  1. The prize for April 2020 at the DarkForce! BBS is: A Monitor Master by Practical Solutions! This nifty little item will allow you to easily switch between a color monitor (SC1224 or SC1435) and a monochrome monitor (SC124 or SC125). Good luck and thanks to all our callers!
  2. Here's a picture of my STacy's US setup (sorry, not highest quality):
  3. Most of the time, I logon to Atari Age for great Atari content, witty conversation, and lots of camaraderie. Today, I got the above... /sigh.
  4. Well, I've got a US in my STacy, which has the opening on the right side so it's easily accessible. In the case of my Mega STe, the hard drive cover houses the internal US mechanism, so if you leave the 1 single screw loose, you can easily raise it up and access the US, which has the card section pointed right at you. I thought about running a SD card extension cable to the VME cover on the backplane but it was posted that there are errors with the cards when you extend them too far so I kind of abandoned that idea. I can see where it would be problematic on standard ST/STe cases though. You'd have to modify the case to have access, I'm assuming most people use the floppy bay.
  5. Okay, update. I went ahead and purchased HDDriver v11.01 from Uwe. The English manual will come later but I was allowed to download the ZIP file almost immediately. Using HDDriver v11.01, I was able to setup up a 2 gig Sandisk card with four partitions of 490 megs + and access them all with no problems. <shrugs> Still don't know what I did with version 8.46, but it's all good now. Thanks all.
  6. Well, that's an interesting app. Card needs to be formatted first, and they advise you in the docs not to use it on a card with files on it already. So as you mentioned, good for new cards that you've just set up. Not so good for cards already in play, with lots of files on them. I'll be using it on any new SD cards I get. Thanks again for pointing it out.
  7. Downloaded this and will try it out. Thanks for the link!
  8. Well, it's possible but these are cards that have been bought from several different sources, so...
  9. Anyone else having any problems with the v1.2 internal Ultrasatan from Lotharek? It's probably me, doing something wrong but I can't seem to get around it... I've got a handful of 2 gig Sandisk cards and it's doing the same thing on 3 that I've setup. I'm using HDDriver v8.46 at the moment. I boot up with a floppy on my Mega STe, and do a minimal install on the cards. TOS/WIN compatibility, 4 partitions, around 4xx megs each. The partitions are C, D, E, and F. All seems good at first. 4 partitions show up, Show Info says they are the right size, etc. Then, when I reboot, the last partition "F", disappears. I add it back manually but then TOS says it doesn't exist anymore. Also, on at least 1 card (I've not tried the other 2) the last partition now E, won't hold it's reported size in space. Anyone else had these problems and if so, know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. PS Checked the 2 gig Sandisk card I'm using in my STacy and for whatever reason I set it up as 4 partitions of 256 megs each, with only TOS format checked. It will boot up in the Mega STe with this card and the Mega STe's card will boot up in my STacy (resolution differences aside). Odd - I remember using the whole 2 gigs <shrugs>. So I'm thinking there's nothing wrong with the internal US, I'm just setting something wrong... Any ideas?
  10. My apologies, never meant for that to happen - should have PM'ed you instead.
  11. Now that I've got my Mega STe back up and running, I'll be going through the games I have, time notwithstanding, shared between work, family, life, etc. If you've got extra time on your hands <nudge, nudge, wink, wink> how about adapting the Phantasie RPG games (there are 3 of them), and Legend of Faerghail? I don't remember seeing them on your impressive list of already converted games. (if they are, apologies). Thanks, and thanks again for all the hard work on these wonderful games!
  12. Will look at it closer when I've got some extended time off. Thanks for the advice/info.
  13. Ugh, not sure I've got the soldering skills to do this. I surely don't have a heat gun.
  14. Hmm, and that's all? I did notice that in one state the top green LED goes dark when a caller is online, and in the other state it blinks... Thanks for the reply!
  15. That's like the STacy's these days - last couple I saw on Ebay were priced at $1200 + !
  16. Looked through the Lantronix UDS-10 manual but I'm having trouble figuring something out... Exactly what is the difference between disconnect mode "C0" and "C1"? Thanks.
  17. Pictures man, pictures! If we can't see it, it's only rumor, myth, legend and theoretical possibilities!
  18. Okay, got all the stuff in I needed to install the internal US. Note that I'm going to add some more risers to bring the US closer to the bottom for easier SD card access. Now, just need someone to figure out how to add Leech's excellent LEDs.
  19. Hmm, probably mostly off-topic but did everyone else who ordered a US from Lotharek get a wrapped piece of candy with it? I swear, I had to open it up first - I was scratching my head trying to figure out what it was and where it went in an US installation.
  20. Hmm, odd. Did you format it with DOS compatibility? (1.4) The 2 gig Sandisk cards I use work great with Kubuntu Linux here, with Mtools. Of course, it is command line driven and some people don't like that....
  21. Huh. After re-reading his post, I see what you mean. Oh well, apologies if I caused any confusion...
  22. Wow, you got quite a bit accomplished there! What's your budget? If it's upper range/few limits I just bought a very large desk from here: https://www.versatables.com/educational-furniture/classroom-desks They are expensive but built like tanks. I meant to order mahogany (like in the pictures) but accidentally picked maple. It's grown on me though. My desk is 6' x 3' and I've got a Win PC in the right hand side with the tower monitor and my Mega STe on the left side, with room for my STacy snuggled up in between. I love it.
  23. Okay, found a 2 pack of those cables on Amazon and ordered it. I'll see how it goes and report back here. Once I get everything in place, that is....
