  1. I recently started coming back to AtariAge after a long absence... and this looks like a lot of fun. If you have any plans of doing any more CIB copies in the future, I'd be highly interested in obtaining one. Thanks!
  2. Hopefully not for another month! I'm flat broke now esp with Christmas around the corner Same here! I was VERY happy to be able to pre-order "Boulder Dash," but my bank account's going to need a little time to recover before I can order another "new" boxed game!
  3. Whew! I just put in my order. I'll be happy with any number... but, if #82 is available, that would be extra-special. I'm not picky, though... I'll just be thrilled to finally get to add "Boulder Dash" to my collection. MANY thanks to everyone involved with making this a reality!
  4. I was fortunate enough to get one of the earlier runs (cart-only), and I will be very interested in getting a complete copy with box and manual!
  5. I'm thrilled to hear that "Boulder Dash" will finally be seeing a release. I know that this isn't a reserve list, but I wanted to express my support, and I'll be more than happy to shell out $75 for this one when the time comes. Back in the mid-to-late 1980s, "Boulder Dash" was a big hit in my household; both my mom and I played it incessantly on our old Apple IIe, and often would brag to each other about which levels we'd reached. She passed away back in 2007, so this game strikes a particularly sentimental chord with me. To finally be able to obtain a copy of the game on my favourite home video platform would be a really big deal... so I'm hoping I don't miss the boat when the game becomes available for preordering. Thank you very much for all the hard work that's gone into this!
  6. I would have bought the brand-new Swordquest Waterworld and Track + Field at Kay-Bee Toys for $12.95 each. I still kick myself every time that I remember, when they got down to their last Waterworld, I didn't buy it because there was a dent on the side of the box and I just knew they would get more of them in stock. What a schmuck. Badger
  7. Oooo... since I'm close - how much was it? 835262[/snapback] I saw it there last week; it is indeed very nice, but to my knowledge it is not for sale. (I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure on this one.) A friend of mine who works there is a fellow video game collector with some nice 2600 pieces in his own collection; if you're ever in there, ask for Joel. Badger
  8. My two major most wanted "white whales" have been a complete Swordquest Waterworld and the box for Track + Field. I still love to kick my own arse every time I remember that I had the chance to pick them up at Kay-Bee Toys in the mid-to-late 1980s for $12.95, brand new. Over the years, I have won three different "Track + Field" auctions on eBay: 1. "Track + Field" complete, 3-4 years ago, for a little over $80. I sent my money and never received a thing. 2. "Track + Field" with controller and manual, 2.5-3.5 years ago, about $35-45. Different seller, obviously. I received the cart and controller. The seller didn't seem like a scammer and said he thought he'd sent the manual, but he was never able to find it. 3. "Track + Field" controller and manual only, last year. About $15-$20, I think. I got exactly what I paid for in that case. I still want the box for it, very badly. Arrrrrgh. ======= Swordquest Waterworld has also been a real beast for me. Over the years, I've had a series of auctioning mishaps with this one as well. - In one case, I used "send seller a question" on eBay to see if she would accept a series of hefty payments for a complete Waterworld, since I wouldn't be able to shell out the enormous amount I was willing to bid all in one chunk. I told her explicitly to make sure to send her response to one of my Hotmail accounts, since I was going to be away from my regular eBay-registered address until after the auction had ended. Of course, she completely ignored that detail and only hit "reply" and sent her response to the eBay-registered address, telling me she'd gladly accept a series of payments, but I didn't see her response until after the auction, and thus someone else got it for a lot less than I would have paid her for it. - I've sat at my keyboard waiting for a 2:00-3:00 AM auction ending, only to pass out within 10 minutes of the auction end and wake up to find someone else won the auction for a relative "steal." - I've put an auction on my watch list and then found out that the auction was closed early because someone made a behind-the-scenes offer to the seller of about $100 less than I would have bid, and he just had to take the offer because "money talks." Arrrrrrrrrgh. Of course, I can't feel too badly about things, since I managed to score a complete "Quadrun" in the mid-90s from an Internet seller for $35, I bought a complete "Halloween" in the mid-80s from a mail order dealer for $16-$17, and I was one of the original people in 1983 who bought "Crazy Climber" new from the Atari Club for about $33. Whew. So, overall, I've been really fortunate. But, I do want my two white whales. Very, very badly. Badger
