At what price would you sell your collection?
MattG/Snyper2099 replied to weezle's topic in Atari 2600
2600 collection or the ENTIRE thing? I don't know. I think if I had to, I could sell my arcades individually and get about $4,000. That's what would go first. I doubt I'll ever sell my 2600 collection or collection of all the carts I have (1,500+). It's cost way to much to let it go to money. I WOULD sell it if someone was crazy. (Like say 20K crazy.) -
Great read. Good to hear Bill is still willing to support his game fans!

If I find valuable stuff for a system I don't care about like sega CD (ICK!!!), then off to ebay it goes. I got $85 for a mint copy of snatcher I paid $5 at a yard sale a few years back. I'm sure I spent the money on my 2600 collection though.

So is Maxi 15 and the other AVE games on your list. There's a difference between rarity and availability. You could be searching the wild hardcore for 20 years and never see an ADE or any of the Aladdin games. Yet if you've got approx. $80, you can buy one just about any day of the week on eBay. I think the reason that these games are so rare is because they weren't "readily avialable" to most people. By that logic, Stadium Events shouldn't count as an official release for anyone living outside of New York State. Here's my opinion of the rarest licensed retail releases (not to be confused with availability): -Stack Up (if complete) -Flinstones Surprise... -Stadium Events -Bonk's Adventure Don't forget Little Samson... hella rare.

Well, I have had these avaialable for sale/trade for quite some time now: F-18 Hornet Touchdown Football Ace of Aces Dark Chambers Commando Title Match Pro Wrest. Double Dragon Super Skatebrdin Pete Rose Baseball They are all loose and NTSC. Oh, and please don't send a PM saying how much, please make an offer for what these are worth.

What third party co made games for the 2600 after the crash?
MattG/Snyper2099 replied to kyle's topic in Atari 2600
Mythacon Ultravision Telegames Froggo American Videogames (Tax avoiders was 84 I think) -
Menace beach was one that wasn't liscensed that wasn't mentioned. It's certainly in the top 20 rares (right there with secret scout). As far as regular released liscensed games go (no recalls or any of that crap), Bubble bobble part II is the hardest one to find complete for sure. Stadium events is rarer but, is similar to lochjaw if you thunk about it. Not desired by every collector. Tengen tetris, bah! I've had two of those over the years and the complete on I pieced together for under $30. Paid 5-10 ea. for instructions, cart, and box IIRC.

I think the game is worth around $100 loose. It's right there in the middle as far as rarity 9's go. $45 is a good price. I've never seen it sell for under $75.

WANTED TO BUY: SUNDAY FUNDAY NES GAME $25
MattG/Snyper2099 replied to RandomPerson's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
You haven't been able to buy the NES ones from wisdom tree for well over a year. -
I think it's more because the Nintendo generation has a lot more money to burn. I've been seeing things trump NEO GEO prices in the world of Nintendo collecting lately. It also helps that most of the people who are visable in the videogame world today started out on Nintendo, not Atari. Just take a look at all the current gaming magazines. Whenever they write a nostalgic article being a best of or what have you, it always starts out in 1985 with the launch of the NES. The Atari's become a footnote in gaming history and will become even more obscure as us old geezers who are old enough to have owned a VCS back in '77 move into bigger hobbies. Videogames were still a new novelty when we were growing up and the RPG is a recent phenomenon so many GenXers simply didn't get as into games as people do today. I've also noticed that most of my friends' as they've moved up in the world, haven't stopped collecting things; they've just moved on to more expensive items like sportscars and sail boats. I'm sure I'm not the only one seeing this. Well, I'm starting in on pinball machines... Those can get fairly pricey. I hope exotic cars is next. I always wanted a 1965 Plymouth turbine.

Well, in short the reason I think NES dominates in todays' market is simply because Nintendo is still in business and they are pumping out those "classic" NES titles on their current systems. They get a lot more exposure than similar classic remake titles on PS2 and the like. I know there is Activision anthology and Atari Annaversary but those efforts seem to be minimal compared with Nintendo's saturation of the market. Nintendo knows their audience very well, Sony and Infogrames not as well in my eyes. They should take some notes. On to some other things... Many people collect sealed atari stuff, boxed atari stuff, atari posters, atari arcade games, atari lunch boxes, action figures even... The list could go on forever. The point I'm trying to make is that reguardless of the collectable, there are always "completists" that must have it all in untouched condition. I love to have complete stuff but can't really stand it when video games are "sealed". It probably goes back to thrifting days before markets like e-bay existed. You could go into goodwill and buy a box of 50 atari games with a system for $10. Those days are long gone now. Even goodwill sells stuff that people donate to them on the internet now. I think every hobby kind of starts like this. Comic book nuts look for old comic books in bulk... same with baseball card and video game and luchbox and toy nuts. But reguardless of how it starts, I have noticed that it never really ends like this. Everything just gets sucked into this black hole of nostalgia that is nothing more than an infinite vacuum.

2600 10s: who owns air raid, ecpc, eli's ladder, karate
MattG/Snyper2099 replied to CincYnoTi's topic in Rarity Guide
Just to clarify, my cart has a game on it. It's pele's soccer. -
Just wanted to say that I have a the PCB with all the roms but it doesn't really work. Every onne in a while it will power up but most of the time I get a solid green screen. I've replaced the CPU,TIA and MPU with no success. I've also read through the service manual and that is worthless in my eyes.
-
I guess it depends on what "collection" you're talking about. All of my arcades + MAME's are from the wild. Every single system I own is from the wild or events like PC. But, I'd say 300 of the 500 from my 2600 collection are from on line sources. That means 40% of my 2600 carts are from the wild but almost everything else is from the wild. (40+ systems and over 1,000 carts over the years)

I am in need of 4 POKEYS. Anyone in this thread have bulk 7800 ballblazers for under $5? -
Doc Holiday's in the basement of Western Bowl in Cincinnati, OH. Like 1 mile from where I grew up. There is a big national bowling tournament there called the Hoinke Classic. The basement is now empty from what I can tell. They closed the "arcade" back in 2000 I believe. There are a few classic games upstairs in the bowling alley still. From what I understood, they are some of the origional ones the bowling alley actually owns outright. There was a ms. pac, galaga, and a few pins last time I was there. That was where I learned how to play SFII, among many other classics. They even had tokens with doc holiday himself on them. Good times!

I was curious. I found a NTSC "The year 1999" and it is the exactc label scanned here on atariage under Rainbowvision. I'm sure it could just have the same label though.
-
You might be able to get a 1-slot for a little over $200 but generally, that is a low price. I'd expect to pay closer to $400 for a dedicated cabinet. You could also post on the www.neo-geo.com message boards in their marketplace forum. I've dealt with some good people there but some can be uptight.
-
So, has anyone ever run across a NTSC version of a rainbowvision game?

Poll: How many people currently own Cannon Man?
MattG/Snyper2099 replied to gulcjeremy's topic in Atari 2600
I have one. It's likely that at least 50 atariage members have this game. -
Best thing i've seen on ebay in a while....
MattG/Snyper2099 replied to chuckwalla's topic in Auction Central
I feel the same way. I'm proud to say that I've obtained every single CV game in my 65 game collection in the wild or through trades. I know I'll have to start shopping e-bay if I want to finish my collection though.
