  1. No - I've got two of them. One with one, one with four megs of ram... Some guys have all the luck... Actually Dan, I was thinking if we could get his address, you and I can go relieve him of the burden of owning 2 of them...
  2. Considering there are 2600 and 7800 versions, I'd like to see what it would look like too. I believe there is a Lynx version as well, IIRC...
  3. Good luck. Rodolphe Czuba (CT60) called for takers on a CT60 like project for the TT. Sadly, he couldn't get enough TT owners to commit...
  4. Hmm, I've been unable to logon here today. Is your BBS down right now? Thanks!
  5. Gotcha - it's worth a shot, I just don't recall for sure if it's GEM based or not I'm going to pull out my UV disks here and see if what happens... I can tell you what will happen. You'll start playing it again, drawn in by its wonderful story-line (best of the ST series, IMHO), and we'll not see or hear from you for the next 2-3 months! I always loved that game. I do remember it being disk-access intensive though. In fact, I'm pretty sure I put one of those "cacheing" programs in the AUTO folder of the game. I believe it was "cachennn.prg" where you renamed the "nnn" to whatever size cache you wanted. I think I ran mine at 1/2 meg, 512k...and it made the game much faster. Larger values just seemed to be counter-productive. Of course, this was on an ST that had at least 1 meg of RAM. Have fun, and beware the ShadowLords!
  6. AFAIK that's not going to help. ESC certainly forces GEM to attempt a media change detect, but I don't think Ultima V is GEM based. RIght. Thats why I said, ", I just don't know if it will work with a game thats taken over the whole system." Seriously, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try, but I think you are right... Later...
  7. Hmm, IIRC, the player/underground disk is the one you -can- make a backup copy of? Its been a very long time since I played and beat this game. If so, I'd back it up right away. Another user suggested a TOS problem, maybe media detection. If so, when you change the disk, try hitting <esc> on the keyboard before saving or when it gives that error. Thats how you force TOS to make a media change from the desktop, I just don't know if it will work with a game thats taken over the whole system. HTHs.
  8. I don't know, If I were you, I'd e-mail him right away and ask him. Good luck.
  9. I guess playing games does pay off. Actually, you were picked at random from last months 8bit callers... but our game players do win as well BTW, Steven Tucker said he would get that cart out to you in just a few days. (and I'd like to take a moment and thank him once again for such a gracious gesture!)

  12. Hmm, you using any of the mouse accelerator software thats out there? I think even the basic one by Atari made the mouse action easier to live with. As far as your 8bit goes - there is a fairly inexpensive keyboard upgrade, ($30 or so) from Best Electronics that you can use on almost any XE class 8bit. I'm not sure but I think that would include the XEGS.
  13. As far as that goes, some of the cheaper accelerators are still available from places like Best Electronics and B&C Computevision... I think the Adspeed (16mhz) and T28s can still be purchased. Note that most of these will require removal of the old CPU. As you said though, some of these are pretty expensive - especially the '030 stuff.
  14. Another poster answered some of your questions, so I've snipped those. 4 megs is the top limit that came with the Mega ST series. However, Best Electronics sells a board that will add an additional 8 megs of TT type RAM. TOS can be upgraded to v2.06, which is highly desirable, and is even necessary to use the 8 meg RAM board that I mentioned. Also, as the other poster mentioned, these boards and addons are fairly expensive, although I feel that they are worth it, and your ST certainly deserves it. and you're right - the Mega ST, Mega STe, and TTs keyboards are much improved over the stock 520/1040s...
  15. Okay, I tried this with my Falcon, which I've got MINT installed on. Basically, it does work. The scrolling output is stopped and started with this keyboard combo. Only problem I had, was once, early in the boot process, it kicked me out to a plain TOS desktop and complained there was no "drive S". Also, I had to be fairly quick with my setup (95mhz CT60).
  16. Thats a pretty good deal. You're gonna have a lot of fun! Be sure and post here if you have any questions. Someone will jump right in and try to help.
  17. Heh. Great minds think alike... Be looking forward to those pics!
  18. Oh yeah, backup is a *necessity* not an option. I've got the latest ExtenDOS version, and will order the new CDWriter suite (DVD support!) once its released (I've got the last release). I've used the products from Roger Burrows and Anodyne Software for years and can very highly recommend them. They rock. I beta tested recently with them, and was able to use an IDE DVD with my CT60 Falcon. It was just amazing to go to the nearest Wal-mart, pick up a Lite-On DVD, plug it into my 1992 Falcon, and use it. I've actually got CD backups from the 90's. I backup my BBS software to CD about once a month now. I don't have a 2nd hard drive, but I"m thinking about that. Later...
  19. First, thanks for that listing. Very helpful. Now, how about some pics of your "fully armed and operational Falcon computer!"? Check out my sig, go to my website and look at my black Falcon. Of course, I'm only using black until I can find something *darker*...
  20. Wow, sounds like pretty exciting STuff to me!
  21. I know the SCSI driver that I use with my BBS has been very reliable. Its a 4 gig Seagate. It ran from about '95 through '99, then we took a 5 year break, then reopened last year. So its 11 years old, with about 6 years of continuous usage, and I mean continuous. If you've ever run a BBS, then you know just how much the hard drive gets thrashed, er, used.
  22. I guess he's talking about Windows XP? I don't use/have it (ugh!), but seems like I've heard others say its picky about what format it will read. Maybe high density (1.44) only, or something like that? Maybe someone who uses Windog XP here can tell us.
  23. whats your name on there? can anyone access the file base? I tried just now and got this: "You Do Not Have Access To This Function..." Might want to check your settings.
  24. Hmm, am I seeing that picture right? Its got the 6 socket setup, with 2 TOS ROMs in place? Seems to me you could just stick in TOS 1.04 and have an updated TOS, etc, etc,... Just a thought.
  25. Okay, got on this time, mucho thanks!
