces. I'm still after variants myself (RE Longbox, RE for the Saturn), it's fun, but can also give ya headaches...since the only place to really find any of that stuff anymore seems to be eBay (which is mildly disheartening). I can keep an eye out in my area for you, if you want to send me a list of what you are hunting.

No offense to EB Games employees but...
madhatter667 replied to MegaManFan's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
Yeah! I just bought a copy of Defeder for the PS2 and Metroid Prime for the NGC (from GameCrazy though), and they looked like they'd scuffed across the carpet. I was a little on the disappointed side with that... usually I can some out on top with disc condition (as in oooh... you don't see many used games looking that nice), but these two looked like the standard used fare. Usually I bug them to let me see the discs first. This has gone for most used places if I get the chance. -
Worst Postal services youve encounterd
madhatter667 replied to rheffera's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
We've had issues with the USPS here... they actually sent a batch of refund checks from our cell provider back to the company as undeliverable... and we are STILL dealing with the monetary repercussions of it. -
Hmm... interesting problem. Can you easily afford to do that? Have them forwarded to your new upcoming address? Is the money needed elsewhere (what on earth does that mean?!?!). There are plenty of reasons for getting them, and for waiting. If they really are cheaper than the PAL stuff, you could always get an NTSC VCS and get a power adapter for it...since you have a multi region TV, playing wouldn't be an issue, and you could get the game in full colour. That's what I would do personally. I DON'T know if PAL VCS/2600s are expensive or not, but you should be able to get a NTSC one for next to nothing...especially from one of the guys here. That would be my first step (I know...I'm just an enabler... ya get that with all hobbies!). Good times!

Yeah, the DS isn't region locked, neither is the GBA...I know guys who have import titles for those things. So there ARE fan translations of DQ V and VI? Neat... I'll have to find them... they wouldn't be illegal as far as that end goes... I own the games. Neat. I DON'T have DW/DQ Monsters, though I wish I did. Those were Game Boy Color?

GameBoy Advance & PS1 DEBUG KITS and more
madhatter667 replied to kurtori's topic in Auction Central
Kutori: All of your other prices seem reasonable, except for the cost of the PSX Debug. I do not know if there is a premium difference in price for the PAL units, but I would drop that price to no higher than $150, and that is only if you have all the cables, a set of controllers (appropriate for the revision hardware) and some memory cards. I have watched a couple of the blue boxes (BTW, what is the model # on this thing, DTL-1002? If so it is one of the earlier pieces...probably Rev. B). It is a good thing that you offer a power adapter for US sockets... that just opens up your potential buyer range. They are neat pieces of equipment to have, but I have seen people try to sell them for a couple hundred bones on eBay before, and they just sat there... not selling...not making the seller any money. $150 seems fair on the higher end of things with the extra goodies (that is what I paid for mine, complete. Incomplete ones I have seen go for as low as $60). Just trying to lend some advice, otherwise, it might take you a while to sell it, or you could lose money by having the price set a little high. If you had a Green console (Rev.C), this would be a fairly decent price for it. The really insane thing is the original price point for these things...something like $1300 if I recall... no wonder many developers used a Game Shark/Game Hunter and swap trick, or just straight up modded the units! -
They're practically the same thing. For not having Hu-Card sleeves, they work fairly well, and are definitely than nothing.

I would like the Bomb multicart, would you mind waiting a week for payment on that?