  9. Wow... Goodwill has become an auction site? I still remember back when they sold things cheaply/reasonably to help the unfortunate... Thanks for the info, though! Badger
  10. Yep. 1) Go to the 2600 area of the site (click "2600" at the top of the screen). 2) Pick the desired rarity in the "Rarity" drop-down list. Do not fill out any other fields. 3) Click "Begin Search." Voila. Badger
  11. I'd recommend buying the whole batch for $50. Gopher's a great game, plus you'd be getting Ghostbusters, which isn't the easiest cart to come by, and a bunch more (which you may or may not already have). Yeah, I'd definitely recommend going for the whole thing. I'd say it's worth it. Badger
  12. Hi... I'm looking for a complete-in-box copy of the "Entity" reproduction that came out a while back. If anyone has one they'd like to part with, please PM me with the details. Thanks very much, Badger
  13. In my opinion, you got a spectacular deal. Badger
  14. I still haven't received mine either, and I am in the USA as well. Still waiting. Does Packrat usually take this long? I had been considering making a pretty significant order for some of their other boxed games in the future. Thanks, Badger
  15. You can get full size versions of these as complete sets for between $20 and $30 on Ebay. They aren't worth anything. Actually, the "full-size" series featured a different storyline, with a newer Atari Force team, based at a point in the future after the original Atari Force stories, with a number of relations and tie-ins to the original storylines and characters. The original five-comic series' issues were packed in the cartridge boxes of Defender, Berzerk, Star Raiders, Phoenix, and Galaxian. The full-size, retail DC comics ran for 20 issues, and while I really did enjoy the series (a number of the storylines were quite good), the ending sucked (no real resolution, kind of a cop-out). Then, they released a "Special," but I don't remember it tying things up very well, either. Urrrrgh. I just did some quick searching and found a link that appears to have a pretty comprehensive Atari Force knowledge base. I haven't looked at a lot of the information there yet, but it might be a fun/informative read: http://fly.hiwaay.net/~lkseitz/comics/Atar...ce/frames.shtml Enjoy, Badger
  16. This looks similar but not identical to some 3x5 cube storage units I recently bought at Target. Mine have a white finish and I think they're priced around $25, and I'm quite sure they have the same measurements per cube. I haven't put my collection into them yet (I'm moving to a new apartment with my fiancee right now), but I have tried putting Atari carts in and for standard-sized carts, I can get 7 in each cube. So, the 5x5 unit will provide space for 175 standard carts, or for my 3x5 units, 105 standard carts. The extra space to the side of the carts makes them easier to access and pull out of their "stack." Not bad. The main problem that I have with them, at least in the units I've bought, is that they're too deep, so if you move your cartridges all the way to the back, they'll really seem like they're back in a cave without much access to light. I'm planning on buying some foam-board and posterboard and devising a way to make a removable fake "wall" in each cube so that they are more shallow and usable for this purpose. I bought six of them (I got them on sale for around $20 a few weeks back), but due to frustrating issues during the construction of one of them, I now have five of them plus one empty white wooden box sans inside cube chambers, which I will likely use for unusual controllers, Supercharger, Playaround/Mystique leatherette holders, etc. With room for 525 "normal" carts, I should still have enough room to last me a while. Once they are set up and ready to go, I think they'll look great. Have fun! Badger
  17. I have a sealed Obelix in my collection, but eventually I'm sure that I'll open it. In honesty, I just haven't gotten around to it. The box is a little crushed in one corner and it really would look better without the shrinkwrap anyway. I think (hope) it is the NTSC version. Badger
  18. Nope. Mine was one of the boxed, released copies sold at one of the conventions a few years back - back when I was not quite "in the know" and wasn't aware that someone was making cool boxed reproductions like Combat 2. When I found out about it (too late to get them during the original run), I was soooooooo torqued off. Then, last year, I saw one of 'em on eBay... and I knew I was going to be losing a good chunk of money soon after. Woof. Badger
