yet another video game podcast thread http://www.nowyoureplayingwith.com/ The topic of episode 1 is stories from the trenches of video game store clerkdom. Most video game players and collectors contemplate if not flat out dream about working in a video game store. But even a dream job is still a job. You have to put up with a lot of crap from every angle while earning little respect. So is that sealed copy of Persona 1 worth it? Listen and decide for yourself. language NSFW The audio is a bit on the quiet side, we are working on remixing the volume levels. In the meantime, I posted a louder version on youtube

Sega SG 1000/ US SMS Compatability
chrisbid replied to VicViper's topic in Classic Console Discussion
ive been seeing more mark iii and sg 1000 version 2 systems on ebay for more reasonable prices. i picked up a loose mark iii a couple of months ago for 50 bucks (30 bucks shipping). thats really the way to go, unless you go out and find a dina 2-in-1. -
these are starting to move over the clearance racks. i picked up an xxl atari and pitfall shirt today for 7 dollars each.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10lhsXbWqx4 I discovered this back in the day, but never could figure out how to reproduce it every time. This video shows what happens when the cheat is enabled. I have found nothing on the internet about this cheat. Anyone else come across this mode in the underrated Konami classic?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5qOSgYU4LU goto 4:10, some of tod/bob/rob keynote of course, they only shot footage of a question about ET.... meh

oh, the other big news is bob smith is working on a new 2600 title. he kept details close to the vest, but the game is more or less finished and he is now adding features and fine tuning it. dragonfire is one of my all time favorites, i hope this game will get a general release on a cart

tod spent a sizable amount of time defending vcs pac man. i think he felt the internet was going to be there hating on his work. nobody really gave him a hard time about it though, and hopefully he will do more of these panels in the future. the thing is, vcs pac man is iconic. the sound effects are still used today in tv, commercials, etc as generic video game sound effects. the zinger for me, was the explanation that he sacrificed a lot to make pac man 2 player. ms pac and jr pac are one player.

the show was fantastic. overall, i had more fun at this years PRGE than at last years CGE. i imagine the aftershow stuff is much better in vegas than in portland, but as a nondrinker that isnt much of a factor for me. with all the of the presentations (the 2 atari keynotes were fantastic, i also enjoyed the NWC/Tetris documentary keynote), and the tournaments, i really didnt have a lot of time to shop and play games. i did go crazy during the first hour and picked up 10 of my final 18 Saturn games needed to complete my collection, so on that front the show was an amazing success. thanks to all the organizers, i hope to make it back in the future. 2013 maybe?

there were no 5 screw grey zelda carts. i havent checked lately, but i believe the rarer grey carts are less valuable than the gold carts

super famicoms are very inexpensive, so if you have the room for one in your collection, then why not? i also prefer the multi-colored buttons on the super fami controller over the pink/purple buttons on the snes

What to do with off-brand PS1 controllers?
chrisbid replied to SlowCoder's topic in Classic Console Discussion
christmas is coming soon, you could always put them on a video game themed xmas tree -
the 5 screw carts are more "rare", but value wise few people notice or care about the difference its one of the reasons why i like to collect five screw nes carts

youre right, there is lag.

The plan right now is that there will not be -- the road trip that we put together last year was something special for our tenth anniversary and truthfully took a TON of time and effort to put together. If there seems to be a ton of demand for it, we'll look into it again, but as of this moment, there are no plans to even explore it this year. thats cool, i can now plan accordingly

Yes -- last FULL weekend in March. In fact, that is the same dates until like 2016. If I ever get more than 10 minutes of free time, the announcement will be up, as well as the start of the announcements for the 2012 show! It's looking like it's going to be a great one already -- display-wise, we've already lined up even more people who will be filling up even more space than last year! will there be another arcade road trip on friday?

You should try the original Tecmo Bowl for the NES.
