  1. So I can order a 3 month Air Filter on Amazon (for the furnace) and add a 4 year protection plan for $9.99.  How's a thing like that work?

    1. jd_1138

It probably doesn't count for "consumable items" like filters.  I wonder if Amazon would actually keep sending new filters when you return the old ones for being clogged up.  :)

    2. save2600

A careless oversight (tons of them these days), but you'd think since it's a contract of sorts, that they'd have to honor it. You should try it!  :P

    3. joeatari1

Wish I got a warranty on my Atari Age membership.😜

  2. I hate clicking on an article (to read) but finding a video instead.

    1. Cobra Kai

      Cobra Kai

When it comes to Video Games, that includes this forum or other online articles, I still prefer the old school way of READING about the topic, with accompanying pictures. It's become a lost art form. Most people seem to just do the 'post a video and run' method.

    2. ClassicGMR

My favorite 🤮 is getting a video article then a WORD FOR WORD written transcript underneath it. Who gets paid to do this??

    3. DoctorSpuds

Or if it's a "top whatever number" list article and its a slideshow that takes you to a new page each time and each new page is 85% ads, and the 'next' button is tiny and located at the bottom of the page after six or seven sound-on video ads. Sorry lads, AdBlock's on for that crap if I don't back out immediately.

  3. I've spend the past hour using my PC to run PCSX2 to emulate a PS2, which I used to play Intellivision Lives, emulating an Intellivision, allowing me to play Night Stalker.  All with an XBox One controller.   I think I've stumbled on a premise for an Inception sequel.

    1. NE146

I think you're supposed to start that sentence with "Yo dawg,"

    2. GoldLeader

      That's Awesome!

Reminds me of this flyer I have.  It's a full color ad for Donkey Kong on Atari 2600.   (Paraphrasing here) It's:   COLECO presents NINTENDO's Donkey Kong for ATARI 2600, from SEGA Distribution.

  4. I starting reading my Conan comics again, and found myself getting a bit miffed when the price on the cover changed from 15 cents to 20 cents.

    1. Razzie.P

Conan the Barbarian (the one that started in 1970 or so)   I've never considered myself an active collector of anything, just bought whatever I wanted to read/watch/play etc, but for comics, I have managed to horde up complete collections of Conan the Barbarian, Savage Sword of Conan, and Groo the Wanderer <--- kinda like Conan I suppose  😄

    2. Razzie.P

The Savage Sword magazine was pretty special to me as a kid.  I'm not sure if the "magazine" format allowed them to get around the comic code restrictions or how they pulled it off, but I as blown away but how much those stories really captured the characters and world that I imagined when I read Howard's original stories.  The nudity and savage imagery was far and above what they were able to get away with in the comics books.

    3. GoldLeader

Haha Malrak,...I So remember when comics were a quarter, the same as a candy bar...Sometimes I'd get a comic after supper instead of a candy bar, which we often did if we went out to dinner (not all the time mind you).   And I remember being almost perplexed the day I noticed both went up to 35 cents!

  5. Anyone happen to know the radius for the corners on NES Cartridge labels?  I'm testing a few label designs and plan to pick up a simple corner-cutting tool, but not sure what size to get.  My google searches are coming up short as well.

  6. Life’s 2 big “impossibles”, so it seems -  following the arrows in a parking lot, and simply ignoring a troll online.   People just can’t seem to do either of these.

  7. First game finished for 2020 -- The Witcher on PC.  Also, if I ever need to apply for a job as "errand boy," you'd better believe I'm gonna use that as my main qualification.

  8. I wish I could start taking Pac-Man to the movies with me.

  9. Within the next few weeks, I plan to hire an artist/designer to create a box for a NES game.  Anyone on here do this type of work and may be interested?

    1. atari2600land

Sounds right up Marc Oberhauser's valley!

  10. Opinions wanted!  Feedback welcome!  Which color palette to use!   Head on over to the thread for details --

Or skip right to the videos if ya want.

White or Gray??  Thoughts and opinions welcome and appreciated!

    1. R_Leo_1

      I prefer the gray myself.

    2. onemoretime

Grey. If the game is beatable, maybe white the second go round?

  11. Any help for this kid's Minecraft woes would be greatly appreciated!

  12. A user on this site has a profile pic of a coffee cup with animated smoke/steam rising from it.  Any idea who?  I've seen it several times, and would like to use it as a reference for game art, but can't find it now.

      Joe C.

