  1. face it, video game plots suck across the board

american plots tend to be uber-macho which as we all know is just repressed homosexuality. The only RPG story that made sense from beginning to end and grabbed me was Phantasy Star II. In terms of gameplay, it was extremely dull, but the dungeons were incredibly complex mazes that required you to map them out (and even with graph paper, it was easy to get lost), and the story line didn't involve any lame ass glowing balls of light or any weird hybrid of eastern and western gods meddling with mortals and taking mythical forms set on destroying the world for whatever cloudy reason, it was sci-fi through and through, and the ending was simply shocking. Its where my avatar and user sig comes from. But it was under the radar in 1989 when it was released, and it doesnt feature the eye candy and hold-your-hand unchallenge that today's console RPGs have

  2. link

i really dont want to part with it, but im in too much debt right now. as i mentioned in the auction, there are some little quirks with it, but i think it can be fixed by somebody who knows what they are doing. I had the unit at the cinciclassic if anybody saw me there. i hope it gets a good new home

  3. the games that reward you the most for finding rare stuff sadly cannot be "completed". im talking about Phantasy Star Online. I put in 200 hours, and didnt even dent the rare items list.

I wouldve liked to do everything in Final Fantasy X, but Blitzball pissed me off, and some of those minigames were just too annoying.

  4. i think there are three good classifications. i forget where i read them

Joystick era (everything up until 1984)

Joypad era (8 and 16 bit machines)

Analog era (Sega Saturn and beyond)

pretty easy to remember, i think terms like vintage, classic, retro etc. can all be interchanged