NoaC pirate boxes still for sale at a mall near you!
madhatter667 replied to FujiSkunk's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hmm... I might have to roll to a couple of the larger malls and see what is out there. Pirate stuff has no real collectible value, but some of it is fun to collect, just out of pure cheese factor. -
Is this not the Baddest MO_FO 2600 Cart youve ever seen?
madhatter667 replied to Phantom's topic in Atari 2600
Um...Evil Dead...WHAT!?!?!? Gimme.... NOW! I am guessing that is a homebrew or a hack. Still cool that someone would make something inspired by that series. Love it. I would say that double ender is pretty snaz... though I never heard of Fatal Run...though it must have been a fun one for you to seek out a double ender/repro of it (if someone made it for you, I am guessing it is a repro, or some hot rodded homebrew (do people homebrew for that one?)). I have a couple reproductions... including a pretty neat double ender of Halloween and TCM (yeah, TCM ain't so hot, but they were the two by Wizard, so they are appropriate together). Fun times! -
PS1 memory cards on PS2 to save PS2 games?
madhatter667 replied to murfj's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I totally didn't know that. So, that means that any non-first party memory card has Sony proprietary hardware in it...which means "go to town" with any 3rd party card. Is that myth just a way to attempt to stir demand for Sony cards? Just odd in that fashion. I am also suspicious by nature. That's neat about the PS3 virtual memory creation. If you play import games, you'll want to have separate cards for them, or the save will corrupt your domestic data. -
Hey Remo... Have you played many of the Tengen carts on it? How do they fare? One of these days I'll get off my ass and dig all my NES stuff outta the garage... then good times!

You can always gank a bunch of credit card sleeves and use those... I cannibalized a couple old wallets for the cause.

I've always read the reviews in the AA store section... makes me want most of the games. Money...what's that?

does anyone else out there feel like a total tool?
madhatter667 replied to wade's arcades's topic in Arcade and Pinball
"yeah I'll post some pics. I have to say its been fun so far. I built an auto rotisserie and a body lift for it. so I am able to lift the body off the chassis and spin it around by my self...very handy" I BET! I wished I could have had something like this for the VWs... would have made a body pan up resto a snap (relatively speaking). -

madhatter667 replied to wade's arcades's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Sorry about all the typos in there...I am a clumsy typist most of the time. It's pretty badazz that you are undertaking the bulk of the project yourself. NOT an easy task. I've put old VWs back together (though I wouldn't call it restoration. More like a fun driver), and even as simple as they are, they have their quirks... and there is always something to give you a hard time. Some pain in the ass part to find...bolts that are rusted on...wiring that you can't figure out. You should post pics in the odd topic forum! -
How old were you when you played your first Atari 2600 game?
madhatter667 replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
First gameplay I recall was around 4 or 5...around 1985-86. -
Not to hijack the thread...But Narutofan: Don't ditch your old XBox!!! The compatibility of the 360 isn't where people would like it to be.... it's the next step in hardware, I don't think it is meant to be completely compatible...more like an afterthought. There are maps on Halo 2 that won't work with a 360. I am not sure what they are, but I can always ask my best friend's younger brother (he does XBox online... lots of Halo, and he runs it on a 360). Although I would buy a 360 for Halo 3... that series just seems to do many things right... and I am not even a FPS fan!

"Wow those have gone down in price. I can remember when DW4 alone went for $45." I bought my copy from a friend who no longer had a working NES for something around $30...something around 2001 or 2002 I think. Some people put insane BIN prices on them as a set... which is kind of funny...Dragon Warrior III is probably the rarest of the bunch, but DWIV is probably the most coveted.

King_Salmon: Yeah that sounds like a fair estimate, but I was making fun of the article in the fact that the estimate given isn't really an estimate. When I start hearing about upcoming titles, they tend to be planned for the next year... so saying "Sometime in 2007" does nothing for the anticipation factor. Also, I totally understand how imports aren't for everyone. As far as I know there aren't any fan translated ROMs for those games either. No, foreign language faqs don't always cut it either...although as a general rule, the ones you find on gamefaqs aren't too bad. I only own a handful of Japanese carts myself... and they tend to be games that never saw a North American release (all my systems are NTSC, although when I was younger we had multi-region TVs and VCRs since we were military), otherwise, I would rather play the game in my native language... just you know... easier that way, and tends to make more sense. Which is why I would totally be down for some rereleases of titles that didn't hit the North American region/continent the first time around.
