  1. Trying again, this time with Firefox... No difference... Well, a small picture works - so it has to be something to do with size?.......
  2. Okay, here we go again... <sigh>....still not go, and I put them all in a directory, zipped it up, and it came to just 2.7 megs or so... but it still doesn't get here....
  3. Okay, I give up. For some reason, I can't upload any of the images. I first tried uploading all 3. I used the file attachments menu, browsed, found it, picked it, it took a minute or so up upload, then I picked "Add This Attachment", just like I do with pictures except they are not showing up. I tried it with one single image at at time, as well, with the same results. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.....
  4. Okay, gang. Here are the 3 images from U6. There are 3 floppy disks: Install Data disk 1 Data disk 2 They came out pretty large. I don't know if this is normal or not. I used "auto" for Pasti's settings. I didn't have time to test them out in any shape, form, or fashion what-so-ever. Let me know if they work okay. Thanks! PS I also wasn't sure what extension to use for naming them?
  5. Hi. Well, it wasn't really a complaint - it seems to work just fine. Yes, the Adspeed has either a CPX or ACC that will let you set 8mhz or 16mhz speed "on the fly". Very nice. Thats interesting to know. Thanks for posting the info about it. BTW, this is the first time I've used Pasti ever - I used "auto" for the settings. The resulting images seem...well, rather largish. 3 720k disks result in 3 images of 1.7 megs each. Is that pretty normal? Also, is there a specific 3 letter extension that should be used for Pasti images? (example, like *.ZIP for zipped archives). Thank you very much.
  6. Well...okay, after thinking about it for a moment, I guess its all got to do with disk timing, tied to the original STs 8mhz CPU speed. Is that right? Thanks, just curious... PS Whats the AtariAge record for replying to ones own posts?
  7. Argh, Pasti won't even work with accelerators! Geez, the Adspeed is just about as compatible as you can get....
  8. Well, heck. I just went to the Pasti web site for the latest version, and it says it won't run on a Falcon or TT030. My Mega STe is down (needs a new power supply) right now. Guess I'll have to pull my BBS down and use the Mega ST to try and do this. Its got an Adspeed (16mhz) accelerator so that should help... I'll let everyone know how it goes.
  9. Don't forget the ST Guild BBS as well. Sniperstorm has just recently resurrected it. You can reach it at: 68.106.151.246 Thanks for calling, and have fun!
  10. Okay, just never done that before - have sent pics, same concept, huh? make_1mb.zip
  11. Hi. Sorry I'm late to this thread, but I *might* have the software you're talking about. I was browsing through the General (Misc) files on my BBS, and found this: MAKE_1MB.ZIP which extracts to a folder, MAKE_1MB, which contains: MAKE_1MB.TOS There are no docs with it, but the text file description I typed in from 1997 (I was the uploader) simply says that it will force stubborn software that won't work with extended memory (more than 1 meg) to think its working in only 1 meg of RAM... If you'd like to try it, tell me where to send/upload it, or you can logon to my BBS and download it from there. Its in the File Sigs, in General (Misc). Just let me know...
  12. I'm not sure about the disks being copy protected. You can install it on your hard drive. It doesn't ask for the original install disks after that, that I can recall. Keep in mind, I've not gotten around to playing it all the way through either!. Lord British will, from time to time, ask you a question that you have to have the owners manuals to answer. Something along the lines of making sure that your player character is who they say they are... I've got my Falcon apart right now - waiting to have the battery chip socketed and replaced. I've still got my Mega ST that runs the BBS, so I'd have to do it from there... Might be a bit, if you don't mind waiting. I think I've got Hatari and STeem setup on my Linux laptop, will have to look - I've not used either in a long time so I'm sure they are older versions. I tend to prefer the "real" thing. I've never used Pasti. Can you give me the lowdown on it? Details, whatever? Thanks! Just clue me in as to what to do and I'll try to get U6 available for all. I hate to see any ST title slip into oblivion because an image could not be found/made for it...
  13. I've got Ultima VI (6). Bought it from a dealer here in the US when it was released, but I'm uncertain as to whether or not he imported it, as was the case so many times with ST titles... Its hard drive installable and even runs on the Falcon.... I have to confess, I'm a bit disapporinted in the graphics in certain sections of the games. It looks like they ported the EGA or CGA images over without taking advantage of the Atari STs hardware... They did 256 color VGA for the PC, I'd love to have seen that for the Falcon!

  16. Hmm, I sometimes have trouble getting my ideas across... I meant replace the LCD sceen thats currently in the STacy for one that will handle all the rez's...I really don't want an external monitor... The matrix would be a great solution as far as better rez's and colors go though... For sure... maybe then feed that into a replacement LCD that could handle all the signals? *That* would be the coolest!
  17. I'm just wondering, since Ben Heckendorn did it with that 8bit laptop he built, why couldn't someone replace the current STacy screen with an LCD that does the correct synching so that color resolutions could be used as well? http://www.benheck.com/Games/Atari_800/Ata...00_laptop_1.htm The signal is already there - there is an external monitor connector, right? That would be pretty awesome, IMHO...
  18. Hmm, do you all think this was just a totally random event, or maybe very dependent on hardware? Because I can remember playing this game for literally weeks and months, and I don't remember the problem you're describing. I do remember it was 1 meg 1040 ST and later, a 4 meg 1040 STe that I played it on...
  19. You've very welcome. Thanks for being a regular caller at DarkForce...
  20. Except for the beams, which sounds sort of not familiar, your description reminds me of "Targhan". Go to this link, scroll down and check out the screenshots. Maybe you can tell if its the one you're thinking of. http://www.atarimagazines.com/startv4n8/fo..._fun_of_it.html
  21. I remember my problem was using Windows telnet. It works fine if I use telnet from the command line. I'm forced (beaten/enslaved) to use Windows at work (NT). From there the command line works fine, as does Hyperterminal. What exactly was it that it said, errors or whatever... Hyperterminal sure -looks- better, at least from work, with its ANSI support.
  22. I'm glad you liked it. Its an excellent product. You should also thank "Techie" Alison Challis for gratiously contributing a PEST to our monthly giveaways. Hmm, what troubled did you have logging on to DarkForce? Give me the details and I'll see what I can do. Final Frontier is awesome (for a text based game). There is just so much depth there. We need more players - the more the merrier, and those darned Satharians (computer AI) are always happy to thrash, er see new players. Good luck!
  23. Jens, you do know Dan and I were just kidding, right? Seriously, you're lucky to have 2, and I'm envious, as I'm sure many are but I'd never give you grief over it or try to pressure you into selling one. I say enjoy the heck out of them.
  24. Dan, I'm sure you've already visited their website, but the latest entry under "News" I see for May 19th is: "We have now soldered, programmed and tested 12 boards. Out of those only 8 works perfectly. The others either cause the falcon not to start at all or have problems either with the USB part or the ethernet. So you people at the end of our list of orders will unfortunately have to prepare for further delays, since we have to fix each of these boards. Currently we're just taking notes of which boards have problems and take another board instead so that we'll get the first batch ready as soon as possible. We will do the first send out as soon as we have at least 10 working boards (rounded up so that each person gets the correct number of boards)." Still got my fingers crossed.
