  1. i dont know, but it had better have online components
  2. does anyone know where you can find the FMVs of the CDi Zelda games, ive seen one of the games, and boy are they horrid.
  3. well, i can see a clerk that makes minimum wage not giving a dam and trying to avoid an arguement with a 13 year old brat and his jerkwad parent over why the store wont take the disk for tradein.
  4. i loved Zelda II as well, i remember agonzing over all the Delays Nintendo had with this game. When i played it i was hooked, and i liked the RPG elements quite a lot with this game, and despite that, the sword play was also the most engaging of the 2D games. I was actually let down a bit when i read that Link to the Past was going to be 2D again. The game did turn out quite good though, and it was the last Zelda game ive completed. Ive really tried to play the N64 zelda games, but they are too tedious, and i get lost too easily in 3D games
  5. im going to guess its a wondermega/X'Eye. The wider cart slot would allow you to play imports without modding the carts
  6. one good thing about KMart here is that a few locations are going out of business, so at the moment, theyre video games are 40% off. Obviously there isnt much left of note, but there are a couple of good deals, and soon theyll be closed of course, i hate walmart with a passion, no company should be as big as they are and treat the employees that got them where they are so poorly.
  7. Sega normally put the names on all of their systems, even the mythical Sega Neptune mock up had the name on it.
  8. oh, btw, you can use the same RF box from the NES or Genesis model 1 if you have either one laying around. The other solution is if you have a standard AV cable, and one of the AV/RF adapters they sell at the AtariAge Store, you can hook your system directly to you TV without the need of an RF adapter. The SMS is capable of AV though, and if you plan on spending money, id try to find one of those cables, i believe its the same AV cable the commadore 64 used (as well as the Genesis 1 and Neo Geo AES)
  9. My friend imported a GBA player for cube (note: import players required a modded Cube, since the player requires a boot disk) and i have to say that i am very impressed. There are several display options that are saved within the machine, so one does not need to readjust their preferences every time they wish to play. Among the display options are full screen and letterbox screen. With full screen, the GBA playfield takes the entire width of the TV, and there are small letterbox borders on the top and bottom, in this mode the graphics are a tad less smooth, and in some games the animation is a tiny bit choppier, but the graphics are very nice, and its actually refreshing to play game with large sprites on your television. If you choose to play in letterbox mode, you have 20 different backgrounds to choose from. The first few, are just GBA color borders, and there are a few other uninspired choices. There isnt an edit mode like there was with the Super GameBoy for SNES years ago. Frankly, I prefer playing games in full screen mode, so this option isnt that important to me. There is also an option for screen refresh rate. Some games use graphic tricks on the GBA hardware that look great on an LCD, but flicker like crazy on a Television. There are three different options available, but since i do not know japanese, i couldnt tell you exactly what they are. What i do know is that games like Phantasy Star Collection, EReader NES games, and the text portions of Final Fight One, have excessive flicker problems, unless this option is toggled. Pressing the Z button brings up the list of options (there is also a controller setting option, and a game reset option to use here) As ive said before, all the games ive played look great. A few games need adjustments, but they work fine after that. This also holds true for GB Color and classic GB games. Im not sure how Nintendo did it, but the color enhancements for classic GB games are very well done. Im not sure if they went through and assigned colors to every GB game or not, but the only old game that had some color trouble was Dr. Mario. The viruses were black, grey, and white, but the capsules were black, white, and blue. Sadly, there is no color adjustment option like there was with the Super Game Boy. The controllers are a big issue for some people, and ill have to admit that the cube controller is not a great choice for gameboy advance games. The biggest problem is layout. While A and B and start are pretty easy to imagine, the select button is layed out to the X button on the cube controlller by default. While playing Metroid II, this was a bit annoying when switching to missles for example. The other gripe is the Cube Controller's D Pad. Its way to small, and it feels a little off in terms of timing. I was trying to play Mr Driller, and it just wasnt moving quick enough for me. Also the analog triggers are not the best choice for quick button presses as they are with the GBA. The other huge gripe is the sound quality. Most GBA games are in Mono, and on a GBA, its not a huge deal, but on a nice television, its very noticeable. However, future releases may have stereo options for GBA players, or headphone users. Metroid Fusion is one of these mentioned games. Its an awesome game to play on a GBA player. But games like Advance Wars have very poor sound quality in mono, and it does detract from the game a bit. All in All, im very impressed with the unit, and ill be picking one up as soon as they come stateside. one of the shocking discoveries i had playing it was that Midway arcade classics was now a lot more playable than it was on the small screen of the GBA. The larger screen of the TV made a big difference in gameplay (still not a perfect game by a long shot, but its much improved). I cant wait to attach one to my cube in the next few months
  10. http://www.atani-software.net/segabase/ this is where ive got the most useful info on sega systems. Its an excellent site, but there are a few missing facts here and there. Ive been a big Sega Fan since the days of the Master System, although i didnt own one myself until around 5 years ago when i discovered eBay I have around 70 games, but i doubt ill ever complete the collection after i consider all the imports floating around.
  11. thanks, that helps quite a bit, but i think a hardware capsule would be a nice little addition
  12. I understand that AA is a top notch site, and has required an awful lot of work to piece together over time. My only question is why there isnt any section on the Arcadia SuperCharger, even if only a brief mention in the 2600 Hardware section. I briefly was looking for pics and didnt come up with anything super nice shots of the product, its box, or even game screen shots. Again, im not pounding my fist on the table demanding it be added, i only want to mention it so that it is considered, if youre going to list foriegn clones of the VCS and 3rd Party Joysticks, why not 3rd party add-ons? dont hurt me if there is a section i missed
  13. The SMS was dead in the US when Sonic was released. It was never a really popular system to begin with, although it was much more popular in Europe and especially Brazil. Im guessing it had a good following down under?
  14. XBox owners had better pick up Agent Under Fire before it gets pulled off the shelf
  15. if the 2600 on a chip ever comes to fruition, the possibilities are endless
  16. well, i dont buy too many games in general, but if a company is going to be jerks about emulation and the availibility of ROMS, they should at least make a commercial version of their games available. I do wish Nintendo would make a GameCube compilation of old games, rather than release them one at a time on the GBA. The EReader is forty dolllars US (includes one game), so its not that bad of a deal IMO (plus if you play animal crossing, its a great add on), and the other projects for the ereader like Mario Party E look to be pretty cool.
  17. the first revisions of the SMS had the snail game (it boots to an instruction guide, directing you to insert a cart, you press a button combination to get the snail maze game). The high end set included a separete cart with Hang-On/Safari Hunt. Later on, the cart was replaced with Hang-On/Safari Hunt built into the system. The Sega Master System II, had Alex Kidd in Miracle World built in
  18. while you post some bad examples, i think super monkey ball is one of the best games of this generation becuase of its mini games. of course the simplistic yet challenging gameplay is the main reason i like it, Monkey Fight, monkey billiards etc, are a blast to play with other people.
  19. if youre looking for activision roms, maybe this guy can help you
  20. card fighters clash is a very good addicting little game and sonic is also the best handheld sonic game out there (i havent played SA2 though)
  21. bah, pick up gunstar heroes for the genesis
  22. independant or not, those results are very believable most developers = suck
  23. gawd, i love the young ones
