  1. If I ever developed an Atari Jaguar game, I'd definitely use these.
  2. Fascinating. I'll definitely have to get one. From a developer POV, I'm curious about how the bank switching works within a game. I'm sure there's documentation about this somewhere on the Atari Age forums.
  3. ADAMCon IV was the only ADAMCon that I attended with my father. I remember being blown away by Chris Braymen's MIDI demo and later asking him to create music for my game. Truly a fantastic experience.
  4. Micro Innovations was my father's company. The last project he worked on was the AdamNet hard drive, which he could never get working quite right. I remember when he was thinking of designing interface cards for computers that did not yet have hard drive support. I begged him to do one for the Coleco ADAM, and I guess you could say, the rest is history.
  5. Great thread! That reminds me...I've got a couple unopened copies of Zaxxon Supergame Pack in original packing (the cardboard arcade box) that I should probably put up on eBay. EDIT: The game I would have loved to have seen made into a Supergame is Fortune Builder, though Spy Hunter would have been awesome, too.
  6. I'm still looking around, but I did find a program on page 21 of the October 1986 issues of Nibbles & Bits (by Digital Express) that creates underscore fonts and changes the inverse fonts. Sorry, things are in boxes and I'm still trying to find things. For what it's worth: http://www.segordon.com/coleco_dev/newsletters/nibbles-and-bits-october-1986.pdf
  7. Sure. Digital Express created a program for the Coleco ADAM called FontPOWER to do exactly this. You could use the fonts included on the DDP or create your own. The manual includes a brief SmartBASIC program to send the fonts to the VDP. I have it around here somewhere and will post it if I come across it.
  8. I'm not sure how well known Free Play Orlando is in the retro game community, but they have an event coming up in November that I'm thinking of attending. Since I live about 10-15 minutes away, it might be worth $25/$30 + $5 parking to check it out for 1 day. Attending as a vendor isn't all that expensive ($175 for an 8-foot table + internet + power outlet + 2 weekend passes). It might be fun to set up an upgraded ColecoVision Flashback unit as well as a Coleco ADAM or ColecoVision + Super Game Module and show off some of the newer releases. From the website: About Free Play Florida Free Play Florida 2017 is an exciting three day event that encompasses a complete Pinball, Arcade, and Console gaming experience. This November 17th thru the 19th, 2017 Free Play Florida is being held at the beautiful Doubletree Sea World by Hilton right off I-4 and International Drive. All of your classic and current pinball and arcade games will be on display for you to play, join the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) sanctioned pinball tournament and compete with the best in the state of Florida, , sit in on our speaker panels that include industry icons, and visit our valued vendors selling parts, memorabilia, and some of the coolest themed art on the planet! http://wp.freeplayflorida.com/?page_id=1595 Vendor/Sponsor Information http://wp.freeplayflorida.com/?page_id=1480
  9. Great video, Metal Jesus. I met Chris Braymen of Sierra fame at ADAMCon IV, who was trying to make the leap from musician to programmer at the time. He showed off his MIDI program for the Coleco ADAM and later agreed to do the music for an RPG that I had in development. Eventually the RPG got shelved and we didn't have any further contact. It's a shame. It could have been really special.
  10. I'm surprised I didn't think of this before: Venture II / Venture RPG
  11. Fascinating read about the Blue Sky Rangers. I had no idea He Man was so close to completion. http://www.intellivisionlives.com/bluesky/games/credits/coleco.html#masters
  12. Just in case others find it useful, I've done a complete breakdown of the default ASCII character sets embedded on the Coleco OS7 and SmartWRITER ROMs. ASCII character 32 of the ColecoVision BIOS can be found at location 5539 (00x15A3h): http://www.segordon.com/coleco_dev/os7-default-char-set.txt ASCII character 0 of the Coleco ADAM SmartWRITER ROM can be found at location 772 (00x0304h): http://www.segordon.com/coleco_dev/smartwriter-default-char-set.txt

  14. Once I get back up to speed, I hope to add a project of my own to your list.
