Here's our answer, it seems that for the time being Atari2600.com is out of Cybertech S-Video cards: https://www.atari2600.com/cgi-bin/cp/cp-app...g=prod&ref=6196

Recently I've been waiting to see if Atari2600.com will be selling anymore Cybertech S-Video cards. In the meantime are there other places where one could get a 2600 A/V modded?
-
Personally I prefer the original joysticks as well since I like to recreate as close a vintage feeling as possible. That said, I recently bought a brand new joystick replica from atari2600.com that works very well.
-
Agreed - I get an excellent picture with mine(photo in 2nd post in this thread) 887551 I contacted them today, so let's see if I have better luck. In the meantime this place is going to be offering 2600 A/V mods, although I have no clue as to the quality: www.8bitdomain.com

I've been wondering about that myself since it's no longer listed anywhere on atari2600.com. I would try contacting their customer support, I know they were supposed to get a whole new supply back in January. If you find anything out let me know.

Many people on here like to use Sega Genesis pads on their 2600. Also, there's the 7800 Joypad that was only released in Europe but readily available today, but I hear that they're not very comfortable.

Too bad Ebivision's Pacman isn't available but given the danger they'd face from Namco, it makes perfect sense. But after testing Nukey Shay's hack this morning, I was totally impressed, I'm going to have to get me a copy of Pesco now. What's the verdict on this game? Is it just as playable as PacMan?

First Conviction for Console Modding
DominiRican05 replied to DominiRican05's topic in Classic Console Discussion
cool, just wanted to make sure that we would still be able to get our classic consoles modded. good job on the new colecovision power buttons by the way. -
Hey guys, I thought this might be of interest: http://xbox.ign.com/articles/631/631118p1.html I'm curious I realize what got this guy in trouble was the fact that he installed a larger hard drive with games already programmed inside, but could this affect the mods that members of this board do? I'm referring to the A/V modding of classic consoles. I'd hate for us to be adversely affected.

Wow! Looks like an awesome job, although I definitely can't afford that. Can it still play regular carts? Or only roms?
-
you're kidding, right? 877968 Nope. I'm from the NES era, so I'm not really familiar with anything before then, with the notable exception of the 2600 and a few other systems such as the Colecovision.

The ability to fly was my favorite thing about Superman in addition to being able to go back and forth from Superman to Clark Kent. I'll give it a closer look sometime this weekend. And Spiderman is still hard for me I don't ever make it too far, but it's a good thing, it keeps me playing. :-)
-
Wow never heard of the Vic-20 , time to do a little research.
-
Agreed, with just 2 stages the 2600 port of DK leaves a lot to be desired. Although the graphics were pretty solid, I wish they could've crammed in all the levels somehow, it gets redundant very quickly.
-
With Batman Begins and Fantastic Four on the way, I thought it would be fitting to talk about any superhero games that were released for the 2600. I can only think of 2: Spiderman and Superman. Were there others? I played Spiderman for the first time last summer, and was totally blown away. The graphics were simple yet sharp -- Spiderman and Green Goblin looked like themselves and they were multi-colored. The gameplay was simple yet took a lot of skill. I also liked how they worked in elements from the comic books like the webslinging and Green Goblin's bombs. Superman I've only played on an emulator and I couldn't really get the hang of it. After reading the manual on Atari Age, I think I can try it again with a fresh set of eyes. What's the verdict on that one? I hear it's popular with classic gamers. Dates back to 1979...wow!
-
Wow! Just saw this demo using Stella, although once I get a Kroc Kart I plan to play it on my VCS and get the full effect. Awesome work! Can't believe we can do so many cool things with this simple machine.
-
Wow this is impressive! I must say, I think we both have the same dream game. Can someone take this on and actually make it into a cart? This would make an awesome game! Hey Atariboy can you design my dream game? Batman

Super ColecoVision - The Best is Here
DominiRican05 replied to doubledown's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The power supply mod will be pricey. The new power supply that I use is an upgraded version of the original with all 3 DC outputs and the ground. It has more power than the original, helping to run all of the extra internal circuitry and it runs quite a bit cooler. I'm going to have the new power switch, switch the power supply on and off, versus the original's which simply switched the power to the PCB on and off. This way the power supply will not remain on once the unit is turned off, even if it is still plugged in. I'm estimating about $80.00 for the internal power supply and both new switches with installation. 866314 With this new internal power supply, would it then be safe to just leave the CV plugged in even when not in use? -
Super ColecoVision - The Best is Here
DominiRican05 replied to doubledown's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That mod is nice! I'm definitely going to have to get mine modded with the internal power supply, can't wait to get rid of that brick. Actually the 8-bit Atari computers had the chroma/luma outputs long before Commodore did. 866542 Nice mod, after having finished my A/V modification on my Coleovision today, it felt kind of cheap compared to the one you did. But I do enjoy being able to use a commodore 1702 with my Colecovision. The vidoe quality is perfect for me, I don't need any better than AUDIO and VIDEO. My modded Colecovision can be seen here: Colecovision Revival! One thing I wanted to do, and probably will do it tomorrow, is add an LED to indicate whether or not the Colecovision is ON or OFF. Maybe that's something you can add to your CV to truly make it the best and meanest CV on the block. How about a set of leds in the back that connected to the address line of the Z80 that will give you a random (well, sort of random) light show? Anyways... Enough ramblings. 866986 I've got an LED light bar mod that I have done on the ColecoVision, but it won't fit in because of the new internal power supply. The new switches that I just ordered last night are lighted though. 867064 -
Thanks man! I love finding new Atari retailers as well, especially since when I was growign up the 2600 was already ancient history. I remember re-discovering the system in the mid to late 90s when Radio Shack started selling games and accessories again. Everything was factory sealed so that spoiled me. I'm definitely getting that new CX40, I want the best for my 2600.

Must have the CX40s...they were one of my favorite things about firing up the 2600 when I was younger. It's so simple with just one button, but I did own a Sega Genesis and their pad is comfy. I was surprised to find it in the 2600 Controllers section at Atari2600.com. But CX40s for now then we can talk upgrade. :-) Now one controller that did hurt my hands was the Colecovision one, I seriously think I got a callous from that. lol 852180 I checked with myatari.com and all they have are used cx40s in like new condition @ 19.95 each 852184 4Jays has their new, unboxed ones for 17.95 each. But how are MyAtari? I've never heard of them before. Thanks for the info

I bought a pair of used joysticks from 4Jays a while back and they both have the rubber bottoms melted, so everytime I play I have black tar on my hands. So, I've decided I want to get some new joysticks. I know that 4Jays has new ones but they're unboxed. So I wanted to know has anyone bought them and how was the quality? My other choice is the CX40 replicas offerred at ATari2600.com but they're a bit pricier, has anyone tried those? Thanks!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8190223504 850334 Thanks! And I see from 4Jays site that they also have Superchargers in stock.

Thanks Mindfield, I'll definitely look into the Supercharger and the CD. Seems like a great enhancement for the 2600.
