  1. My wife makes fun of me, and calls me a dork for collecting games. Note: I don't take that comment as offense, I laugh. Most people whom I know that are into games sometimes marvel at the amount of stuff I have...and there are people here who smoke my collection, no contest!
  2. The way I see it, they're throwing down to get the games to get repressed/reissued... some of those are good games, that I don't think were released in an adequate quntity the first time.
  3. Wait... by Tuesday, do you mean this upcoming Tuesday... like in one week from now? I'm going to the store tomorrow then!
  4. Cool info... this is one I intend to preorder myself. I recently got a DS and I love the machine. I have Catlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. I need Circle of the Moon, and Dawn of Sorrow. All of those got really good ratings. I like the Castlevania series as a whole too, so it would be hard to go wrong. Running list: Castlevania Castlvania II Castlvania III Castlvania IV Castlevania Dracula X Castlevania Dracula Special (Baku-Kun or something like that) Castlevania Symphony of the Night Castlevania Chronicles Castlvania Haromony of Dissonance Castlvania Lament of Innocence I used to have Castlvania 64, and was after the other one for the N64, but I had sold it, along with the 64 to a friend, and now I have a 64 again...so I am hunting. I also need to pick up a copy of Curse of Darkness. Meh... just a junkie.
  5. Sometimes I wish I had the time, funds, and sources to get involved on such a level. Just the ability to acquire, and examine, and then document, or update existing documentation of pieces of game history is an awesome service to the hobby. I like to think that I help a bit with my self centered preservation kick... but not nearly as much as those who find unreleased titles, dump them as a ROM, or make repros easily available. My hat is off to you guys.
  6. Hmm... I wonder if there are any Camerica (the parent company that released the Aladdin) prototypes floating around? That would be damn interesting. So there are a total of 7 games that were released, including the pack in Dizzy cartridge. That'll help for the sake of acquisition. There just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info out there aside from what has been listed. Perhaps google will turn up extra tidbits? Off to searching!
  7. I wish I could find a Lynx! I knew a place that had one...but last time I went in there it was gone. I didn't buy it back then, because it was "untested" because there were no games to give it a run through with, or so the counter-dude told me. With a price tag at $40, I decided there were better things to put it towards. Good find on the games. It is getting harder to find even common games of anything Atari in my area.
  8. Hey, you've got some nice obscure titles in there. Not bad at all for a month's worth of collecting. Snoopy and the Red Baron FTW! I also recognize that double ender repro of Halloween and Texas Chainsaw...very cool. It's funny when even the reproduction carts are sort of obscure.
  9. I would perhaps find someone who could hack a FB2 for me. That way, I am dealing with largely new hardware. That would be the instant solution (aside from digging out another 2600 from my bins, or playing on the 7800...this is theoretically if all my other playing options died). I would naturally be on the hunt for a replacement VCS... sorry, but I've got to have the system as well.
  10. Alright, so I just picked up one of these things, unopened...for a pretty good price. It comes with Dizzy the Adventurer. What is the general opinion of the Camerica (Aladdin) games? I recall people saying that MicroMachines was strangely fun, and addicting, especially on multiplayer. Does anyone have experience with this item? There were what, something like 6 games made for it? Does anyone know a source for them other than eBay? Finding these things in the wild is probably an unlikely event. Are there any that come more recommended than others? This thing is something between a collection item, and a play item. I intend to play it, but it'll go back in it's box when I am done, I likely won't even take off all the shrink wrap...I'll just cut a slit in it to open the box flaps.
  11. The Dragon Warrior games are good ones...are you sure you want to flip them to pay for the acquisition? 3 is probably the hardest to find of the bunch, although everyone seems to shoot for 4. I'd keep them, and play them... but that is me, and not you.
  12. Dude, any KID who's parents can afford a PS3, Wii, or XBox360 don't get to fall into the "poor" category. Any KID who can get something like this doesn't have the right to feel self pity. Any KID that doesn't appreciate the hard work, over-time and general BS that has to go into the acquisition of expensive, or even sometimes more leisurely trinkets doesn't deserve it. But I still appreciate the humour of a giant sledgehammer, and a bunch of clueless fan-freaks.
  13. "The reaction? I saw everyone laugh at the idiots who wasted money. You know you're retarded when the people you're trying to offend laugh at you. That's when you become the "loser." That money was donated by people who wanted to see the thing get smashed to pieces. Too bad for the fan-freaks... they probably weren't aware (or still aren't aware) of that bit of info. Yes, smashing up a buggy first wave console unit in front of a bunch of people who just PAID to beta test the console (1st waves have never been spot on) is damn funny.
  14. Shadow460: From Seattle area? You mentioned Game Works. Totally not far from me. I have a case modded PS2 (flip lid, just black though...functional, not pretty), and I have a case swapped PSX (orange crystal case...I call it Livewire...cause I like Mountain Dew). I have a "modded' SNES (I ripped the tabs out so I could cram Super Famicom carts in it)... no paintjob, strictly an enabler. Not that I don't like flashy case mods... I just don't really have any of my own aside from the orange PSX...in which case, it's pretty much like the yellow one posted earlier... I am sure that's not too hard to imagine. I will say that doing case mods is a lot of fun...even if said mod is merely a case swap... I can totally disassemble a PSX and bolt it all back together and know it will work again now. Fun fun fun!
  15. I would also like to learn some of the basics on creating a rarity guide...as I would love to do the same thing for NTSC U/C PSX games...as far as I know nothing exists for them yet.
  16. Self satisfaction from donating? Sure, most people would feel that. What was childish about saying that someone has donated to charities without any real personal connections to?
  17. "Yeah, i got my toy collection tacked on to our renter's insurance, it doesn't cost that much more and all i had to do was supply some pictures of the room" Scumdogg...at least you get a room! I have enough stuff to take up a room, but no room to put it in. A day will come when I do though, and then I will add it to insurance. I live in a cheapo apartment as I cannot afford much else at the moment (school), so a fair amount of the stuff is in the garage (in Tupperware/Rubbermaid/Sterelite containers, and Ziplock bags). Still, it will be awesome when I set up a "room of doom"... my own little refuge.
  18. I don't care whether or not the Wii can play DVDs... If I want a DVD player, I'll buy a DVD player (done a long time ago), gimme a freaking GAME console. With the PS2, DVD playback was just a convenient perk, it wasn't the reason why I bought the console to start with.
  19. We've donated to the Fire Fighter's fund, and I have donated money to a housing project for poor and battered women. I have no connection personally to any of these, and guilt is something I feel very rarely.
  20. I voted lower, just because I am not sure how to assign values. I made a guess based on what I likely paid. I am sure I could "get" more for it now though. Not my intention with my personal collection, but it is fun to know.
  21. The humor of Maddox is that he is a blatant prick. He usually only picks on/gipes about things that are silly, and pretty much nonsense anyway. I agree with the view point on Christopher Reeve. Someone only caring about finding a solution to a condition AFTER he/she has fallen victim to said solution means absolutely dick. That is just human nature, and should be recognized as such, and not praised like some great act.
