Everything is done with the Exception of a few finishing touches. =) Space Harrier Video on YouTube
-
Thanks. Just tried it, works great. It came with a bunch of software...do you know what "Alpha Impersonator Disk" does? It says cartridge saver, cartridge converter, and menumaker on disk but I haven't figured out how to use it. came with atari 800xl which has switch in back with 3 positions. Think it's for 400/800,800xl,and omniview xe. As has a another cable coming out of back of 800xl which looks to be for printer connection. not bad all for $27!!! Nice Deal. =) Yes, The Switch could be a RamRod OS switcher.

A video of SPACE HARRIER C64 U.S.A. version
Kjmann replied to José Pereira's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
To set the record straight. Space Harrier XE runs on a stock 64K XL/XE system and runs off of a 1024k Cartridge. Also Sheddy has pretty much done this game in his spare time and that's why it has taken so long. =) -
Yes! you can use the 1050 Power Supply on the Rana 1000. In Fact, a lot of Rana 1000's came with an Atari 1050 power supply with a sticker on top of the power brick covering the Atari logo.

Using Some Ideas I got From a Discussion with Analmux, I Made Some Changes to this song and Cleaned it up a bit. So I figured Why not Upload it. =) I worked Specifically on the Main Synth Melody Line. I think it's sounds a bit smoother now. Thanks Analmux for the Help. =) -
Atari 400 Installation instructions For Kjmann's S-Video Upgrade
Kjmann replied to Kjmann's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Here are Pictures of the installation and the side of the 400 where I mounted the jacks. As you can see the board is very tiny and can go almost anywhere inside the case.... I put the jacks here and simply moved the Capacitor that was inside the case to make room... Here is a picture of the Standard S-Video Kit. the 400 version come with 4 extra resistors and a panel mount RCA jack. This Solution is a bit more complicated than it really needs to be. Composite Video isn't that great to begin with and the IC's they are using are now obsolete. the new version of the IC's are $2.50 Each. also the board would have to be bigger and more components would have to be used making the kit more expensive for something that would improve the composite video by only a very small degree. With the Chroma intensity Switch that my kit has the color bleed is almost non-existent. -

Atari 400 Installation instructions For Kjmann's S-Video Upgrade
Kjmann replied to Kjmann's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I'm Working on making some more pics of the final installation and the board. The board can go almost anywhere inside the case. the S-Video Board is only 3/4" x 1/2". There is not much difference between leaving in or taking out the RF modulator, although it will not function after installing the board. the S-Video Jack is Wired to the board and I use the RF Modulator output jack as the audio output. The board is S-Video only. The audio is simply a direct connection from a certain spot on the Main Motherboard to the Audio out jack. This bypasses a multitude of issues in the sound output Especially the Low Volume issue. To obtain composite out, you simply need an S-Video to Composite adapter (This is one of the reasons for the Chroma Strength switch). Radio shack and other Electronics sources have them. I include one with every XL system that I sell. Thanks. I'm glad i could offer something that helps everyone out. =) Link to the S-Video Instructions. -

Yep. Video was Awesome! The Retrokidz Board is a different way of doing it. the Retrokidz Board is much more complicated than it needs to be. in fact, that is why I did my board this way. It's simple and gives the same great result. =) -

Site Updated. There is now an option for order the 400 version of the kit that comes with the required resistors and RCA audio jack. $5.00 Extra charge.

I'll Take Some more Photos this next week of the final installation and jack locations. I could offer the atari 400 Resistors (and audio Jack) for an extra charge. I'll have to figure that out. Yes it is the same board that goes into the XL/XE.

Here they are!!! Atari 400 S-Video installation Instructions for Kjmann's S-Video Upgrade Board. Unfortunately the 400 Required the installation of 4 extra resistors on the main motherboard. This shows where to put them and what values they need to be. as well as where to install the leads from the S-Video Board itself. 400 Instructions.Zip

I guess I am dangerous with a soldering iron afer all

Jon is right on this one. my old 2.0 and 3.0 boards were not originally made for the 1200XL although I figured they should have worked, The 1200XL has such a Screwed up video circuit to begin with it required some changes to my design. Jon is also right that one of the biggest problems with the 1200XL is the Chroma signal. The new 4.0 boards were made with the 1200XL in mind as well as the 800XL,600XL,XE's and so on. there is now a selection jumper on the 4.0 boards for different installations 1200 or 800,600,etc. -
I had a friend that bought one of my S-Video kits for his 400 and said he would send me the photos of the installation. so far, no photos. I'm looking to buy a 400 that works (Keyboard working is not a big deal) so I can do the installation and take the photos needed for the S-video installation instructions. i'll pay shipping and for the 400 if it's cheap enough. No Power Supply Needed. Just the Console.

XL: An improvement over the 400 and 800?
Kjmann replied to Dr. Van Thorp's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I Prefer the XL Line Myself. I liked the Look for the system, the cartridge port on TOP of the system and the PBI port. The XL's were also built better than the XE line. I've never had an XE that could handle a lot of soldering for upgrades and etc. and with most of the chips being soldered in this was a real big problem. The 800 was Great but it was a monster and it's limit on OS accessible ram was a bummer. The 3/4 player joystick ports were not that big of a deal in my opinion. The XL's Were built Fairly Sturdy, More Compact and had the ability for extra ram VIA the PBI port. the Freddie's Antic Access of the higher 64k was not that big of a deal since i don't see a lot of people using it. The XE Freddie Antic access suffered from the same thing most computers of the time did. The predecessor(XL series) did not have it. There were a lot of XL's out there so software companies didn't write things for the Freddie antic access because they wanted to reach a larger audience. Even Atari themselves hardly used the Freddie. The XL suffered fro one major downfall and that was the video output. it sucked and lacked the Chroma line. I don't Believe compatibility was a huge problem for the 600/800XL since most problem programs ran fine with a translator. the few that didn't run were later re-released with XL compatible versions. I have no love at all for the XE line. I think they were just a cheap, poorly made XL. I have a definite respect and love for the 800 because it was the first, but overall in my opinion the XL Series was the best of the 8-bits. =) -
That's Pretty Cool MG. What about Putting a Different 16k (27128 with one rom image) Eprom into the basic Socket? That way if you wanted to use the XL os you just hold down Option but if you want to use a custom 16k Eprom (EX: Omnimon), you just don't hold down option and it defaults to that one instead.

I feel sorry for Atari 8-bit vendors on Ebay
Kjmann replied to qix_maniac's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
This is Exactly the reason that I closed my Ebay Store and Wrote My own Website. Ebay is a Rip off! -
Did it make to the Post Office or did you have some fried pistons for dinner last night ?? All Orders Were Shipped. =)

I also Agree with Allan. you should split it all up into separate auctions. you will make better money that way. =)

We Don't have any plans to make a cart version until an NTSC Fix Can be Done. =)
