Yep. If I had already committed to upgrading this far, I'd
go ahead and spring for one of Lotharek's internal adapters:
https://lotharek.pl/productdetail.php?id=49
https://lotharek.pl/productdetail.php?id=47
Or one of Alan H.'s internal adapters, if you can find one. I've
got Alan's in my STacy and Lotharek's in my Mega STe.
No more 1 gig limit.

Well, I don't have one of those Wizztronics boards, but that sounds promising.

On 6/6/2020 at 3:32 PM, tf_hh said:The main problem of the most accelerator boards is a dirty implementation of the cache hit/miss logic. For example, some early PAK versions won´t also run with TOS 2.0x, because their initial logic didn´t recognize the TOS 2.0x memory area ($E0000-$E3FFFF).
I have only "HyperCache ST" from proVME (16 MHz with 16 KByte cache) boards for the ST series. They work in 2 different Mega ST and works fine with my and other TOS 2.0x solution. IMHO these proVME ones were the only one really 100% working accelerators (can speak for the german market only).
Some other accelerators like the HBS240 and other have nasty, hard to catch problems. In some conditions they work flawless, in other environments (specially MIDI equipment with their dongles) spurious problems occours.
Can understand, the power of a BBS with 8 MHz standard isn´t a pleasure. That´s why I wrote a lot of parts in my BBS software ("Madness Mailbox-System") in pure assembler
So my take from this reply is I'd have to buy it and try it to see?
Thanks.

A lot of colorful endings there...

Quick question regarding the TOS switcher for the Mega ST...
As this has come up countless times - will it work with an accelerator board such
as the AdSpeed or T-boards?
In the past, there's always been a conflict which will not let them work together.
It's why I don't have TOS v2.06 on the Mega ST that I use to run DarkForce.
Oh, before anyone mentions it, I won't give up the accelerator for this computer,
it makes the BBS so much "snappier" that I wouldn't give it up.
Thanks (and thanks for supporting the Atari community)!

At the top of the message thread I'd started to say, just ask PP.

Okay, "Bombs Away" week is officially over at the DarkForce! BBS.
I hope everyone had fun with it. At best, it's a light hearted attempt at
humor for our callers. At worst, it can drive you crazy.
I'd like to thank everyone who (willingly or UN-willingly) participated.
Until next year, "ka-boom".
PS Oh, here's a screenshot showing the obituary and what happened to
those who failed to defuse their bombs.

Forgot to announce this yesterday but yes, we're going to do a
"Bombs away"
week here at DarkForce, commencing today and lasting until this next Saturday, June 6th (D-Day, what a coincidence!).
Just pick "D" for Deliver E-mail Bomb from the main menu. The menu is pretty self explanatory, but basically you pick users from the DarkForce BBS you want to "bomb" and up to your bomb limit, you do so. They are given an opportunity to guess who sent the bomb. If they are wrong, they are then terminated (disconnect). If they guess right, they are shown who sent the bomb so they can retaliate. Users have a limited amount of bombs and only so many bombs can be stacked on any 1 caller.
Good luck, have fun and
B O O M !
PS Oh, don't forget to check the Obituary for funny user "deaths".

Here is the lucky winner for May 2020 at The DarkForce! BBS:
May 2020
1. Stephen wins Beyond Zork (Atari ST) !
--------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations to our winner, and thanks to all our callers!
PS Stephen, I need your actual/physical address.

You bet they are:
http://www.anodynesoftware.com/
I use Roger Burrows (great guy!) software on DarkForce (my BBS) for
backup with a 2x SCSI CD-ROM.
Good stuff, highly recommended.
-
If that's a 5 1/4" opening (and it looks like it) you could always add a CD...
Just a (random) thought.

Right, that's the way I remember it.
Sterling, Virginia - wasn't that their address?
Joe and his wife did a lot of work out of their home, aside from regular day job(s), IIRC.

Current Notes is awesome. The team behind it was simply
amazing and some of the nicest people ever.
I was fortunate enough to write a couple of articles for
them, wished I'd taken the time to write more.
Miss them much.....

You're most welcome!

This seems to have done the trick - users are reporting that
the new address is working fine.
Thanks everyone.
-
Well, as reported to my by a couple of DarkForce "regulars", (or should
I say "irregulars"?
) , the new address is working fine. Hope that
takes care of that situation.

So per user requests, I've added another alias for telnetting
into the DarkForce! BBS.
There are now 2 routes:
darkforce-bbs.dyndns.org (the original)
and
darkforcebbs.dyndns.org
The second is for comms software that balks at anything
non standard (such as the dash) that is entered.
Please test and let me know if it's not working....
Thanks!
