  1. I got something that didn't work. The seller has agreed to accept it in return. I got two messages, one that they accepted my return and another with the subject "Here's your return shipping lable." Except I don't see any attachments or anything that actually looks like a printable shipping label in the message. Has anyone dealt with this recently? What am I missing?
  2. I knew about the SNES pad, but not Retronic. Good tip. I wonder if the Stella Adapter works. I own one of those already and a device called the Ultimate PC Interface which serves a similar purpose . . . Still, I don't think that is good enough. For a comparison, I recently went looking for an old PC game from 1999. I found a version on internet archive that worked. When I plugged in my Xbox controller, it took all of 20 seconds for me to configure it to work with software created over 20 years ago. The mini should be the same.
  3. I hear ya. That was me too. Now I tend to ask myself when shopping for games "Do I need a forever copy of XYZ game?" Turns out I usually don't. I think you can pay like $180 at once for the whole year too, but I got it by upgrading my 2 year Gold subscription to GamePass Ultimate for $1. I think you can still do this, if you go to upgrade to GamePass it says the first month is $1 but really it upgrades you for the entire remainder of your Gold subscription. You can of course just go buy a 1 year Gold card for $50 and then you'd have GamePass for 12 months for only $51. Since COVID, multiple family members have purchased XBox Ones, and gotten this deal. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/xbox-game-pass-ultimate/CFQ7TTC0KHS0/000F?ranMID=24542&ranEAID=oelFIBIMgTk&ranSiteID=oelFIBIMgTk-8jwtzRQ9_8YTACfIEj9Afg&epi=oelFIBIMgTk-8jwtzRQ9_8YTACfIEj9Afg&irgwc=1&OCID=AID2000142_aff_7593_1243925&tduid=(ir__gz0ifd196okft2292jy9q0nuau2xijqgg6xxrdux00)(7593)(1243925)(oelFIBIMgTk-8jwtzRQ9_8YTACfIEj9Afg)()&irclickid=_gz0ifd196okft2292jy9q0nuau2xijqgg6xxrdux00&activetab=pivot%3aoverviewtab
  4. Well there's Red Dead Redemption 2 which is the highest rated game of this entire generation. It's also on GamePass . . .
  5. I voted "neither." I think it is overstating it to say that Microsoft doesn't give a damn about the console, but it is true that they are favoring trying to gain customers over console sales. Honestly, I think this generation is going to be GamePass vs Playstation (and kinda vs. Nintendo, Amazon, Facebook, and Google) as opposed to Xbox vs Playstation. I never thought it would happen to me, but I'm sold on GamePass Ultimate. They got me. I used to do all kinds of comparisons for games on Steam and Gamestop etc, and I love me some physical games. Now I kinda just wait for the games to come to GamePass and make the occasional Humble Bundle purchase with a very rare physical purchase mixed in. It feels like it will be multiple years before a game comes out that I actually want to play, for which I won't have a device to play it. Angry Joe kinda laid it all out on Youtube recently:
  6. Old thread. I was searching for an even older thread where people were sharing methods for cleaning the cart slot. This isn't it, but I like these suggestions better than what I remember from whatever that other one was. This method won't get things quite as clean as the plastic card and t-shirt method, but I find it is better than just ramming a wet cart in your slot . . . (a bit of a pun intended there for the OP) I will take some scotch tape and roll it on itself a few times leaving the sticky side out. I can make it as thick as I want this way but still make sure it isn't too thick to fit in the slot. If the cart slot has actually visible chunks of dust, dirt, bugs or whatever then I take a pair of pliers and simply grab onto the tape roll then lower it into the slot. The big chunks will often just stick to the tape and you can pull them out and repeat. Using this same method, you can also stick a single layer of paper towel or other absorbent paper product to a fresh tape roll. I dip that in alcohol (or deoxit which really does work better) and then I can grab the wet towel/tape roll with pliers and work it into the cart slot. The tape is often rigid enough to last for a few dips and repeats before it needs to be replaced, and I've had good luck then finishing with the old method of getting a cartridge wet with ISA and inserting it a few times.
  7. Dreamcast Crazy Taxi 2 Jet Grind Radio 22 Re-Volt 25 Sonic Adventure International 7 Soul Caliber 4 Space Channel 5 4 Intellivision AD&D Treasure of Tarmin 2 Dreadnaught Factor 15 I installed a GDEMU drive on my Dreamcast, so I was doing some testing on various games. I also pulled the Intellivision out to demo a joystick that I built for it years ago - still works great!
  8. PS2 Ghost in a Shell 17 Katamari Damacy 30 Wii Scene It: Bright Lights Big Screen 29 X360 Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel 25 Alpha Protocol 40 Battlefield Bad Company 2 35 Blood Stone 007 15 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 21 Call of Duty Black Ops 25 Syndicate 9 XOne Minecraft: Xbox One Edition 130 A bit of variety as I tested some last gen games on Wii and 360 that I recently bought on line. I've also now got a modded PS2 in my house and my brother and I dinked around on that for a little bit. More Minecraft too . . .