I used to use a coffee cup with Smithore (M.U.L.E.) on it....

      Cafeman was it.  Thanks!

  13. Good job, Amazon!  The $150.00 book set was damaged, but at least you save a few cents worth of bubble wrap!

^ ... until or unless they decide to yank them from your digital library.

    3. Keatah

I DEMAND the HIGHEST quality of goods I get from amazon. One tiny itsy-bitsy scratch and back it goes. 5 times if necessary. Fuck the environment and gas wasted in transport and time spent with restocking or product destruction. Their problem.

    4. Flojomojo

They're usually great. But last week they packed my new swim goggles under 20lbs of cat litter, with predictable results. They made it right but was a needless  hassle for all involved.

  14. Commissioning an artist to animate an 8-bit sprite, 16 x 16 pixels, between 10 – 20 frames.  What’s a good price to offer?  Don’t want to lowball anyone, but have no idea what the going rate is for something like that.  Google searching placed it somewhere between 10 bucks and my firstborn.  Thanks in advance!

    1. RockyRaccoon

It's gonna depend on how detailed you want the sprite to be, and how complicated the animation is, really.  What exactly are you wanting done?

    2. Razzie.P

Nothing really complicated. Basically a little square guy walking in 4 directions, 2 - 4 frames of animation in each direction.  16 x 16 pixels, 3 colors.  Animation like the main character in "Minit" is the best example that comes to mind.  We have the character design already, just not sure what $$ to offer the artist.  He put it in my court, and I don't wanna lowball anyone, as I mentioned.

    3. DragonGrafx-16

Top down right? 16x16 is pretty small and should not take much time to do. $10-20 ($1 per frame?) would seem about right to me for just a single sprite. Obviously if you were having them design the sprite it would be more. I know it would only take me about an hour to do, less if you already had a base sprite. But I'm used to using like 16 colors max (and 64x64 for most things) on sprites, 3 would be harder.

  15. My status updates are working again!  Woo!!!

  16. Any suggestions for a nice sprite/tile creation tool for a kid to use who's wanting to create 8/16 bit era graphics?

    1. Flojomojo

RPGmaker would be neat to try. I think it's expensive but Humble Bundle has had it for next to nothing more than once.

    2. DragonGrafx-16

I use Pyxel Edit to make tiles and Piskel for most sprites (mostly because it has a great mirror tool which Pyxel edit lacks).

    3. SmittyB

I use GraphicsGale which went freeware a couple of years ago.

  17. It took 11 months and 12 days, but I finally finished the entire Ys series! Started Book 1 last June, and finished part 8 tonight!

  18. Dracula never stood a chance against my whip, Holy Water, and save states!

  19. Blinking Light Win -- Anyone know the difference between BLW and AR-BLW?

    1. DragonGrafx-16

Nope but I have a BLW and I love it... games work every time!

  20. Since "gaming disorder" is now officially a thang, per WHO, that mean I can get some medical leave from work when the next Fire Emblem releases?

    1. jd_1138

Also, since sex addiction is a thing, can I not go into work on Tuesday so I can watch Chaturbate?

    2. GoldLeader

      Yes and Yes!

  21. Whoever made the decision to add a time limit to all mission in Ace Combat 7 should receive at least 2 kicks to the nuts as punishment.

    1. save2600

Not a huge fan of games with time limits myself, but a flight game with such limits sounds particularly annoying. ;-)

    2. x=usr(1536)

Would that be one kick distributed to each testicle, or two kicks to any part of the scrotal anatomy to be determined by the kicker?

  22. Just finished Ys SEVEN. Great game, but that final boss was every ounce the bullcrap that I've always heard it would be.

  23. I seem to be the only person on the planet who really enjoyed the series finale of GOT.

I liked it well enough too. They had to end it somewhere and it's hard to say it was rushed.

    3. thanatos

Wife and I both liked the ending. She just hated the previous 2 episodes.

  24. After playing a few hours, Fire Emblem Heroes really just seems like oodles of content (great) but not once ounce of actual gameplay. Big Fire Emblem fan here, but I don't know what they're going for with this thing, other than a quick cash grab.

  25. New GOT had it's moments and was good overall, but the camera work jumped around enough to make a "bourne" movie jealous.

    1. DoctorSpuds

but that ending tho, made everything worth it, I ain't gonna spoil anything.

    2. Flojomojo

So much darkness. Especially when Dothraki swords got snuffed.
