  1. I'm quite surprised how well Ridge Racer plays on my SonyEricsson K800i, though it's not 'classic' in the strict sense.

British gamers will be happy to know that the cellphone version of Chucky Egg is perfect! While Jet Set Willy has 'enhanced' graphics but is still unfairly hard to the point of being unplayable, just like the original then. :)

  2. so still no answer as to 'what sort of game it is' ?

Trust me .... it's for your own good. :)

I think Spider Monster is the same game as Spider Kong, A.K.A. Pac-Kong, but I could be wrong.

If so it's a rather dodgy quality platformer in the vein of Donkey Kong but with weeeird flickery sprites.

Try it on an emulator and you'll see (look under the above aliases and you should find it, else let me know and I'll hunt it down or send you a dump of my cart).

Incidentally, it's rare in PAL form, too... not as rare as in NTSC flavour, but you don't see many of those K-TelVision games around.....

    Nice ingame music though ;)

I used to think that the bad flicker was to make the game more challenging :D

  3. What's the CPU speed?  I see that it has two ARM processors, but it doesn't mention the MHz for either.  When it comes to emulation, this can be important.  The Dreamcast at 200MHz just doesn't quite have the oomph to emulate SNES.  (I suppose if someone wrote an emulator specifically for the GPX2, they could split the sound emulation off into the other CPU, which might be enough to make a difference.)

Processorspeed 200 Mhz x2 (dual processor).

SNES emulation should be no problem.

    :D

  4. This is interesting. Atari vs. Spectrum....

A pall of mine had a 130XE in the eighties and I had a Spectrum 48k.

He used to come to my place to play Spectrum games, I used to go to his place to play Atari games.

The difference was that I had several hundred Spectrum games (mostly illegal) and he had only a few Atari games (also mostly illegal).

Atari games used to be expensive, Spectrum games cheap.

For every Atari game you could buy at least 20 Spectrum games.

No, the real "contest" was C64 vs. Spectrum in those days.

This was the situation in the netherlands in the eighties.

  5. I bought mine in '98 for about $15,- (Fl.30,- in old Dutch money, no sign of the Euro in '98 :) ) at a local toy store.

The games where sold for $2,50, I bought 6.

After about 6 months I got 13 games and a carrying bag for free from my neighbour after his kids had broken (killed?) their two Lynxs.

    Lucky me :D

  6. I can't believe nobody here has mentioned Monkeyshine? I used to play this game for hours.

It's a game of tag you play against a bunch of monkeys. And the monkeys move around like just like, uh, real monkeys.  They would swing around on bars and chase you across the screen. It was a hoot to watch, much less play I'll tell ya.

    Yeah, funny game :)

  7. The Odyssey 2 was the machine that got me hooked on videogames, playing UFO at the local electronics shop, together with my younger brother.

When we finally had enough money to buy one, they were sold out.

All they had left was an Atari 2600 woody, still in my possession. :)

I bought a Videopac 7000 a few months back (same as Odyssey 2) with about 8 games including some US releases (no PAL/NTSC problems) and I must say I still like it, about the same as Atari.

    UFO still rules..

BTW Look at these different models.
