  1. Was having breakfast this AM, looked at my eggs, and got the inspiration for a totally new, never before thought of video game character.

    This is gonna be huge!

How about GLOBAL THERMAL NUCLEAR WAR? yeah let's play that game... greetings professor falken... would you like to play a game?

    3. GoldLeader

Hey you never updated us on what ya played next!

    4. Razzie.P

Haven't started yet.   This evening or tomorrow AM, hopefully.  Landed on PS5, and now it's a toss up between Shadow Complex Remastered, or Persona 5, which are both PS4 games, but they're in my library on PS5, so works for me.    Loved Shadow Complex the first couple of playthroughs on Xbox 360 years ago, and its not a very long game -- I've never played a Persona game, and I keep hearing tons of praise for that one.

  3. "Ratchet and Clank" is my happy place 😀

I feel the same way about Banjo Kazooie...Nothing like a good 3D platformer to sooth the soul.

    3. Razzie.P

Kind of ashamed to admit that I haven't played Banjo Kazooie games yet.  I have them on N64, and XBox via the Rare collection, and they're always on my "need to play those soon" list in my mind, but haven't done it yet.

    4. SlidellMan

You should do so, they're two of the best games for the system. That, and they have aged far better than most games that console generation.

  4. From the PS5 setup manual -- “Use a coin or similarly shaped object to tighten the screw.”   Yeah, my go-to tool for that would have been a screwdriver, but I guess I’m old fashioned.

Real video game consoles like the Viking X most probably had no screws to tighten.

    3. GoldLeader

^That thing looks like it should play Famicom games with an Amon Amarth soundtrack!

    4. GoldenWheels

Oh you need something screwed or unscrewed? Hold on, my wife will grab her favorite bent-tip butter knife from the drawer...

  5. Bought a garden hose called NeverKink.  Within 10 mins of use, it kinked.  I feel deceived.

    1. Zoyous

Just be glad you didn't get a NeverExplode!

    2. DragonGrafx-16

      sounds kinky lol

    3. jd_1138

      They really "got you".

  6. Trying to do a factory reset on my XBox One to get it ready to sell, but it's making me log in and download a huge update before wiping it all clean.

    1. ClassicGMR

One last "sticking it to ya!" before it goes

  7. I don't normally ooh and ahh over "special editions" of games that have a lot of junk I wouldn't buy otherwise, but man... those Castlevania sets on LRG are really tempting.

  8. What do the joystick icons between the profile pic and post count represent?  I’m sure it’s mentioned here somewhere, but I can’t seem to find it.   Thanks in advance!

    1. CPUWIZ

This is how it all began.

    2. GoldLeader

      TL;DR  I'm betting it has to do with number of posts...But I don't know...It was too long;  I didn't read it ;)

  9. Shinobi Arcade – recently, I made a personal goal to master the arcade version of Shinobi.  Today, I’m happy to announce that I’ve become 100% at peace with the fact that one should be flexible with such goals.  In other words, fu*k that!

I beat it on Switch but had to cheat by using the save feature.  Super hard game!

    3. Razzie.P

I can get to the end boss on Mission 4 consistently with one credit.  Magic gets him down to a single hit, and sometimes I can land that hit and move on, other times nope.  Funny thing about Mandara, though… I can get there with a single life, but I can NEVER beat that boss until I’ve died a couple of times.  I’m not sure what’s the deal, but it seems impossible until it has slapped me around a bit.   Switch version (Sega Ages) is great!  The “cheat” features on that helped me learn the placements.

    4. retrorussell

That Mandara boss is a snap if you get right up to the columns and use your magic.  The columns will overtake you as the magic goes off, then you get bumped backwards in front of the statue head.  Destroy it before it can shoot fireballs.  Easy!  Too bad this doesn't work on the Master System (can't use magic on bosses).

  10. Used my new “contactless” debit card today, for the first time.  Tapped the card, then had to press “debit,” then had to press “ok,” then had to press “yes,” then had to type in the pin, then had to press “ok” again.  So in total, I had to touch the card reader 9 times to use my “contactless” card.

    1. Keatah

So much for ad companies. They lie lie lie.

  11. Bluehost renewal price last year was 17.99 per year.  This year --- 611.64 for 3 years.  No changes were made.  WTF?

  12. “We're the Mario Brothers, and plumbing's our game.  We're not like the others who get all the fame”

… uh, what plumbers are more famous than Mario and Luigi?

    1. Reaperman

That show ruined my ability to hear any version of the 1-1 tune without also hearing Lou Albano singing along.  'Swing your arms, from side to side...'

  13. Someone just sent me an email about a game I made – they discovered a secret area and emailed to ask “dude… did you know this was in here?”  🤣

    1. jd_1138

lol, I guess they thought the "video game fairy" snuck in some code without the programmer's knowledge.

    2. GoldLeader

Should reply with, "Whaaaaa!?   How'd That get in there?"

    3. ClassicGMR

In Intellivision lingo that is an unintended "feature!"

