  1. To figure out the value of $75, I searched here in the old marketplace posts and also on Ebay for sold listings. I also checked in a pricing guide that I have for comparison. Since I couldn't find any pictures of the Racing Pak in a condition as good as this one, I went a little higher on the price. From what I can tell from a quick search, the B2School Pak is about 2x as rare and can demand more. If it is in good shape then I'd encourage you to put it up for sale and see what kind of offers you get. Depending on the condition, I'd ask for about $125 complete. Edit - A pretty nice B2School sold on ebay this month for $60
  2. Awesome thank you iesposta
  3. Because it is a great game, and I want to save it. I have a little cocktail I use, but haven't gotten that aggressive with it yet. I was hoping to take it apart and inspect - also gives me a better angle on the pins.
  4. The 2600 homebrews are all intended to be played on any platform that supports 2600. So the 7800 compatibility is assumed. If you have any problems, Al (guy who runs AtariAge) will handle it and replace your cart. I actually did have one homebrew that he replaced for me after some weird behavior on a 7800. The Video Modification won't change anything regarding compatibility. These devices are essentially taking an S-Video signal and broadcasting it on UHF channel 3 and 4. The video mod basically bypasses the broadcast and just gives you the straight S-Video (or composite) out. The original design was done because TVs simply weren't manufactured with inputs other than those for an antenna, so the console had to broadcast straight into the TV. Regardless, the video mod changes nothing about how the console works - just how the video/audio gets output.
  5. Came across an Enduro that gives a quiet black screen. Sometimes diagonal grey waves. Cleaned it up (a lot) and no change. Another Enduro I have works fine on the same console. Any reason why an individual Enduro wouldn't work on a Lt Sixer? I want to take apart the Activision shell without damaging the plastic. Is there a guide or old post on the best way to take apart the acti shells?
  6. I'm willing to sell every boxed game in this deal (linked). I haven't had a chance to price it all, but if you are really after something in this group then please PM me and we can work it out. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/223099-rate-my-craigslist-deal/
  7. Updated with Racing Pak and a new 2600 bundle . . . Sold items crossed out.
  8. Well, I'm too lazy to look up some of your history to figure out what level of troubleshooting you normally try, so I'll just tell you what I would do here using knowledge of other systems. I think I'd focus on understanding if the power is working on the one that is "dead." When you take off the case, does the power cable look like it is connected? Can you read voltage on the power in and out of the voltage regulator(s). Compare whatever voltage readings you get to the unit that gives you just blocks and see if there is a difference. After that you may be able to isolate a part that isn't working and replace it either from mr grey n blocky or just from off the shelf parts. Just blocks could be a problem with one of the actual chips or maybe some logic problem thrown off by a bad resistor or other basic part. Does anything look burned or broken on the motherboard? Does comparing the two boards reveal any big differences?
  9. Welcome to AtariAge. As others have said, Best Electronics is legit and you won't be disappointed with what you get from there. Most have better luck calling them on the phone. Here is a thread that talks about how to get into the older games from the perspective of someone a little older than you. He asked for advice on how to love Atari and users gave some thoughtful responses. His subsequent blog was interesting too. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/180896-help-me-learn-to-love-the-atari-2600/?hl=%22learn+to+love%22 It is 2600 focused, but gets you some recommendations that will ease you into Atari. The marketplace here on AA is going to be your best option for a cheap 2600 or 7800. You'll pay less here than anywhere else on the internet.
  10. I got a broken mainboard from a member on here and de-soldered the port myself. Best Electronics has them, but they have like a $20 minimum purchase. First thing I would do would be to put a post in the WTB section of the marketplace for a broken 2600 or for the cart port and guide. Someone may have one they'll just send you.
  11. I just got an O2 from Mark, and I wanted to comment in this thread so I can follow it easily as there is so much good info here. Where is a good place to find manuals online? I have the Multi-Cart but I'm so new to this system that I don't know some things - like what the codes you can type in the games are for. I need to read some manuals. I tried to register with videopac.nl but registration is disabled at the moment. Is there a killer app homebrew that everyone kills themselves for? Like a sequel to a really popular original title or something like that?
  12. I just got my first O2 as well. I tried to register on that site but "registration is currently disabled." I'll start another thread with some questions here.
  13. Everything in there is easy to troubleshoot. Nice leaf switches and easy to follow wires. I also have one that has been mine for 30 years, and I've opened it up once to clean the contacts and poke around. I didn't do much to it and it has worked fine ever since.
  14. I'd be interested in a 5200 version - just sayin
  15. Just completed an amazing trade with Mark where he sent me a modded O2 console. His work on the device is incredible and it was perfectly packed. Don't hesitate to trade or buy from Mark. I'll go out of my way to trade with him again.
  16. Because I have a box full of them but yeah 12v adapter would make more sense. I suppose I was thinking that you'd probably want to regulate the 12v line anyway, so you could make it compatible with a higher watt supply.
  17. Seems like an easy enough project to try. I'm thinking you could maybe use one of those 90w laptop supplies (that are ubiquitous) and add the regulators to give you 3 outputs. The worst outcome would be you have a power supply that gives the right output, but maybe doesn't work for some reason. Plenty of testing you can do before you actually plug it into a Coleco to be sure you are on target. I'd be interested to see how it comes out.
  18. Regarding the PC psu, how do you have it hooked up to the Coleco? Can you send me a pic or a schematic or something? You can get various thicknesses of copper plate online. I bought some from a place called something like smallparts.com. You can also find thicker aluminum and copper foil at a hobby/craft store.
  19. For the 7800 For Intellivision Granted arcade parts would be better for actual gameplay, but I like these plug and plays because the parts are all in there and in the case of the Intellivision, there is already a batter compartment and battery door/AC outlet. For the 5200, I use an adapter that lets me use this guy:
  20. That is one that I did not know! I totally leave my stuff in the outside corridor. In addition to not losing it if you die, It helps give reference points.
  21. Could you use a power supply from an old PC? I know that the PC supplies have various output voltages. That wouldn't make it any smaller, but I'd always thought I could cut the connector and wire up the appropriate pins from a PC supply to get what I need. Interested to hear if anyone has tried that.
