  1. First feedback for guiltl3ss. He bought some Atari 2600 and 7800 games from me. He paid quickly and communicated well. Very good experience!
  2. Still interested in this. No hurry, but I just want to let everyone know that my interest is high.
  3. How did this turn out? Sometimes you can start a game with the controller into port 2. It could be something wrong with the controller port itself. Sometimes on INTY II the plastic around the port kinda folds down. I suppose that the plastic folding down could break the pins on the port or just create a poor contact. make sure the port is clear and that whatever controller you are using can fit completely into place. Also - try different games.
  4. I go to this every year and it is a blast. If you are going to be there Al, I've got another deposit of cart shells that I can give you. FYI that there are usually MANY classic arcade games also there and available to play/purchase. However, the classic home gaming scene has not really been represented in past years.
  5. Very informative thread that will likely result in me purchasing something. Commenting to follow
  6. Updated! I did more testing on the 2600 bundle and added some extra sticks
  7. I have a Packard Bell 10Cd with a working "Aztech sound cards that Packard Bell often used (the really long ones with integrated modems and CD-ROM controllers)" I actually don't have the DOS driver for the card anymore which makes accessing the CDRom hard. Haven't taken the time to find it online. This was the first computer I ever opened up and worked to upgrade. I managed to get a new bios for it that at one point cost money (but I didn't pay). It lets you install a whopping 8gb hard disk (which I did). I also upgraded the CPU and put more RAM in. If someone were close to me and wanted it, I'd just give it away.
  8. I tried to use a pen like that to repair the flex lines, but I had no luck. The pen I was using was a little old, so that may have something to do with it, but basically, I found it hard to actually draw a line narrow enough that it wouldn't connect to the other lines on the mylar. I wound up actually finding the broken section and connecting a wire that bridged the gap. I poked a hole through the mylar and used superglue of all things as the "back" side of the mylar isn't conductive (you can glue stuff there). The wire went through the hole and stayed in place against the mylar trace - sorta like a cold solder joint. Kinda tricky and I was shocked it worked - but that controller still functions with that repair in place. I posted a topic about my repair on these boards, but I didn't have great pics of the actual repair. Link to my post: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/215293-i-tried-to-fix-an-inty-ii-controller/
  9. How about Lords of Conquest. With Defender of the Crown coming out this could be a possibility . . . . maybe?
  10. Here is where my technical knowledge kinda runs out, but I believe that the monitor you are using for your computer runs at a higher FPS than both an NTSC or PAL TV. The reason there is a speed difference for things like Nintendo games on PAL is that the refresh on the screen was tied to sprites moving in the game (something like that anyway), so Samus appears to move more slowly in PAL because the PAL version of the game was not redone to adjust the speed to the new framerate - only the color etc. However, VICE (or maybe just windows) handles this for you because your computer display is refreshing already at a higher FPS and it must emulate the true speed of the game. This is where the emulator bitheads chime in and explain this better, but I think one of the primary things the emulator does is remove the relationship between refresh and redraw of the objects involved in the game. The redraw is timed to make it more true to the original hardware and it doesn't care about the refresh or even resolution of your display. So my point is that I'm not sure it matters what you set the value to, the emulator is making all kinds of adjustments for you anyway. That being said, they put the option in there for a reason, so it must do something. I think it is mostly to get the color right.
  11. This flared out Anyone else got these 3?
  12. Lot's of updates - some games not pictured, but many of these have excellent labels. I saved them from the homebrew recycle pile for label quality, so if you want to see an individual picture, please message me.
  13. Not my auction but http://www.ebay.com/itm/161235888272?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  14. Completed a very smooth trade with Phil - Inty/GameCube. I've done more than one deal with him and will gladly trade with him again.
  15. In my experience, the ROMs I find are almost always PAL. But VICE seems to handle them fine regardless. Framerates on a computer monitor are handled differently than your old tube TV/Monitor, so it doesn't really matter. The "warp" shortcut key is your friend. I usually press it during loading and press it again to play the game. I'm sure you've figured that out since you mentioned warp.
  16. You can get the JiffyDos roms and use them with VICE. JiffyDos was a commercially sold mod for the 1541 disk drive that basically corrected a bug that prevented the original design from using the equivalent of parallel IO. This sometimes improves load times by more than 9x. It is a little hard to find these online, but stick your nose in the usual bittorrent holes and you'll catch a whiff. I've never bothered to track down the FastLoad rom, but it is out there and you can specify it in the cart slot in VICE. The presence of this cart actually damaged some software - so be careful and make backups.
  17. I'm not aware of anyone offering to do these right now. There is a group called Electronic Sentimentalities that do custom AV mods (and sell kits). They may do this for you, but I know they would also be happy to mod your 2600. http://electronicsentimentalities.com/ AtariAge user "Yurkie" may also be able to help in this area.
  18. Xu4 is a remake of Ultima IV for PC that improves the experience a lot http://xu4.sourceforge.net/
  19. Ask me about a 2600 "Starter Kit" for $25
  20. Added a couple items: There is one page of the playbook for NFL Football "Defensive Formations"
  21. /\/\/\/\ No, There is nothing wrong with the videos (that I know of). I have actually left the flash player off of my many home machine because I feel like not having it speeds up browsing. Those websites you go to that want to play a flash video are thwarted and the pages load faster. The downside is that I can't view stuff with flash (like a youtube link on a message board). I also just prefer to read a list of games rather than wait for someone to tell me. I can read much faster that people can talk. The video walk through trend bothers me for this reason (unrelated).