  14. A cold rainy day, no work, a big box of Fruity Pebbles, and Wizards and Warriors on NES + 15" CRT combo.  Great day so far!

    1. Wally1

I prefer sugar smacks, thank you very much.

  15. Wonder if someone at a printer business ever suggested "we should build a printer that just works," and was promptly laughed out of the meeting?

My Epson MX-80 F/T w/Graftrax III still functions today. And that's an early 80's purchase.

I don't think the industry has forgotten anything. They're under many forces and directives to produce the product they produce.

    3. Keatah

The industry can't support its bloated self with a longer-life 80's quality impact printer. They need the high turnover. High obsolescence.

    4. GoldLeader

I think the time is right to strike.  Considering how every printer I know of these days is junk, (not like I know anything though, but let's pretend just for this example);   A High Quality printer could be just what the market needs right now!  They might just sell a buttload of printers and do very well.

  16. Gonna upload a cover photo to my profile when I get home.  Anyone know what size is a good fit, if it even matters?

  17. Not sure which game to start next.  Looking at Knack 2 (loved the first), Hat in Time, or the Shadow of Colossus remake.

  18. In the mood for a racing game, so I figured I’d give Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox One X) a shot.  So far, my experience in the first couple of hours has been about 55% load screens, 35% driving around to get to the events, and about 5% actually racing.

    edit:  It's actually part 4 I'm playing, not 2.

Horizon Chase Turbo is on sale on Steam for 6 bucks.  Looks kinda ok

    3. Razzie.P

Horizon Chase Turbo is great, in my opinion!  I have it on PS4 (think it was a PS+ game at some point) and love it.

    4. Tickled_Pink

Pretty much why I hate the Horizon series and why I don't understand why it's got to game no. 4. I guess it's for those who think GTA and Need for Speed are racing simulators.

  19. As I’ve said for the past 20 revisions – It’s finished and I’m not changing anything else!   … and I meant it every time

I've had it so long, I don't even notice it anymore.  But the subject makes me want to go grab a cup of coffee!

    3. GoldLeader

Cool!  Is your game something we can see, or play, or buy yet?

    4. Razzie.P

Hopefully within the next week or 2.  Just waiting for the printshop to deliver the goods.

  20. Me playing around with GamePass is a lot like me playing around with Rom collections.  I keep sampling everything there, but never actually playing anything for more than a few mins.

    1. masschamber

sign up for the microsoft rewards,  and the gamepass rewards and it does give some things to chase after.  You can get a whopping 5 cents a day for achievements plus quite a few other things that end up like 5 dollars a month in reward credits.  Basically I  use it as a structure to find a game I enjoy and try for an achievement a day.

  21. Anyone know a place (or seller) where I can buy a couple hundred NES Styrofoam inserts?   Websites I found via Google won't reply, and sellers on eBay seems to be sold out.

    1. GoldLeader

Maybe you could just search for "styrofoam inserts" (leaving out the NES) then look for the proper size.  Just a suggestion.  I don't know if it will work.

  22. Decided to give "Legendary Axe 2" a shot.   Two levels in – I’ve had a sword.  I’ve had a chain type weapon.  And a (better, I assume) sword.  But not an Axe in sight.   Not only is it legendary, it’s quite an elusive critter, I suppose.

      @save2600 So it's like Deathstalker 2?

    3. NE146

I bought Legendary Axe 2 the minute it came out. I eventually could finish it very easily but let me just say that I hardly remember anything about that game.  Kind of shows how unremarkable it was since I remember Legendary Axe easily despite never playing it in the same amount of time.

    4. GoldLeader

I like it.   I believe the name in Japanese was something else...So "Legendary Axe" worked for the first one, but not the sequel...

  23. The bigger they are, the harder you have to focus your attack on that small, flashing spot – video game logic.

    1. Random Terrain

      Random Terrain

Remember, video games are the cause of all violence in the world, so it's best to avoid them. :D

    2. Magmavision2000

As a tall person, I can confirm we have flashing vulnerable points whenever we go into fight mode.

  24. Figured it was time for a display name change to bring my profile more in line with gaming/other site usernames

  25. New iPhone update killed the wifi on my daughter's phone.  Not sure if I hate Apple or just hate this trend of "every device needs to be updated to the point of virtual failure" these days.

    1. save2600

Apple's been screwing up so many basic things with their updates for years. How some of this crap goes undetected before release defies reason. Yes, *some* of the bugs eventually get fixed, but typically have to wait until so many more updates before they finally address them.

    2. Albert

Apple has made quite a few missteps over the past decade.  Their hardware and software have gotten worse, although it looks like recently they've started to turn around their hardware (the latest MacBook Pro is a nice improvement, as is the new Mac Pro, even if it's stupidly expensive).  Their software is much buggier than it used to be, no doubt about it.

I had to disable all Windows 10 updates in order to have a stable, usable system. Like ya'll I don't understand the incessant need to constantly make changes.
