Can anyone think of any examples of on-screen rewards like these for 2600 games? The only thing that comes to mind is the tiny trophy you get in trick shot.

the disc is slightly better, but the side buttons and keypad buttons are worse

Something that could bring down Gamestop
chrisbid replied to Rev's topic in Classic Console Discussion
there will always be thrift stores, flea markets, craigslist and ebay... not to mention the growing number of retro gaming shows springing up around the country. but pawnshop laws will not bring down gamestop. pawnshop laws are local and state based and vary widely. by not offering cash, gamestop can exempt themselves from many pawn shop laws. if you really want the company to go down, pray for a hike in interest rates. gs got to where they are by borrowing a crapload of money to buy out competitors. if the interest goes up on that debt, they are toast. -
i have no clue. nintendo fans will pay ridiculous prices for rare nes games. but how much would they pay for a virtual boy prototype is beyond me. and is it a legit proto or a dump? a prototype with a label doesnt feel right.

catering to a dying market, brilliant! -
i doubt any major changes are made for virtual console releases. those shots are probably from a fan retranslation.

s-video is far better than rf, and is a much cheaper alternative to RGB. as for brands, the only cables i have owned were generic. on the internet most auctions and sites do not list brand, so it will be difficult to find out the differnces.

Opinions of the NES Advantage controller?
chrisbid replied to SlowCoder's topic in Classic Console Discussion
i loved it in the day. i could set it in my lap and use my right forefinger and middle finger for the A and B buttons, while my thumb would grasp it underneath. a lot of difficult NES games are 10x easier with turbo, so it can be an improvement for certain games. in the day the joystick was great, but nowadays with clicky style micro switches, it feels a bit cheap. -
Yep, supposedly too many parents mailed in complaining that the show was making there kids want to eat cookies and become fat and unhealthy. So they decided that the cookie monster had a stroke because of eating to many cookies so now he eats veggies and only has cookies every once in a while in moderation. Family guy even made fun of this. this is also why they put warning labels on the sesame street 'old school' dvds. but these discs will be the only exposure to sesame street my daughter will have. no elmo, invisible snuffy, and cookie monster and colbert covered this brilliantly http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/174545/june-19-2008/cookie-monster

i have one and it is gawd awful the refresh rate is atrocious, so any action games are virtually impossible to play. graphically, it didnt seem any better than a black & white game boy, but im sure somebody with tech specs memorized can clarify/correct me on that. non-action games like lights out, wheel of fortune, jeopardy, quiz wiz etc are perfectly fine to play, but the system is oversized and the screen is hard to see (better than a bw game boy, but that isnt saying much) so there are better platforms to play these types of games.

Extra sound channels and FC-NES adapters
chrisbid replied to Reaperman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
And hope the disk drive rubber band is okay. Tho replacing those shouldnt be much of a hassle. But theyre way too overpriced, for a simple rubber band. My Sharp Twin Famicom has given me disk read error maybe twice so far. But havent been using it that often either. Also I assume there is no significant difference between the Cartridge and Disk version of Akumajo Densetsu(CVIII)? i picked up a band from tototek for 6 dollars. expensive for a rubber band, but hardly unreasonable for a part. -

if you are willing to spend the money on cvIII for the fds, then you may as well go the extra mile and pick up a fds system or twin famicom system. -
40,000 dollars for a rare variation of a game that normally sells for 99 cents meh

i havent played willow, but it would be awfully tough for a game to surpass crystalis. crystalis is original zelda on speed

nintendo saw how successful the PSP was and adopted its strategy. high price point, heavy technology focus, high priced games, good quality console ports, movies, it has it all... and it will flounder just like the PSP.
