  1. Ok, well I found it. No, it was hosted on the TAT website, just hiding on my computer. Unfortunately, I tried to run it with Handy and it crashed. So... Not sure what's up there. There were a couple of others from the contest. Push Around The World, Lynx Sketch and Stardreamer. I imagine these have been updated since the contest back in 2003, but here they are anyway. 2. <Jawdrop> Wow, nice! I'd be afraid to display all my game systems like that though. I'd be in a constant panic trying to protect them from my kids!
  3. Holy cow! That's awesome!
  4. LucasArts didn't do the Lego games, that was Traveller's Tales. Man, and I kept hoping for Battlefront 3 (attempt #2) to be released one day. So, yeah, licensing. I guess we're going to see more Star Wars games than ever before. If you thought it was over-saturated during the Episode I days, you ain't seen nothing yet.
  5. Shatner vs. Pine? No contest. It's like fine wine vs. cheap beer.
  6. There are different degrees of "goofy." What you define as Shatner being goofy isn't even in the same galaxy as Pine's Jar Jar impression which is demeaning to the character. Some instances it's "bad" but it's usually due to the episode. Under the control of an alien entity usually. Shatner's Kirk is most often confident, strong, and unafraid. And really, you want to question Shatner's acting credentials? I'll put them up against Pine any day: From Wikipedia:
  7. There's just something missing in movies today when they try to "hip things up" for the masses. It's like they have no heart or soul... No longevity... They're just in it for the quick buck. They know that people are attracted to shiny objects and it doesn't matter if the fake luster wears off soon because then they'll be forgotten and off to the next shiny object anyway. I hate that Hollywood just thinks of people as cattle to bilk money out of. It says something about them, but it also says something about us that we let it happen. When people start saying that "OMG! Transformers 2 is teh GRATEST MOVIE EVAR!" you know there's something wrong. :-(
  8. Wow, Shatner wasn't acting anything like Jar Jar Kirk in that clip! Overacting != "My toungue is numbb... My tongue... blub... blub." Jar Jar Kirk - Comedy for clueless.
  9. Hmm... Trying to remember an episode of Star Trek where Shatner's Kirk acted like Jar Jar Binks... Mmm... Nope. Can't find one.
  10. Science wasn't needed because that's actually consistently plausable. People climb mountains everyday.
  11. Again, as I said, verbal comedy of "marshmelons" isn't the same as the goofy "my tongue and hands are swollen and and I'm flopping around the ship like The Mask" Do you not understand the difference?
  12. There's a difference between verbal comedy (Star Trek 4) and goofy-over-the-top-Jim-Carrey-style comedy (Star Trek (2009).)
  13. Took me awhile to realize how bad it was. At first I thought it was "okay" but I found myself saying "that's ridiculous" more and more after the 2nd and later viewings. Think about it folks. It may have been a "good" action movie, but so much of what happens is not plausable, even in the 23rd century. It's looking like the sequel will be just as ridiculous. (And don't give me the "it's just a movie" non-sense. If they want to claim this is science-fiction, it better have some damn science behind it.) Good article. Anyway, back to the Shat... Yeah, he really does look good for his age.
  14. Yep, that was cool... Except for the parts where they showed the game with fake-Kirk and fake-Spock.
  15. Another great looking project Bob!
  16. Great project! With a little tweaking it'll be perfect!
  17. Yeah, that makes sense. Of course the reverse is true, if so few people play Pitfall on Lynx, what does it really matter? (Yeah, and I get the whole forced to protect copyrights or lose them thing.) I think the solution is for Activision to be more open about allowing these small fan projects. Sadly, I think they're too big thesedays to care about their true fanbase.
  18. This made me think of fan-made TV shows like Star Trek: New Voyages... They have a Captain Kirk wearing a yellow shirt who does his best to mimic Shatner. There's also Spock, Uhura, Scotty... They even have some of the old cast come back and even call it "Star Trek!" I understand that they get away with it because they make no profit from it. Not sure of the differences between a video game and a TV show, but logically (sorry, been watching a lot of Star Trek lately) I'd think they'd be a similar set of rules. Couldn't it be called "Lynx Pitfall" or "LX Pitfall" or somesuch?
  19. Ah, yes... The old Atari Times Mortal Kombat II prank... Man, I wish that was real! The slideshow program was written for me by Mathias Domin. It's still available on the Atari Tmes website. http://www.ataritime...showarticle=314 BTW, the entire article is fake (obviously) and was ghost-written by me with authorization by Ethan Nobles to use his name. Greg Omi also said it was okay to use his name in the article. So that stuff about the pallet swapping technique... Fake. I imagine that would be pretty tough to pull off. Especially with so many characters.
  20. Hmmm... Yeah, Stardreamer... was looking forward to that one. Hope you get back to it Karri! Wondering... Is 3D necessary for it? Something like Star Raiders or Carl Forhan's Remnant might be fine for the battle sequences. Also, a classic Star Trek game would be cool... Like Stellar Track for the 2600, only with battle sequences like Star Trek: SOS.
  21. Nice. Maybe I should bring my copy of BattleSphere?
