For $10 you got it at a steal! I have been after one of these for a while... just trying to not resort to eBay. That, and a Neo Geo AES system... but that also has a cult following, and therefore the prices are high when you find them.

how come the foil label carts aren't in the rarity guide?
madhatter667 replied to homerwannabee's topic in Rarity Guide
Yeah, I agree with the cartridges having production numbers on them (combat being 01, not sure about the others). I think those are foil labels, but as far as I know aren't represented in the guides. I have a few different combat cart variants: the foil, light red letters, dark red letters, and then copyright/trademark symbols next to the game variants. Dont know if the light/dark text variations are due to labels or to sunlight exposure....but they look fine (as in not damaged by elements). Edit: Oh yeah, and the picture label too. -
I've used a number of aftermarket controllers. The Slik Stick is pretty good, as are the Wico units, Quickshot controllers are pretty decent too... in fact most of the 3rd party controllers work better than the Atari made ones... save for perhaps the ones for the 7800. Good luck finding 3rd party 5200 stuff though... I think Wico made a good one for that, but those are next to impossible to dig up, even on eBay.

The Eventual phase out of PS2 + Gamecube

That would be awesome, as I fancy myself an OK singer...perhaps I could get some screaming deals besides. -
FS/TRD: PSOne LCD sealed $50 Shipped? or TRD for CV Multi!
madhatter667 replied to Murph74's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I'd be ineterested, but I need to assess my funds (and I don't yet own a PSOne, just the grey consoles). But I want one, and having a screen, given the nature of my other job, would be swag. -
Seriously, I find most of the goof ball replies on the forums entertaining. Honest. I don't mind if someone replies to some of my posts with silly shit. I use ziplock bags... all the time. I use them for my loose carts. Get a quart size bag (or a gallon... quart should work though) and place it in there. Combine that to keep dust and moisture out, along with keeping it out of the sun... there is no reason you cannot preserve the game. I also use Rubbermaid tubs/lids to store stuff in... consoles... game carts (largely NES w/dust sleeves). For CD based media, I tend to box up the cases, and put the discs in a folder/binder since I play those the most. If I ever get the chance to display them, at least I have the stuff still to do it... jewel cases are easy to come by anyhow... as long as the back labels are preserves... the case could be beat to hell, and I wouldn't care. I DO stockpile PSX games, but because I like the system, not because I am trying to be prospective about PSX.

Video Game Store Pet Peeves

"I have a lot of systems. I'm gonna be walking around for a while. Grab a chair." Nyah!! No shit! I have had this happen a few times too. No Seriouly, I own just about every system for the games you sell here... I WILL enjoy myself and playfully snoop through the 'Cube, XBox, PS2, PSX, Dreamcast, Saturn, N64, SNES, NES, Genesis, GBA/Game Boy, Game Gear cartridges, don't rush me, I'm a patient person. Of course, there are plenty more systems I would buy for, if they were only considerate enough to carry the games for them (or if people were callous enough to actually trade off their oldies... and the stores accept them). -
DS Rarities? Anyone Collect?

Just bought a Sega Saturn...
madhatter667 replied to myfriendskiba's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I heard that Resident Evil for the Saturn had some system specific goodies thown in there. The Saturn is a neat console... I thoroughly love mine, although my library is very limited. I have an Action Replay for imports... to me it just seems to be the easier solution. It also acts as a RAM cart. Just a thought... you might want to pick one up, given the amount of import titles available for the console. -
Video Game Store Pet Peeves
madhatter667 replied to BassGuitari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
What seriously bothers me is that in my area, there are only 2 mom and pop game shops, and one of them isn't dedicated to games and operates almost like a pawnshop that likes to charge on the higher side (but I have found some good deals there from time to time), and the other, while it does have some older stuff, is largely an import game store (I do buy from both the mom and pop shops though). The other game stores are Game Crazy, and Name Your Branch of Gamestop. That's not diverse enough... you cannot even pick up good PSX games anymore, unless you are lucky (cause most of them have been picked through), since the shops don't take them in anymore. Really kind of sad to see the hobby get turned into just a mainstream money maker... I understand the business end of things, make no mistake, but I also miss the concept of passionate folks behind the counter, and a store owner who cares. Combine this with my taste for variety (games of all eras and most genres), and you have the reason for why I am going to open my own store. -
Seems to be. I have to still buy mine. It may have to wait until after the holidays.

Did I punch in 1000? My bad! I haven't seen a mud dauber in years. I don't know that particular wasp by any other name... scientific or otherwise. Just mud daubers. They used to build on the side of our hose in Arkansas... never really bothered them, because they weren't an aggressive species. Those red wasps are a different story though... I remember my dad accidentally stirred up a bunch of reds doing yardwork. I happened to be outside with him, and the next thing I knew I was picked up, and was being run into the house. Rarely have I even seen my old man move faster these past 20 years!

