  1. Sounds pretty nice. The samples are a huge part of the charm of this game. And the game itself is great, too, though I suck at it.
  2. Cosmic Commuter - 15,570 Crazy Climber - 123,100 Cosmic Creeps - 22,100 Copter Commander - 1034
  3. It's fantastic to see this finally come out. It'll be a great help for developing my game. I wonder: why does Stella keep the display black for about a third of a second after the the start of emulation? I understand that TV format autodetection takes a little time, but the vast majority of ROMs that I tested stabilize their scanline counts and go into their main loops in three or four frames. Why keep it completely blank for so long? 64-bit Stella on Windows 10 Home 64-bit, if that's relevant.
  4. It's neat to see that people still care about my old Stella's Stocking video.
  5. Is it feasible to use the original arcade voice samples, even if at a somewhat lower sample frequency?
  6. I finally realized that the TIA's HMxxx registers work by converting 2's complement to offset-8. Wasn't sure what the point was of flipping the top bit, but Wikipedia came to the rescue.

  7. Exactly, which is why I much prefer each pair of colors to be from the same hue. That's understandable. A checkbox in the video settings (or wherever else appropriate) would be perfect.
  8. To expand on this, I quite like the scheme of [base color, lighter color] for marking the object pairs. My ideal fixed palette would be the pre-5.0 one with the ball color slightly darkened, but I don't see the point in scrapping a useful scheme just so you make a rainbow with the objects.
  9. Will the debug colors be editable? Frankly, I'd gotten used to the old set and seeing that P1 and M1 use completely different hues and that PF and BL more or less swapped their colors is throwing me for a loop and is kinda disturbing.
  10. Yes, the Booster Grip's two buttons connect to the paddle inputs and work basically as you describe.
  11. The Epyx 500XJ is pretty decent, but I've been pretty fully converted to using a Sega Genesis pad. It has a good size and nice curves to hold on to, without sharp corners; though the edges on the D-pad start to irritate my thumb a bit if I'm playing something particularly intense like Millipede.
  12. Q*Bert's Qubes - 22,645 Yeah, this game is kinda tough. I'm getting the hang of it, though.
  13. Entombed - 23 This game is awful and all I wanted is to get a score above 20 and stop playing it, so I have that at least. If I saw a zombie in the graveyard, I'd try to quietly take a few photos, get the hell out, and call 911.
  14. The line is just an artifact of the horizontal blank turning off at the beginning of a scanline. It's a dim green for me on my Rev. E 2600 Jr., on a CRT by the way. Wherever it's offset, that tells you that one or more movable objects (players, missiles, ball) is being shifted horizontally with the TIA's HMOVE function; part of HMOVE's (normal) operation is to delay the end of horizontal blank by 8 pixels. Which explains why the offset shows up with the Moon Patrol enemies and Harmony menu text. I don't know of a way to remove it. There are probably slight differences in the video signal amplification between the VCS and 7800, especially since my Junior was made while 7800s were also being made, which probably rules out age as a factor. It would be worth hooking up your 7800 to the CRT too to compare, if you get the chance. The 7800 may exhibit it slightly.
  15. Seaquest - 173,260 Haha, Seaquest certainly speeds up. Great game!
  16. Seaquest - 65,000 A really good game. Haven't played it for a long time.
  17. Easier said than done. This has been my first experience with Fast Eddie and I'm still kinda terrible at it. Decent game, though.
  18. Well there goes my chance at a bunch of bonus points. Okay. I'll fire up Fast Eddie and go for a higher score tonight.
  19. I stuck to the right side and focused my attention on only two "lanes" of items at a time.
