  1. we are selling it at our store with a nice Laser Printed Gloss Label. Page 4 of the Carts Section.

    No boxed version?

    Shipping to Europe?

Nope. Just a Cart With a nice Label.

    Shipping cost to Europe?

The Shopping cart on my site will tell you if you pick your country where it says zip code.

    =)

  2. Nice. Gave it a quick go.

Just a couple of issues -

. the title screen indicates "Start" although Start doesn't do anything (fire button only)

. the end of level when the enemy dies is a bit anti-climatic. I compared the arcade and it's a bit that way too, but less noticable because the next level "blends" in more rather than having the intermediate screen.

Also, is there a "Continue" facility, or do you just always start over?

On the Title Screen Try Moving the Joystick to the Left and Right. It moves the arrow between the options allowing you to change those options by pressing fire on what ever option the Arrow is pointing to.

When you get past a Bonus Round you can Move the Arrow to the far right on the title screen and push fire to change what level to begin a new game on. you can only start on the levels AFTER the Bonus Rounds that you have completed.

Ex: if you have only completed The Bonus Round at level 5 then you will have the ability to select Level 1 or Level 6 to begin on for your next game.

  3. Version One (Made by Hitachi) is the version with the Knobs on the side and the Video Cord is Permenantly attached.

Version Two (Made by JVC) is the one with the detachable cord and the Knobs are below the screen on the front of the monitor.

The Hitachi version is actually a better monitor. They seem to last longer and they are easier to fix.

Both Function just Fine with 50Hz/Pal modes from the ST.

  4. Vanguard was never officially released for the 8-bit. There is an Atari-8bit Prototype that is around but it doesn't seem to be much different from the 5200 Version.

I played through it for quite a while and didn't see any problems so I'm assuming it was complete or at least Mostly complete.

  5. Ok some questions answered.....

    1. a name change is not nessesary since the game will be offered for free on the net as a BIN file and we will be selling the cart for just the cost of materials.

2 the game is handled in the same was that the Sega Saturn/32X version worked. after your continues are used up you can start from the level following the last Bonus Round that you completed.

    3. it's getting close. chris is just putting some spit and polish on it. =)

    4. Look for the new Video in the next post......

  6. This is My Final Reply concerning My So-Called "Fued" with Emkay.....

Emkay's PM to me that he was referring to (quite Some Time Ago) was one of many. I found him to be rather "Pushy" When he insisted on my doing sound and music using the Hardsynth Style.

I had originally Told him that I appreciated his opinion, but I preferred the Sound and Style that I was Using. He became more aggressive and rude. That is when I posted a small Excerpt from one of his PM's.

oky2000's Comment is a good example of a polite comment/criticism. I did not find it offensive and I believe that he was just wanting to voice his preference. He did not put down my work, he just simply said that he feels it could have been done differently. I respect that. =)

There are many different ways to arrange music. some of the factors involved are: Choice of instruments, Style of the rhythm of the song and even the main melody.

I have seen many examples of song arrangements that you can barely hear the original Refrain that made the song recognizable and yet I still found them to be a good tune.

I'm sure some of you have noticed that I don't go into other threads telling people that their work sucks. At least I hope I have not done that. =)

None the Less, it's all a matter of style/preference and everyone has their own (including myself, LOL). =)

  7.

    Defender......damn fine port, plays nicely...

    Mr Do.........Another good un.

PAC MAN.......UGH!.....Other PAC man arcade games were much better but Atari Pac Man was awful...

Frogger.......Nice, not my thing but did what it said.

    Donkey Kong...Excellent..

    Anteater......OK

    Arkanoid......Not bad at all

    Asteroids.....Awful..

    Berzerk.......Great fun..Good port.

    Defender......damn fine port, plays nicely...

I agree. This is a good Port.

    Mr Do.........Another good un.

    Ditto.

PAC MAN.......UGH!.....Other PAC man arcade games were much better but Atari Pac Man was awful...

I think this was a good one. But the Datasoft version was better since it had the Intermissions.

Frogger.......Nice, not my thing but did what it said.

The cartridge version left a lot to be desired, but the Sierra On-Line Disk version by John Harris was Great.

    Donkey Kong...Excellent..

I liked this version but I always thought the Sound was Lacking a bit.

    Anteater......OK

    Not Bad

    Arkanoid......Not bad at all

    Fair, But Sucks in NTSC.

    Asteroids.....Awful..

A Pitiful Excuse. It should have been easy for them to do this game. even in an 8k Cart. Looks like it was rushed.

    Berzerk.......Great fun..Good port.

Excellent version! The Voice was awesome too.

    Centipede..........

5200 Centipede is what should have been. once again, the original 8-bit cart just looked rushed.

    Millipede..........

This was just a joke. They could have done much better.

  8. I spoke to the guy this past Monday to order a game cart and was told it will be shipped out this coming Monday.

He said he was very busy preparing for a Classic Video Gaming show on the West Coast this weekend.

Hopefully we'll both receive our orders this week...

I hope you get your order soon, as for mine I hope it's on the way also since it's been about 4 weeks since I ordered.

I Apologize for the late orders as I have Been getting ready for a show and I was sick again for a short period (Nothing like last time though).

All Orders that have not been shipped are getting shipped and will go out Monday.

Sorry for the delay but I am a one man operation. <Whew!>

I'm also moving a little slower because of some recent changes with my diabetes.

Hang in there guys. they're on the way!

    =)

  9. Using Some Ideas I got From a Discussion with Analmux, I Made Some Changes to this song and Cleaned it up a bit.

So I figured Why not Upload it. =)

I worked Specifically on the Main Synth Melody Line. I think it's sounds a bit smoother now.

Thanks Analmux for the Help. =)

Awesome! Your musical talent is quite evident here. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Since I know little about this type of music generation on the Atari, can you please tell me how did you create this song? (i.e. on a MIDI keyboard)

    Hayden

Well, I didn't write it. I used Raster Music Tracker With My Midi Keyboard and Played in the notes. =)

  10. Maybe another suggestion for kjmann:

Why not use RMT-gen.E type of bass instead of C? These give a deeper sounding.

OK, they're a bit unstable, but I can try helping you with finding the way to MAKE them stable (poly reset trick!).

    ...Of course if desired.

I am using Gen E. I hardly every use Gen C as it is almost always out of tune. This song has a lot of Range to it so it's bound to suffer some issues with tuning. But I've got it as tuned as it's every going to get. I think it sounds pretty good and I am proud of the work i did on it. In any case, thanks for the suggestion Analmux. I always appreciate your input. =)