  9. I got a GDEMU clone installed just last week. I understand the comments about loading the SD card now. Such a weird way to do it. I am just dinking around with a 16gb SD card right now and while the sd card maker app did fine filling the empty card, it hit some kind of problem trying to re-arrange and add additional files. Feels like it will be hard to actually maintain a collection of ROMs on this thing with any type of real organization. I kinda wish I'd bought USB GD-ROM now - LOL. Questions for this group - my clone came with three standoffs. They are meant to be inserted into a hole and look kinda like this: How did you guys handle these? Two of the holes in the clone align with holes in the Dreamcast. The instructions I've read indicated to put the pointy end in the clone board, but it seems it would make sense to actually push them down into the DC and then use screws to secure the clone to the standoff. And about the power modification? What did you folks do? What has been your experience with the heat? I assume a mod is required for all GDROM replacements? I found this guy who says you need more resistors than a single 300ohm. He made this little totem to the gods of heat dissipation:
  10. The one I played exclusively this week is the Xbox One Edition. There is also an Xbox 360 edition, a Nintendo Switch Edition, and a Playstation 4 edition. I believe the idea was to unify all the console editions into one under the Bedrock edition back in 2017. Yabba Dabba Doo Some info: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Xbox_One_Edition Edit - here's an undated article about the change to Bedrock. Looks like I'm not the only one who prefers the console specific edition. This is probably from 2017. You have to turn off your adblocker to read it https://www.usgamer.net/articles/minecraft-players-are-choosing-the-xbox-one-edition-over-the-better-together-version#:~:text=If you go to the Microsoft Store page, this version is literally a port from PC.
  11. I know that I only really noticed the tracker way back when Al posted a news item on the front page for it. I believe it was when Atarian7 passed 100k mins on Kaboom! Something like that might make new visitors to the site aware. Could also consider posting on the Facebook page. This activity might attract someone who otherwise wouldn't visit the forum.
  12. I do tend to use the web to get to their store, but if you look back at the start of this thread, I had a problem checking out on the website and got advice directly from their support to use the console for purchases. At this point, I've basically just stopped looking for anything but VR digital exclusives on their store.
  13. The problem definitely is with browsing the store. @Ayreon I absolutely have seen that problem with viewing trailers. I've gotten caught a few times not waiting and gotten stuck. However, I see the store causing problems with more than just trailers. Stuff like browsing a long search result or list of sale items seems to do it too. Just click one of the items and then try to go back to the list. I only get so much of that activity before the store slows to a crawl, and as I've mentioned, the symptoms carry over to the main menu at that point. I skipped over this in my last post - Hard Power off does fix the problem once it starts, but an easier way to deal with it is to just log out and log back in. That works great, but ya know - shouldn't be necessary. I do normally put the PS4 into rest mode, but mostly because I expect to be playing it again soon. Then I get caught 2 months later (or more) when the PS4 has been hard powered off by a power failure or something. Are any of these things really THAT big a deal? No they are not. I can play my games and be happy. However, it is surprising. The PS4 is the very latest console that I've purchased, and I didn't expect to have to use a workaround to consistently use the store and main menu. Besides the Xbox One, the PS3 didn't even have problems like this, so it is a big shocker to find this annoyance as part of the most popular gaming system in 2020. After using the Xbox One first and dealing with some of its annoyances, I actually expected PS4 to be the opposite and likely clear up all the silly choices MS made to configure its environment. Well, the menus MIGHT be better in PS4, but having to deal with these problems takes it to a whole other level of annoyance than what I've had to learn to deal with XOne. I guess the way I'm using the device has really colored my opinions as others don't seem to have the same experience, but I'm not really excited about PS5.
  14. @zzip do you browse in the playstation store often?
  15. Years later and my PS4 still gives me random behavior where it just fails to load . . . something. The PS Store is absolutely awful. I usually get to look at 4 to 6 things in there before I get a message that it can't display the content or I just get to a screen with the PS symbols changing as if its loading something and nothing ever happens. Sometimes, I can't even back out of that screen, and I am just forced to wait. Once that happens, even the PS4 dashboard is slow. The news feed won't load and the game history window won't load (the stuff below the main ribbon). I can't even click my library once it gets to this point. The only thing that works is for me is to log out and log back in and that seems to "fix" things. As long as I stay out of the store, things seem to behave as they should. However, I have lately experienced a problem where the machine just loses its internet connection. Usually this happens coming out of rest mode. All I have to do to fix it is go into the settings and uncheck/check the box for the internet connection. I have always used my PS4 on a wired LAN connection, so this is especially mysterious. This hasn't really prevented me from playing games, but it has made me much less likely to browse the store and purchase anything. I have to admit that it makes me have a little bit less confidence in buying anything from Sony considering it is their store that seems to give me such problems.
  16. X360 The First Templar 40 XOne Minecraft: Xbox One Edition 1215 Mostly Minecraft for me last week. I've been playing 100% in survival mode. My goal is to defeat the Wither and the End Dragon. Going slowly . . .
  17. A2600 Decathlon 1 Dungeon 2 Pitfall 1 Pitfall II 5 River Raid 7 Secret Quest 2 Space Invaders 2 Stargate 1 A7800 Alien Brigade 2 Asteroids 4 Scramble 4 I think I've got this 7800 I've been working on running well again. I was just testing various games. Probably will put more time on the 7800 in the coming weeks as I just bought a handful of homebrews.
  18. I bought from @evg2000 - Thanks!
  19. Yeah, this is a great deal at a time when there aren't a lot of deals on video game consoles. Someone buy this!
  20. The guys at https://www.fxvideogameexchange.com/ in Plano might be able to help. I've used them for some repairs in the past.
  21. Hey, I was just thinking that I would like to have one of those plastic tools to adjust the ferrite core. Now that you've moved on to a new unit, if you would like to recoup what you paid for the tool, I'll send you a few $$ to put it in the mail to me. PM if interested.
  22. Wasn't there someone printing and selling ProLine dual controller holders? I searched here and on the Facebook page, but couldn't find it. I would like to buy one if someone will print it for me.
  23. Not really. Maybe on your 7800, but I have at least one where the Imagic carts line up right over the wrong place and push into the posts. If I rammed them in, I'd just break the cart or the guide. I've tried a bunch of different angles and wiggles and even snapped the outer edge of the guide. They don't fit. And of course, Tigervision carts don't fit.
