  1. I love 'em both, and the INTY has some neat games not seen on other platforms - but I'd pick the CV over the INTY.
  2. I saw a couple of these today. All the games look vaguely Genesis/SNESish. They all have generic names (i.e. "Jump!") above the pics on the box. None of them looked familiar as "real" games that I know, but I didn't look for all that long.
  3. They refunded my money the day after I got their email. They did cancel my order as well, I checked my account. I ordered from GBAX, though I don't know when they'll ship.
  4. I use a kensington optical trackball that sticks to the CP via velcro so I can remove it. It serves as my spinner, trackball and analog control. It works really well for most of these uses. Also is used for games that use a 270 or 360 wheel. While obviously not as good as a wheel, it gets the job done. While it would be nice to have some other dedicated controls, I like having a CP that not only matches the cab, but doesn't have a million things sticking out of it. I hate the look of some of the four foot long monstrosities that I've seen.
  5. I don't see many reports of problems so far at all, and I like what I'm seeing for new emus popping up already. I'm going to order one, so good news for those who will wait and see, they'll be a v2 just to f* me.
  6. The lifelike springy hair rendering, it's all about THE HAIR!!!
  7. Bingo! Q4 was a rush job. Of the bad kind. If it was the only game at launch, you'd think wow this hardware must suck. But compared to the other titles it sticks out like a sore thumb Which brings up another point. I am amazed at just how good looking the current titles are given they most likely have little or no optimization!
  8. I believe it's compatible in the same way a regular STE would be compared to a 1040. But due to the differences there's going to be games that break. So not 100% Though if you were only running apps, I wouldn't worry about it.
  9. Believe me, there's a massive improvement - it's not hype. And the 360 looks far and away better than a 9700Pro based PC. Spot on about needing a good HDTV set. Even most of the MS 360 kiosks I saw had shitty LCD sets on them. That really just doesn't help. One of my favorite retarded 360 comparisons so far that I've seen involved some moron's photographs of his crappy 4:3 NTSC $60 Kmart television showing the Xbox and the 360 side by side. "Look see, there's hardly any difference". Uhhhh OK
  10. Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting what you or others here have witnessed. My comments aren't directed at anyone here, just what I'm seeing across the internet/media spectrum. The people here are thankfully not the general internet populace
  11. Yes I did mod it. I used an X-chip and I did the work long before any solderless adapters, and actually before there were any instructions for anything over 1.5 I had to use kynar wire and it was a bit of a hairy soldering job. I'm not sure about the new solderless adapters though. The green limited is going to be the xbox that survives on the "active" shelves as my supreme emulation box as I'm making a home for the 360
  12. Hey Beavis, he said "Nintendo" and "3rd party" Heh Heh Heh Heh
  13. Mine is a 1.6 as were a few others that I saw.
  14. Yup broken promises abound, the old gaming history is chock full of 'em. Though I will point this out about two examples here, both the GC BBA and the PS2 HD were used to great success by many a happy gamer. Just not quite the way Sony and Nintendo were planning
  15. Well the 360 got the family Thanksgiving workout today. On for 12 or more hours straight, no problems at all. Gamers and non gamers alike were really impressed by the system. My father has never picked up any type of game controller or shown much interest, but he was riveted by the beauty and sheer chaos of battle of COD2. PD was the group gaming favorite, NFS MW was the preferred racer, COD2 wowed everyone, and Condemned made just about everyone jump. My mother even left the room because it was freaking her out The classic coin ops were a huge hit with the retro lovers as well. Gauntlet and Joust were played quite a bit.
  16. Yeah, same crap as always. The competing system fanboys, the insanely jealous, the (insert name here) corporation haters. And of course the general population of asshats on the internet. X R00lz Y Sux0rs For once it would be nice if people were just rational and actually waited to see something before judging, spreading nonsense or jumping on the hate bandwagon. Actually it would be nice if the majority of human beings weren't complete and utter self centric assholes, but there ya have it.
  17. I absolutely agree. From everything I've experienced so far anyone who continues to use that moniker has to be either completely jealous, completely in denial, a complete fanboy, or have expectations that "next gen" means it should have such power that it's AI can top the human brain and still vibrate itself to the kitchen and make you breakfast. Is it perfect in every way possible - no. Is it as - or more next gen then the PS2 and GC were over their predecessors? Absolutely.
  18. Well, spent more time on Live arcade - multiplayer internet Gauntlet, Joust and Smash TV, yeah - this rocks!! Give me more classics! Also picked up Need for Speed Most Wanted. It is awesome I absolutely loved the old NFS franchise, and have stayed away from most of the Underground/thug/tuner crap. NFS MW though is absolutely stunning! Fantastic gameplay (even though it has the tuner vibe, and "urban" music selection) - The police are back! Yes!!! Cruising around from place to place and accidentally triggering a police chase from my driving, and the police radio chatter ABSOLUTELY rules! I love it And the graphics are unf*ingbelievable! And I can substitute the FULL collection of MP3's stored on my server for the ingame music, and control them anytime ingame with the 360 blade interface BRILLIANT!! Oh and one more thing - that DVD drive may be a noisy bastard, but the load times are FANTASTIC!
  19. Hmm, I built a few 2 chip ones, though I'll be damned if I can find the schematics. It was easy and I piggybacked the chips onto one another. The whole assembly fit nicely in a shielded DB25 housing. Though as Mindfield said, getting one from Steve at Atarimax is a nice easy way to go. I have one of his and built a little housing for it, I like the LEDs
  20. I got two of the three extra units I was supposed to get. Needless to say they're gone already, and I uh, did well
  21. Yikes!, well there's one plus for Atari these days
  22. Yes, I know F.E.A.R. is an impressive looking game, and even more so on my $2500 PC. and I could take pictures of my HDTV 360, but it's sort of pointless. There are many things I've seen on the 360 so far that equal and surpass what I've seen in both F.E.A.R. / Doom 3, etc. on the PC. Anyhow the question put forth was "Which has better graphics and gameplay, a top of the line PC with the best graphics card money can buy or an XBOX 360?" And a top of the line PC with the best graphics card wins. And that's most certainly not a $700-$800 machine.
  23. No offense - as looks is a perceived thing. But I've got a built for gaming rig (and always have), and the 360 is very close so far in many respects. No $800 PC is going to look quite as shiny as the 360 at the moment.
  24. You're right to a degree, and that's what I usually tell console players who own PCs. PC dev teams have to write to Mr. "I Won't Spend More than $400 on a Computer" with his $25 graphics card. Console teams write to a unified hardware base. That's why the Xbox at it's launch was topping the high end PCs. That's why high end PC gamers pay a high price then suffer a lot of crap looking games for the ones that shine
  25. I can only hope he stuck it up his ass in front of a bunch of hemorrhoid suffers in a "Defiant Act" against the suppository industry.