Anyone have a loose copy of NES Sunday Funday for sale?
madhatter667 replied to jpfalcon2003's topic in Wanted
Getting the power up and winning the game FOR THE LORD!! Seriously though, they are a little tough to come by... I somehow managed to come across Spiritual Warfare, and King of Kings online for dirt cheap. All those Wisdom Tree games are tough buggers to come by. Good luck in your search! -
Just bought a Sega Saturn...
madhatter667 replied to myfriendskiba's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Congrats on the Saturn... it's a fun system. Poke around online, I am sure you can dig up a set. -
Damn, you've been busy. I only had about 20 atari games for about....16 years or so... then I decided that there was a lot more out there, and there really was no excuse for not collecting more. It would take me time to seriously post my collection (I have so far catalogued the games, and snapped some pics of them, but not hardware). Looks like you're having fun. That's what matters the most.

Hey, I have 2 copies of this game. Are you looking for the handle/bevel cartrige, or the standard style? Both are in good shape, and both play. PM me if interested, and we could discuss details.

Final Fantasy XII from a non-FF fan's perspective.
madhatter667 replied to Atari Master's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Ah....FF gaming input that isn't some random fanboy fellating Squaresoft...very refreshing. FFXII is one that I haven't played a lot of, but I do have it... Square usually makes alright RPG games, but just because it is Square, and FF doesn't instantly mean best game ever. Some of my favorite RPG titles have come from Enix (or at least the Enix side of things now). -
Minnesota is the Land of a Thousand Lakes. Wisconsin just gets cold (lived in Milwaukee for a couple years). Critters like roaches are hard to deal with... can get in almost anywhere, and are hard to kill. Tarantulas and scorpions are neat critters in cages... but I don't think I'd want to try and deal with them in the semi-wild... even if they aren't a poisonous varity... it'd still hurt like hell if one managed to get ya.

Video Game Store Pet Peeves
madhatter667 replied to BassGuitari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think that a display of sorts is an OK thing... kinda like "hey, this is a gamer haven". Although of course, it would be best if everything shown in store is for sale... cause some folks just might be the type to offer a generous sum of money for said obscurity. -
Video Game Store Pet Peeves
madhatter667 replied to BassGuitari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
"...and when they have someone like me who applies there and actually knows my shit..." While I cannot repair consoles aside from a good cleaning, and a new pin replacement for an NES, I have run into this before. I feel your pain... as I would love to work in a game store, even part time... it'd be more fun than security (part time). "It was nice to have a store employee who knew the hobby's past instead of only it's present like pretty much all the kids you find working in game stores." It is nice when you run across folks like this. Too bad they are the minority. Imagine how great a game buying experience would be if all the people hired were avid gamers, past and present? Not some random jack-off who pretends to know about games. "Owns every game made" Sure... by every game... he means from the PSX on... and even that is doubtful given the THOUSANDS of titles available. The PSX alone has over 1300... add in how many PS2 titles??? I am guessing there are at least 2000 titles in the respective combined libraries. At anything from $5-$75 a pop (or more depending on how rare, and new or used) I highly doubt it. It's shit like this that makes me want to open my own shop. A friend and I have been mulling it over for years... we should act on it. Sure, we wouldn't get the fad gamers, and the trend creeps...we'd get the people who love the hobby for what it is... which is more important, and more lucrative in my eyes. Chain stores are a hotbed of BS drama... and I try to stay away from them if possible. I have a friennd who works at the Game Crazy in the town I used to live in...I'll shop there, as my buddy does care about games, and the shop is a few blocks from his house. I usually won't go there if anyone else is working besides him though. Other than that... most of the older stuff at the chains is well picked through, and barely warrants my time. -
Wii´s Virtual Console: prices and games
madhatter667 replied to panamajoe's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
I wonder how many of the ROMs the Wii will be able to hold? I *might* utilize this feature when I get a Wii... I might not... I am still up in the air about it. I own most of those games, but the convenience factor of NOT having to plug extras in isn't a bad thing. It also preserves my coveted hard copies. -
An end to your retro gaming passion ?
madhatter667 replied to PINMAN's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I use the phrase "retro" as "anything that is older, or no longer supported, and is respectably aged"... although it is easiest to say that I enjoy video games in general... I have the older systems, like the VCS, and Odyssey 2, and most of the stuff from there out. I have PS2, Cube, and XBox, and I will likely have all three, or at least 2 or the new gen consoles coming out. It's a long running hobby... no signs of quitting. -
An end to your retro gaming passion ?
madhatter667 replied to PINMAN's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I don't think that I'll ever give up the hobby, retro or otherwise. Think of it this way...all the current gen. stuff WILL be retro gaming by the time I reach 40.
