What to do with a somewhat busted SF314 external drive?
hunter44102 replied to 6BQ5's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Search for Gotek Atari st. You should be able to install a Gotek instead of the 3.5 mechanism and use a flash drive to simulate floppies. -
I will contact him thanks!

ST Informer Magazines for Archiving
hunter44102 replied to ballyalley's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
A good phone camera can take pics and using apps can convert to PDF but it would take a while to do it this way. Maybe 10 seconds per page to line up and take each shot. Samsung Note 8 does really good magazine shots- 50 replies

Hopefully they clean up nicely for you, and lets hope they fire right up when you get the supply I didn't know they had such differences in ram slots, TOS and blitter even in the same model numbers. wild!

What do you use your cartridge port for?
hunter44102 replied to 6BQ5's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
NetUSBee sounds like a good use for the port - ethernet and usb ports for ST http://hardware.atari.org/netusbee/netus.htm https://lotharek.pl/productdetail.php?id=46 -
FlashFloppy v0.14 Gotek drive newbie help please
hunter44102 replied to 256 colors's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I think you set the dial to 000 then reboot the machine. At that point you have to assign which file goes to each dial number from 001 and up -
Atari 1040 STe or Atari Falcon?
hunter44102 replied to pixelmischief's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
The question to ask is 'if money was not an object, which machine to keep?'. Sounds like the STE is better for software and ST compatibility The Falcon to me is cool because I am more of a hardware guy and like that it has built in RTC, true SCSI and IDE HD and more memory and has a true VGA support so I can easily connect to anything. I can easily connect a CD rom to Scsi when needed. Since it was discontinued the software just didn't happen except for Demos and such. However things like Cubase Audio are nice and was ahead of its time -

Does anyone else have the early Atari 800 with the hand-written serial numbers and enclosed memory cartridges? As a collector I am curious if these are rare and how many were produced before they supposedly had heating issues and eliminated the enclosed memory

True VGA/HDMI for ST computers?
hunter44102 replied to hunter44102's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
In the USA there is no SCART so the quest for a VGA solution still exists. I tried 6 different VGA monitors with the cable (RGB to VGA) and none of them support the signal/resolution of the ST Will be keeping my SC1224's for now -
It would be awesome to do one more run of these, and have a built-in SCSI2SD option Of course I am just dreaming. I missed out on this and regret it now!

Atari ST buying advice please?
hunter44102 replied to 256 colors's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Windows 10 is sending thousands of telemetry packets and thousands of services running that are out of user control (all while running your emulator) . Updates downloads every few months that are 500mb or more. Not to mention that windows virus scanner can decide at any moment that your emulator is pirated or at risk and remove it. Why have all this network traffic when using an Atari emulator? If I did emulation it would be on Linux minimal install. Real hardware is still awesome, the look and feel are great and a much more static controlled environment. Of course emulators are great for testing -
True VGA/HDMI for ST computers?
hunter44102 replied to hunter44102's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Thanks Fletch checking it out -
What do we need to design a circuit that would allow -ANY- VGA or HDMI monitor to connect to ST? The Falcon has a VGA connector and it works on any monitor (even new LED backlit ones), so we know its possible even back to the 90's. So either a circuit that is soldered in the ST or possibly a conversion board that connects to the multi-sync video output It just doesn't make sense to buy a $60 VGA cable from Best Electronics that only works with very few NEC monitors. And these NEC monitors are old and use fluorescent backlights that will die sooner or later. for $60 we can buy a vga connector and some chips and use a regular 5 dollar vga cable