  19. At $85, I think you got a fine deal... I paid $103.50 (+ shipping and insurance) for mine, last April. Ironically, I never got around to playing it until November/December of last year, and while it wasn't as amazing as I thought it was going to be, a friend of mine and I did have some fun with it for a half-hour or so. As far as prototype reproductions go, I'm still on the lookout for Elevator Action and The Entity... but having Combat II meant more to me than those two combined. Good job! Badger
  20. I'm hoping to snag it... but I'll have to place my order on December 31st, since that's my next payday. As for what I'm going to order... That depends on if any of my loved ones ordered any of my gifts from AtariAge! Badger
  21. Um... The forum program added the period at the end of that sentence, so the link wouldn't work correctly. The working link is: http://www.djbadger.com/badgerjournal033.htm Thanks again to everyone! Badger
  22. UPDATE: Well, in case anyone was wondering, I asked Lanna to marry me, and she said yes! However, I feel really badly, because I actually asked her back on December 5th, and things have been amazingly busy and I just hadn't gotten around to reporting it until now. If you want a long, drawn-out description of what happened, feel free to check out my latest journal entry at http://www.djbadger.com/badgerjournal033.htm. There's also a capture of the Donkey Kong "will you marry me lanna?" screen there. I have to give massive "props" to Paul Slocum for doing his magic with the Donkey Kong programming, and to Al at AtariAge for putting it on a cart and sending it out. Amazing work, gentlemen... and extremely fast as well. Everything was done in plenty of time for the actual proposal. (By the way, Paul and Al, I have mentioned you both, as well as your websites, in the journal entry. If you'd like for me to take out the acknowledgements for any reason, please let me know, but I did so on the presumption that it wouldn't be a problem.) So, thanks very much to Paul, Al, and everyone else who offered assistance and/or support for this life-changing event. Merry Christmas (or your respective arbitrary December holidays of choice) to everyone! Badger
  23. I agree with Cassidy about Track + Field in the box. I still remember being able to obtain it for $13.00 at Kay-Bee Toys in the mid-1980s (along with Swordquest: Waterworld, which I also could have had for $13.00). I passed them up at the time because they both seemed too pricey. Yes, that's right. Too pricey. When they got down to the last Waterworld, I considered buying it, then noticed the box had a DENT in the side, and thus I decided that I would wait for the next shipment. I kick myself regularly for that decision. I've been really lucky in a number of cases: Complete Quadrun, Crazy Climber, Q*Bert's Qubes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Chase the Chuckwagon, etc., etc., but the two that have become my "white whales" have been Track + Field and Swordquest: Waterworld. I have numerous eBay horror stories regarding both of these titles. I even "won" an auction for a boxed Track + Field a few years back, only to send the guy about $80.00 and receive nothing but excuses. Then, he kind of disappeared. Crap. I now have the cartridge and special controller, and I have the manual on the way... but I need that box. And, now, I've seen it going for insanely high on eBay - ridiculously high for that game, in my opinion. A complete Waterworld, alas, has evaded me a number of times for a variety of reasons (i.e., when an eBay seller recently decided to end his auction early because someone offered him $100 less than I had been willing to bid (I was waiting for the end)... or the time that I was all geared up to win an auction for it at 2:00 AM and I fell asleep minutes before the end, only to wake up and find that someone else had won the auction for soooo much less than I would have paid...) Mangia is another one that has been mentioned earlier in this thread that I've wanted for an extremely long time, but I gave up hope on that one years ago because I've never seen it anywhere, and don't think I'll ever find a complete one. Demolition Herby ranks up there, too, along with a lot of the Tigervision games. (I have a complete King Kong, Miner 2049er, Threshold, and Espial... I would love River Patrol, obviously, but I'd go crazy over a boxed Jawbreaker or Miner 2049er pt. 2.) Oh, and that boxed reproduction of 20th Century Fox's The Entity is irritating me, too, since I don't know how that one slipped by me. That and a complete Bank Heist will complete my 20th Century Fox collection. I'm going to stop typing before I become any more agitated. Thanks, Badger
