Pitfall II for me. I don't know, I just don't care for the first one much.
-
Because they were only 2K (instead of 4K) and they didn't need the high address line.

Ah. Thank you!

This might be a somewhat stupid question, but why is it that copies of the original nine games (and any subsequent releases of them) have only 23 pins, rather than 24, on their PCBs?

"Damn it, Stella! I don't CARE that the Automazeons don't want to die! JUST SHOOT THE EFFING DERELICTS!!!"
-
Oh my God, this game is crazy. It's like Dolphin in three dimensions and on crack!
-
That brings up a point - Quadrun and Berzerk VE both blank the screen while playing audio. I wonder if anyone's tried to output digitized audio like this while also trying to display a screen? Granted, the screen wouldn't be very detailed and the audio couldn't be very long, but it would be interesting nonetheless.
Open Sesame draws a screen while it says, "Open Sesame!" when you turn the system on.

Both of them are excellent. Delta is a bit livelier, though.

I'm guessing it's the Hot Rupee version with the naughty mini-games. Princess Peach gets all nekid!
LOL

I'll have to go look, but I believe Steel Talons doesn't use the flip feature. And I wouldn't swear taht Klax uses it (though it's sideways, so it should cover left or right handed anyways)
I just checked and Steel Talons does indeed have the flip feature.

Paul Slocum's music is a must!

Rather than Fire Fighter, I'd recommend getting Towering Inferno instead. The graphics aren't as good, but the gameplay is more solid.

And whatever holiday cart this year will entail

Eh, Racquetball's okay. It just takes getting into a nice rhythm, though I wish the ball wouldn't project shadows on the walls and ceiling.

I've never seen that Star Ship before. Interesting.
That one's pretty odd in that it was distributed over a period of 3 weeks in 1982 after Star Ship had been discontinued a few years prior. It's also a text label cart, even though other carts at the time were picture labels.

Nope, but it'd be cool.

Odd, I never had any actual exposure to the NES when I was younger. Hell, I didn't even really start playing video games until 1999! All I know is that while the NES is cool (Famicom is cooler, though), the Atari grabs my attention like nothing else and I've been collecting for it for about two years now. There are, however, a few dumbasses at my school who think I'm a total nutjob for favoring the VCS over the Xbox 360, that the graphics are nothing but stick figures, and generally have no effing clue what they're talking about.
-
The only one one I know I have is A.IV. Evolution for the PSX. It's a Japanese game, but I just spent what little money I have which means I have NO way of playing it yet.
-
Nice. I'll definitely have to get A-VCS-tec some time when I actually have money.
-
This game is neat

This is my firt post here. I've been following the threads the last few months and have learned alot here. This is really a great site. I was about 7 or 8 when i got my first Atari, and yes like most here am still into the retro geekage, much to my wife's dismay. When I was a kid I remember how fun, and easy it was, to find people to play atari with. These days if you express interest in an old system like Atari you are often met with a laugh that is a mixture of disbelief and pitty. Anyway, I'm wondering if many people are able to find fellow gamers to play Atari with? I guess Atari just isn't considered too cool in central IL, but I beg to differ with that view! lol. Brad
Awesome, I thought I was the only one here from central Illinois. Atari for life!

(Out of curiosity, which county do you live in?)

Ok, I'll be the first one to stick up for Space Jockey. Granted, on the default game variation, things get boring pretty quicky. But try playing variations 13-16 with both difficulties set to "A." Challenging, but still fun.
No doubt, Space Jockey on level 15 is fun. Luckily we have Air Raid, which forces you to die eventually. I usually play Space Jockey until I just get worn out and turn it off. Air Raid on level 7, Difficulty A/A and I'm dead in a few minutes. I love it!

The AtariAge rarity guide is a good place to start. I would imagine you're welcome to put your own spin on the word, if you'd like.I knew about the guide already, but I've noticed sometimes that some collectors think "Rare" isn't actually rare
. But yeah, the rarest I have are two R5's (Raft Rider and Submarine Commander) and 12 R4's (Krull, Pitfall II, Bridge, Robot Tank, Stellar Track, Bermuda Triangle, Squeeze Box, Sub Scan, California Games, Gangster Alley, Survival Run, and Racquetball). -
Nice to see that others have dreams about completely odd-ball games. I've had 2 (3?) dreams about going to Game X Change and finding all these completely rare, unheard-of (and completely mass-produced
) games in all sorts of weird formats (including a slew of games on VHS tapes with no need for special accessories
) then all of a sudden I'm home and it turns out that I actually got the games in an unknown yet surprisingly well-stocked and taken-care-of room in our house. Then I wake up and realize that my collection hasn't become one of the most valuble in the world.I was even able to play them, too.

What's your favorite "Pokémon" game?

I've neglected it for a while, but Yellow is my favorite, though I do want to get Silver.
