They are probably still using those Atari Systems.

The real question is: What if Atari skipped the 5200 and released the 7800 in 1982 instead? Hmmm...

Pretty sure Sega had more $$ for development than Atari did back then. Atari was relying on smaller dev houses hoping they'd come up with something amazing while Sega was buying the "wow" factor in their games.

What about porting the games instead? Could probably use most of the source code and make the needed changes to get it to run on a 68000.

I'm with AtariLeaf, I'd rather have a Retron 5! As for the question: I think Sony's got this one. The price and the way they've handled everything is just right. MS on the other hand... <Sigh> I think they got a bit full of themselves. Over charging and then dictating certain aspects (no used games, Kinect must be always on, etc.) Sure, they walked back from it, but the damage was done. I'm thinking this: When the Xbox 360 was released, it was priced at $399. When the PS3 was released, it was crazy priced at $599. Xbox 360 had a good head start, but the PS3 eventually caught up and surpassed the 360's sales. Now, it'll be reversed: The PS4 will have the pricing advantage while the XBox One is overpriced this time. With Sony's determination, I honestly don't see MS catching up.

Man, I was just reminiscing about Electronics Boutique (NOT E/B Games!) the other day. Too bad they got absorbed into GameStop... It's horror stories like these that make me shy away from buying traded-in games. What gets me is that sometimes the new copy is just a few dollars more than a used (and obviously torn to shreds) copy. Why not just pay the extra couple of bucks?

No sarcasm at all, I'm completely serious! I think this will be a big hit for Hyperkin. Aside from missing our beloved Atari systems, this is about as perfect as a retro console can get. I can't wait to buy one!

Darn. Was hoping for Half-Life 3... The Turbo Touch 360 also came to my mind when I saw that controller. I actually "won" one for the NES back in the day. I suspect they were actually just GIVING them away because the sucked so bad.

How about Dig Dug and the enemy characters? Or how about Pitfall Harry, the Demon Attack birds, the Mad Bomber from Kaboom, Combat Tanks, Empire Strikes Back AT-AT, River Raid jet, Indiana Jones, Mommy Kangaroo, or Bentley Bear?

I love the GTA series. But I think they're becoming so big, I eventually lose interest in them. I finished GTA3 and Vice City, but got bored with San Andreas and GTA IV. Maybe if the latter games weren't so sprawling...

What do you guys think of the Retron 5's filtering? Personally, I think turning that feature on makes the games look too "Flash-game" like. Will you be using that feature or going with the classic scanline view?

So... you have to have a Power Base converter to play SMS? Even though they mention it later in the paragraph, the Engadget article is misleading since it slips "Sega Master System" in with all the other consoles it natively supports.

Nintendo will say they are not abandoning 3D, but I see this as a first step towards not having 3D in future products. Frankly, I'm surprised Nintendo would have jumped on the 3D fad bandwagon, but I guess they had to do SOMETHING to standout against Smartphone games and the Sony Vita. I'm betting that the next major revision of the DS will not have 3D.

Seems a bit slow, but it's probably just the first level. Sure wish there was a proper T2K on Xbox though... (I do have Space Giraffe, but it's just not the same.)
