I wonder what part of "(one) (1) game" people can't understand.

This happens a lot in many threads about multiple themes. People get so carried away they can't just mention one game, movie, series, comic book... I even saw this happening this month in a Spanish forum when the question was "your best year in gaming" (and several users, of course, replied with 3 or 4 different periods of time...).

    Star Raiders

These two posts are kind of hilarious together because ALSO in the title is "the 1980s."  As it has been pointed out already, Star Raiders was released in the 1970s.

It is kind of cool.  But I don't want to pony up money for Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros the Lost Levels as I own them on other platforms.

Now if Nintendo decides to reissue some of their other Game & Watch titles, you've got my money.

My thoughts exactly.  I mean, would we be excited about a single-game handheld release of Pitfall!?  Kinda, but I wouldn't buy it.

If you want to play 10 year old stuff then anything on that page should be fine.  Just avoid an "integrated" graphics card.  The absolute minimum you'd probably want to go on the graphics card would be a DirectX 9 graphics card with 512Mb Video RAM: AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT, nVidia 8600.  Those are ancient now.  To do a little better, anything that supports Direct X 11 will probably be fine . . . something like a AMD Radeon HD 5870, nVidia GTX 480 or higher.

I like this site for comparing graphics cards:  https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-480.110140.0.html

In spite of being pretty under the weather and lousy feeling this week I actually had a pretty darn good time gaming and made some accomplishments in the process! First I played through and beat Resident Evil 7 on the Xbox One twice, getting both of the two different endings, and I had an absolute blast with it. I love the whole Resident Evil series so I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite of the bunch, but Resident Evil 7 is definitely right up there with the GameCube REmake of the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4 for the title of favorite entries in the series.

Next up I got around to finally doing something that I had been putting off for months, finishing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Switch. I knew I had done almost everything I needed to do for the main quests, all that was left was to find the last 2 lost memories and then go fight Ganon, so Saturday night I finally just went ahead and did it. I had been putting off the final boss fight for a long time since I didn't know if I was ready for it, but it turns out after completing all the main quests and most of the side quests I was massively overpowered and just cut through Ganon like a hot knife through butter

Those couple hours I spent playing Breath of the Wild for the first time in months really reminded me what a wonderful game it was and how much I loved it, so tonight I went back and started a new game to play through it all again. This time I think I'm going to tackle a lot more of the side quests and make a commitment to play through the entire game without ever fast traveling; to make it feel more realistic and really enjoy the ambiance and scenery of the world. I also got in a bit of Atari 2600 time this evening, playing Astroblast for the HSC paper medal bracket until I had gotten a sufficiently high score to get me into the next round of the tournament (311,795 in this case, which was a new personal best for me).

Well, I think that's all the news from around here for this week! All that's left to do is post my household's times then get back to my second play through of Breath of the Wild. Best wishes and happy gaming to you and yours! :)

  5. I noticed you left the 7800 out of your list of consoles you are "set up to build for."  You should really be making dual 2600/7800 sticks.  They have A LOT more appeal to the folks here on AtariAge.  The 7800 basically requires 2 resistors as the only variation from the 2600.  It is super easy and gives your sticks a lot more functionality.

You should also probably give us all some idea about who you are.  Where are you located and what is your feedback on other websites?

  6. Zaccaria Pinball table packs are on sale on Steam.  They go on sale fairly rarely and there are so many different packages for sale that even if you have bought some in the past, you're probably missing some individual tables within (I was).

Just beat Slay the Spire but I can only beat it with one of the characters. To say it was brutally hard is an understatement but it's possible with the right combination of cards and sticking with one character to learn the best deck to do it. Great indie game that came out a few years ago.

How much have you played?  Did you escape with one of the characters or just beat the end boss for the first time?  I have escaped once and come really close with a different character, but WOW that last fight is hard.

Edit - Never mind.  I know you escaped using the robot by browsing your Steam screenshots.  I also escaped with the Robot.

Here is a new version of "Sadoom!", by tradition now called "Sadoom!+". :)

    Changes:

    • different wave speeds, starting at original game's wave 7 and going far beyond the original Sadoom!'s speed
    • starting with 100 bombs/wave, increasing by 10 each wave
    • fire button restarts a game when all buckets are lost
    • two player mode fixed
    • a few minor graphic tweaks
    • attract mode removed (needed the bytes)

I recently went looking for Kaboom! hacks and have REALLY enjoyed this one.  Does it have it's own thread somewhere? I couldn't find one.

Anyway, I think this game has even more potential.  Right now, I use it as a way to sort of "train" for regular Kaboom!, but it is great on its own.  Here are some ideas to make it even better:

    1. To make the game more like a true training program, you could give us a game mode that starts at level 6 and does not advance past level 8.  It would let you practice more of what the actual game is like when going for a high score.  For me, when I am getting up above 20k or so, I spend time bouncing back and forth between level 7 and 8, but I also sometimes will intentionally drop down to level 6 with just one paddle to try and build my score back up before getting back to level 8.
    2. When I am advancing past level 8, I could really use some "reserve buckets."  For speeds that fast, it would be really nice to have a few buckets in reserve that could keep me playing with 3 buckets even if I lose one.  I find that I can get into a groove on level 9 and clear it with 3 buckets, but losing 1 bucket on 10 means I need to attempt 9 with just two.  I'd see more of the faster levels if I could build up 3 to 5 reserve buckets.
    3. Give us the option to play a "button reset" version the original game.  This is not really required, but it would save me from having to change carts when I want to go back to the original.

Thank you Thomas for this amazing hack.  I think that between this game and Kaboom! Deluxe we are now very lucky to have so many options.  Perhaps if the two were brought together we'd actually be able to say that a true sequel had been developed right here from our own community!  I bet Larry Kaplan would be proud.
