Too many times. I've noticed recently there's this dude trying to sell not-very-rare games for $49 as the starting bid and with Buy It Now being $95. Now that's dreaming if I ever saw it. But, each to his own, eh?
-
Unfortunately, the rarest games I ever find at Game X Change are R4's, and they don't even show up often. Very good deal, though!
-
Wow! That's certainly an improvement over the first one. I like it a lot!
-
I'm also interested. The 2600 is just a frickin' neat system and It'd be awesome to learn how it works. I have no programming skills whatsoever, though.
(I've had an idea for a game for a while now, but it would be WAY too sophisticated for a complete newb.)

*listens to the title music over and over again while ogling that wonderful "wave" effect*
Absolutely excellent work!
-
Personally, I think Crystal Castles should be somewhere on there.
-
However, it was very clever how the programmer of Circus Atari scrunched those black lines together to be the "jump-up portal" for the clowns to come out of. Cool idea right there.
-
Well, this should only take about three nanoseconds SKEET SHOOT!!!!!!!
Could this game have any worse graphics? Well, if my basic hacking skills have anything to say about this then, yes, yes it can.

If only I had two votes...
I would have to say David Crane, mostly because I've played all his games and it's amazing he was able to pull all of this off.
However, I also have to mention Doug Neubauer. I mean, c'mon! M*A*S*H and Solaris!
(Combat is quite an achievement too considering there was virtually no precendent for original games at the time [outside of Pong variants]).You do know that Combat is a port of Tank from the arcades, don't you?

-
Technically, no. If you see any screenshots, you might notice that "IMAGIC" has been changed to "Activision."
Activision and Mediagenics are the same company. They went with Mediagenics for a little while because they wanted to start manufacturing computers and wanted to be taken seriously.

That's an awesome story. Pretty freaky when the USSR contacted you. Then again, you may just be in the Twilight Zone muahahahaha.

I've only been a member here for a few months since I started growing my Atari 2600 collection. Don't remember how long I've been going to the site, though.

There are no flea markets or thrift stores reasonably near us that sell Atari stuff. I've only made like one Atari purchase on eBay (since I have virtually no money) and that was a 1982-release Star Ship for 99 cents
. All my other findings have been at Game X Change, which has a crapload of cartridges for $1.95 each and THEN there's a Buy 1, Get 1 Free offer (which totally rocks). However, I'm pretty suspicious whenever I see an Ice Hockey cart and yes there is a story I have about that. You see, one time I went in there and got a few carts, one of which was Ice Hockey. They all worked fine except Ice Hockey. I returned it, got 2 replacement carts (when I should have only gotten 1
), and all was good. Fast forward a month or so and I go in again to get some games. One of those was Ice Hockey. Turns out that was the SAME damn defective cartridge I'd bought earlier! Needless to say, I was particularly pissed when I found out. So my dad goes back to return it and came back with another Ice Hockey. DEFECTIVE AGAIN!!! This time I've had it. So we went back so I could get the replacement myself. Well, luckily, I'm only one of like what? 2 or 3 people that actually buys 2600 games and there was a Pitfall II cart. So I snagged The Lost Caverns and made a side purchase for a Text # Blackjack and all was good. And you thought this didn't have a happy ending
.But other than that, the guys and gals over there run a good business and I'm pretty sure I'm one of the "regulars" there.
One of the guys my dad works with was getting rid of his old videogames and my dad told him about how I collect these and I got 10 games, 2 of which were R4s (Bermuda Triangle and Krull). Again, all was good.
*End of Blathering Line*

Yes, but they cost more to make and therefore, to use. It's still cheaper to cannibalize common carts. With no regard to the ROM chip's cries?
You don't want to know how many 2600 carts I "ruin" in order to turn them into new homebrew games..STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...oh, my precious Combats...no, we don't want that to happen, do we?...no, my preciouses...
-
All hail Colin Mochrie!!
Well, I guess I've gotta learn how to use a soldering iron now.....
And not waste all my money on games...
-
You should, from my experience, have:
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
Pitfall II
Berzerk
Midnight Magic
Night Driver
Frogs and Flies
Reactor (I don't see why not)
Solaris
Maze Craze
Dragonfire
Air Raiders
And the obligatory 5 copies of Combat, but you already knew that. Still lookin' for a 6th, though...

Oh yeah, and any Text # cart you can find (Why oh why didn't I get that 41 Surround?)
-
I love label variations. I currently have 4 Combats: Text # with red outline on the end label, Text, Picture, and Tele-Games Text (is there a picture label for that?) and I'm looking for a Text # with a silver end label outline (damn my inability to get that one off my mind!). I won't get variations that require a scanning electron microscope to see, though. Just buy the carts you want and nothing more.
I currently have multiples for these games besides Combat:
2 Star Ships
3 Indy 500s
2 Air Sea Battles
I don't have a huge collection (30 carts), but hey, all things take time and game collecting is really fun anyway.
Yes, that stupid brain we have.

Nice. I'd absolutely LOVE to have one of those babies. Unfortunately, the left port on my mom's old 4-switch is screwy and my dad and I have no idea how to fix or replace it. We have a 2600 Jr. coming our way, though, so hopefully I'll be able to play single-player games by the end of the week.
-
There are a lot of games I can't buy/play right now because CRAP!!!
the stupid left controller port has broken loose and I can't get the controller plug to make contact
.My purple monkey is just a baby right now.
-
I guess I'm lucky then. I started my collection just last week so I don't have collectionitis. Although the purple monkey does seem to have some sound advise. Fruit is good. Especially persimmons and pomegranates
.Moral of the story: Don't listen to what the jealous cartridges say and play a nice game of Frogs and Flies. Especially with some pineapple

*looks for nuclearboy*
Is Mr. Youranus even here?
Ah, whatever. It just sounds like some random bug in the game
. -
Very nice
. I wonder what the card for Video Life would say... -
Shut up.A picture of Youranus?
Just stop.
Anyway, what should we tell our friend here? Does Youranus exist in the game or not?
-
Suurrrrre......
Why not try getting a picture of it if you're so sure?

I'd go with the latter. I mean, seriously, Freeway Rabbit?!?
