  1. Greg, nice score! :)  I couldn't remember my high, but I thought it was pretty good. But I looked just now and turns out it's a piddly 743,988. Far away from that one million+! :P

Thanks. I've never been able to get that close ever again. I was in the zone that day... It happened before when I was playing Star Wars for the ST. I reached the last level and must have gone through that level about 15 or more times. I finally had to go somewhere so I had to quit.

Weird how people can get into that zone and NOTHING can stop them!

  2. So Atari Home Computers are pretty easy to hook up then? I've never found one.

Sure are! Even the ST can be hooked to a regular television! The 8-bitters use the same switchbox that 2600 uses.

The XEGS has RCA A/V ports on it so it's even easier and clearer than the other models.

  3. How the heck do you get a good screen cap of a Gameboy?  I've tried taking photos dozens of times with no luck, and there are a LOT of games I could submit higher scores for (Mr. Do, Tetris, et cetera).

I just used my el-cheapo web cam. I tried with the flatbed scanner, but it didn't work.

The only issue is making sure you have the proper amount of light.

  4. The new version is out. AvP is cool!

Also, I've noticed that Iron Soldier works up until you actually start a game. I don't expect polygon stuff to work for a while. And Rayman works until you have to load a save game. I bet it'd work if we could get past that.

Still, great progress on this emu!

  5. http://www.seanbaby.com/nes/egm.htm

There's a few Jag games on there as well as a couple of notorious 2600 games :)

I hadn't seen this page before, its not the same as the funny 20 worst NES games that's been out for awhile.  I guess it was in the print edition of EGM but I don't read that one.

Just another blatent attempt to pick on the Jaguar (and Atari). They only attached those other games to the list to appear credible. I could probably name 20 games for the NES that were worse than Aircars.

Oh, and here's the proof: "I still insist that if this list was perfectly accurate, the 20 Worst games really would just be 19 Atari Jaguar games and the Atari 2600's god damn E.T.."

I guess that's answers my question as to why there were no Genesis games and only 1 SNES game. Considering that there were hundreds of more games for those systems, odds are that there are also TONS of crappy games.

Even his quote is incorrect: "Above: irreverant funnyman me." More like, "Irreverant twit, who uses weak humor and Atari bashing to get people to like me."

  6. Errmm... Don't they have warrantys in Japan???

i' date=' like many others, would rather be playing the system, rather than have to pay for shipping and pay for a warranty to send the system back to the manufacturer, wait about month or so, have them tell you lies inthe meantime and do a not so great job overall, being customer service and such.[/color']

Why isn't it possible to take it back to the store you bought it from? That's generally the way it works if there is a problem within the first few days. With electronics, if it doesn't break within the first 90 days, it will probably be fine until it reaches extreme old age.

  7. "He criticized the console manufacturer for its problem-prone Playstation2 and PSX consoles. stating that frequent breakdowns were partly responsible for the systems good sales. He said he himself had to buy two sets of each because of the poor quality of the CD lens"

Errmm... Don't they have warrantys in Japan???

  8. I'll take the 5200 any day, controllers and all. They're not as bad as their reputation nor will they cause the medical problems in your hands like the CV controllers will.

Also, it seems like the CV's animation is just not up to snuff with the 5200. It's always seemed a bit jerky whereas the 5200 was always smooth. (The one exception seems to be Defender, written by Atari.)

    'nother vote for the 5200.

  9. Hmm... doing reviews on games you've been given?

Let's see... I'm a daily newspaper reporter. I write for a living. I own every Atari game console. Maybe I'd be a good one for writing reviews.... Hmmmmmm......  ;)

Yeah... I remember you! You used to write stuff for TAT! Hmmm...

  10. If you own the games, it is perfectly legal for you to have roms on your computer for "backup" purposes.

I believe that is correct only when you are able to dump the ROMs for the exact game you own. Otherwise, it's still illegal to download a ROM of someone else's ROM image.

At this point, however, I don't think Infogrames gives a rat's butt about the Jaguar ROMs. But it's likely the authors of the games might. (But if Atari owns the copyrights, it shouldn't matter what the author wants.)

  11. I never really sat down and thought about the longest credits I sat through... I think it may have been Shenmue, but there may be a Genesis or NES game in there too.

I think Lynx Lemmings has the longest (or most amount of) text in the ending of a game. It's like a book.

  12. I have never seen one of these games in person.

Wow! Really? Jeez, I remember seeing one when the game first came out. I know I've seen them a few times since, but not in recent days (aside from Videotopia.)

I THOUGHT I saw one a few years back for sale in an arcade. Maybe that was STUN Runner.

Anyway, playing I, Robot in the arcade is a much more satisfying experince than playing it on an emulator. The cabinent is so funky you just HOPE people are watching you play it!

  13. And those are some SKILLED actors

I agree with you there. John Ritter (and Joyce DeWitt) are great. I can't wait for the Three's Company telepic! (It'll be similar to the Gilligan's Island and Brady Bunch TV behind-the-scenes movie.)

Three's Company is my favorite sitcom of all-time. :)

As for there not being a game in the 2600... It would probably be DISTRACTING for the actors to have a real game on there. And the timing of the game vs. the reactions would never match. I can understand why they weren't really playing, but WHY there wasn't a cart in the slot is a bit baffling. Maybe someone forgot... Or maybe it blocked the view somehow. Who knows.
