Ever play a game you just can't figure out if you like? Really on the fence with Tanglewood at the moment.
-
New GOT had it's moments and was good overall, but the camera work jumped around enough to make a "bourne" movie jealous.

85:15 Feels like my ratio of troubleshooting PC games to actually playing PC games.

Finished Doom 2016 on PC and Ys V on SNES. Now to figure out what's next.

@deepthaw - Chronicles on PC is a great remake. It keeps everything about the originals intact, for better or worse, but updates sound/graphics/dialog and a few quality of life type of tweaks. If you didn't already like the games, I don't figure it'll change any opinions, but I had a blast replaying with a few updates, then tearing through the boss rush modes.

30% Nintendo eShop for my BDay. What to get, o' what to get...

Eh, I hate finding an “article” that I’m legit interested in reading, but the damn thing is formatted as some kind of slide show with 1 sentence per page, and ads between each.
-
A user on this site has a profile pic of a coffee cup with animated smoke/steam rising from it. Any idea who? I've seen it several times, and would like to use it as a reference for game art, but can't find it now.
-
Is it just my luck with what I’m clicking on, or is AA becoming home to a LOT more threads that’s just “here’s my latest Youtube video…. Like and subscribe, y’all?”

@John Stamos Mullet I wouldn't yet declare a winner for that contest. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, 4chan, 8chan, reddit, and the speedrunning community have all been in contention for the top spot.
-
All of those are terrible too, sure. But YouTube is the only one where people have tried to turn the terrible crap they post on there into a "career". The only qualification for these chuckleheads to become a professional reviewer of (insert pop culture item here) is to have $30 to buy a webcam, and the shamelessness to record their hardcore edgelord opinions which are shared by the worst dregs of humanity.

Shinobi Arcade – recently, I made a personal goal to master the arcade version of Shinobi. Today, I’m happy to announce that I’ve become 100% at peace with the fact that one should be flexible with such goals. In other words, fu*k that!

I can get to the end boss on Mission 4 consistently with one credit. Magic gets him down to a single hit, and sometimes I can land that hit and move on, other times nope. Funny thing about Mandara, though… I can get there with a single life, but I can NEVER beat that boss until I’ve died a couple of times. I’m not sure what’s the deal, but it seems impossible until it has slapped me around a bit. Switch version (Sega Ages) is great! The “cheat” features on that helped me learn the placements.
-
That Mandara boss is a snap if you get right up to the columns and use your magic. The columns will overtake you as the magic goes off, then you get bumped backwards in front of the statue head. Destroy it before it can shoot fireballs. Easy! Too bad this doesn't work on the Master System (can't use magic on bosses).

Apparently, my reading comprehension goes straight to Hades when I try to follow the “FPGA Based Videogame System” thread.

So we can react with like, thanks, haha, confused, and sad. But seems we need a reaction for “damn, man… why you gotta be such a dick?!?!”

Is “Copy and Paste the Whole Damn Thing from Twitter” a course requirement for journalism majors, now?
-
Yes. And comments from random users and even bots are considered verifiable sources to back-up outlandish claims. Its all a feedback loop. It works like this: make up fake story, get users to comment = we have verification! Then on the TV news "here's what is trending on Twitter"...even more verification! Easy peasy

Bought a garden hose called NeverKink. Within 10 mins of use, it kinked. I feel deceived.

Someone just sent me an email about a game I made – they discovered a secret area and emailed to ask “dude… did you know this was in here?” ?

New iPhone update killed the wifi on my daughter's phone. Not sure if I hate Apple or just hate this trend of "every device needs to be updated to the point of virtual failure" these days.
-
Apple has made quite a few missteps over the past decade. Their hardware and software have gotten worse, although it looks like recently they've started to turn around their hardware (the latest MacBook Pro is a nice improvement, as is the new Mac Pro, even if it's stupidly expensive). Their software is much buggier than it used to be, no doubt about it.

So I can order a 3 month Air Filter on Amazon (for the furnace) and add a 4 year protection plan for $9.99. How's a thing like that work?
-
I hate clicking on an article (to read) but finding a video instead.
-
Or if it's a "top whatever number" list article and its a slideshow that takes you to a new page each time and each new page is 85% ads, and the 'next' button is tiny and located at the bottom of the page after six or seven sound-on video ads. Sorry lads, AdBlock's on for that crap if I don't back out immediately.

Commissioning an artist to animate an 8-bit sprite, 16 x 16 pixels, between 10 – 20 frames. What’s a good price to offer? Don’t want to lowball anyone, but have no idea what the going rate is for something like that. Google searching placed it somewhere between 10 bucks and my firstborn. Thanks in advance!
-
Nothing really complicated. Basically a little square guy walking in 4 directions, 2 - 4 frames of animation in each direction. 16 x 16 pixels, 3 colors. Animation like the main character in "Minit" is the best example that comes to mind. We have the character design already, just not sure what $$ to offer the artist. He put it in my court, and I don't wanna lowball anyone, as I mentioned.
-
Top down right? 16x16 is pretty small and should not take much time to do. $10-20 ($1 per frame?) would seem about right to me for just a single sprite. Obviously if you were having them design the sprite it would be more. I know it would only take me about an hour to do, less if you already had a base sprite. But I'm used to using like 16 colors max (and 64x64 for most things) on sprites, 3 would be harder.
-
Any suggestions for a nice sprite/tile creation tool for a kid to use who's wanting to create 8/16 bit era graphics?

C64 Mini for 40 bucks at WalMart plus 5 bucks back via TopCashBack? Sure, I'll bite.
-
TopCashBack is a websit that gives you small percentages back for buying at walmart/target/amazon, etc. Usually 1 - 5 percent back, but they frequently have offers like "spend $25 and get an extra $5 back," which is what I used for the C64. I signed up and started using it when Star Wars Episode 7 released. They gave 100% of the price back, and that pulled me in

The bigger they are, the harder you have to focus your attack on that small, flashing spot – video game logic.

Three signs in the window of a restaurant drive thru asking me “due to national coin shortage, please consider rounding up”
Google says this place makes about 6 million per year. If they really wanna help with the coin shortage, they’re always welcome to round down. -
Not sure if “modern games, ugh… “ or “getting old, ugh…” but started a new game last night, and dozed off before the all the opening cinematic crap finished
-
I think that's a legit gripe.
I went through the same thing trying out "Super Lucky's Tale" on Xbox Game Pass.
The opening is, of course, an unskippable movie that seriously looks like it's made for little kids or creepy furries.Nevertheless, around the 5 minute mark I promptly quit the game and uninstalled it.
Developers need to get a clue about this sort of stupid nonsense as it is unnecessary. Users should vote with their dollars and avoid these games.

Drove by 2 Gamestops this morning, and both had long lines outside the door waiting for them to open. Something new come out today that people area hoping to scalp?

A friggin' huge tote full of cords and cables I've held on to "in case I need one" but I'm off to Walmart in a few to see if they have a 1/4 to 1/4 male aux cable because it seems easier to than digging through that mess.
