  1. With all of its control problems, I seem to drift back over and over to playing my 5200. I think it qualifies as underrated even to this day (or maybe its just bad). The games are some of my favorite versions and the influx of 8-bit computer hacks has been really fun.
  2. I bought a shirt from mrwhitethc off a different website, but he was great to deal with and provided extra communication about shipping etc.
  3. Its a common failure point but has a lot of possible fixes that aren't very complicated. Cleaning the connector would be a good start. I like to take a very fine grain sandpaper and cut a small strip (about the width of an eyeglass flathead screwdriver) that I can work lightly against the inside of the connector. After that, I'll wrap some scotch tape around the end of the same eyeglass screwdriver and stick a single very small bit of paper towel around that tape. You can dip the paper towel in alcohol this way and it will stay rigid because of the tape (for a while). Work the paper towel in and try to wipe it clean. After that you should at least have more angles to work with as you rotate the power adapter in the socket. If the console was ever picked up roughly by the power cord while it was plugged in, or if it got jerked by the cord in some way, it might have loosened the solder bond the connector has to the main board. I repaired this problem on my own families 2600 after many years of just working around the issue. Usually a visual inspection of the underside of the board will reveal this problem as you'll see some cracking or scorching. You can try to kind of mush the connector against the board and hope it gets better, but if this is your problem, you'll likely need to reflow those connection points with new solder. It's one of the easiest solder jobs to do for your classic consoles and it's just 2 points. Edit - ok maybe its more than 2 points, but its not hard.
  4. I had a perfect deal with scootiecat - she had great communication and described everything perfectly.

  10. Yes to everything above and the Namco collection that was mentioned earlier is pretty incredible
  11. I've logged A LOT of 360 hours but many of the games I've played in a series, so I chose not to fill up my list with various games in the same series 1) Batman Arkham series (City stands out) 2) Mass Effect series (3 stands out) 3) Assassin's Creed series (2 stands out) 4) Elder Scrolls series (I kinda prefer Oblivion) 5) The Walking Dead XBLA 6) Pinball FX2 XBLA (Avengers table is great) 7) Red Dead Redemption (I'm not a GTA fan) Gears of War series (2 stands out for me with Hoard mode) 9) Settlers of Catan XBLA 10) Magic the Gathering series XBLA (1 stands out) 11) Dead Space (only played 1) 12) Halo series (3 stands out) Honorable mention for Portal 2 which I played on Steam I also own some games for this gen that I haven't gotten around to playing yet: Dishonored, Deus Ex, Xcom. They might make their way on this list at some point.
  12. You got me to look, but I think that runs a little too hot for most of the projects I do.
  13. I got it last night and I wore it to work today (casual work environ). It looks great and arrived quickly - thanks!
  14. See that's what I thought, but it's harder to find a VCR at a thrift shop than I wanted it to be. Garage/Yard/Boot sale is probably where you can pick up a VCR cheap. Pawn/thrift shops wanted $40 and $50 for them in my area.
  15. I got a Blonder Tongue ZDM-806 and hooked it up. You need 2 coax to female RCA connectors (same used for the console to TV) but it works just fine with a 2600 (assume other systems too). The quality of the picture didn't blow me away, but it was a definite improvement from straight RF. It's got video and audio level adjust knobs on the front that give you essentially another lever to turn when figuring out what you want your TV settings to be. The video one seemed to act like a "contrast" adjuster. It certainly gave me more flexibility when adjusting picture settings which is nice. They were all over ebay a while back and you could get one for about $35 shipped. Down side is it is kinda big. Here is another more expensive option: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120408195704?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  16. I've played it quite a bit actually - just never really liked it. If I were to give the short version of why: It is too hard and to actually experience all the features of the game you have to gain access to secrets. I was simply never willing to overcome the difficulty and discover all those secrets. I think I've defeated final Bowser 1 time but the memorization in the last level was an annoyance and because I didn't know how to get 99 lives, I frequently end up dying cause I forget which pipe to go down.
  17. An amazing homebrew and amazing addition to the 2600 library. I played through level 1-3.The music is pretty great, and I liked the way you dealt with the vertically moving platforms (among other things). While I am the right age to have enjoyed the original, it just never really clicked for me, so I doubt I'll pursue it much more. Excellent job though.
  18. I'll end up buying one. I'm looking at the site - am I seeing it right that you only have 1 color right now?
