  1. Some of them, yes. There were a couple I tried and just didn't like, but I don't remember what they were. Those didn't sell me on the system or turn me away. Was mostly indifference. But I also tried a few games that I knew I should really like, and those I remember -- Blue Lightning -- I loved airplanes and such. Top Gun, Afterburner, heck, I even loved making paper airplanes. But this game felt horrible to me. Rygar -- Love the NES game and really like the arcade version. But not this one. Ninja Gaiden -- This one was odd because I remember him saying he couldn't sell it to me yet, but I could try it out and they would give me a call when it's available. I had the impression it was some secret, not yet released game or something, but I dunno.. maybe he just didn't have any in stock or something. Anyways, I loved the NES version, and I think this may have been the game that officially made me say "nope"
  2. That's probably accurate overall. For my personal experience growing up during the time, I think the older, more educated kids did that, but I don't remember anyone in my social circles ever caring about specs, though. Other than the generic "I wish it looked like the arcade" type of mentality. Me personally, Frostbite, Keystone Capers, and River Raid were top plays well into the Genesis era. And SMS games like Rastan, Miracle Warriors and R-Type were tops during the Genesis era as well, since they were "new" to me thanks to the converter. All those games and eras just kind of blended together. I didn't really start to care much about it until PS1 and N64 game along and I was just couldn't take it. Games stated looking like ass. Playing like ass. Couldn't do it. Nowadays I think the politically correct term is "they didn't age well" or something. But that stuff nearly pushed me out entirely.
  3. I tried something similar back in the day with a bunch of ninja games. Lots of scars and broken bones from my stupidity.
  4. So, that takes me back to what I believe is a bit of a funny memory. I was the type of kid that wanted any and all games that I could get my grubby little hands on. If it was a video game, I wanted it. We were poor so I didn't always get what I wanted, but still had that "gotta have it" mentality. And I can remember when I went get a Lynx, I was about 14 or 15... Mom and Granny (and probably a couple of uncles) were pitching in to buy if and a couple of games for me, lumped in with the cash I had already earned and saved up. I was super excited, having seen it in magazines and probably Sears Catalog, but not sure about that one. Store owner let me play it and try out some games so I can see which ones I wanted and after playing it, I was like... "uh... I don't think I want this, it's kinda crap." 🤣 Store owner seemed so agitated, I guess I wasted his time and determined to sell something. Mom was trying to talk to me into getting it, likely trying to be nice since it was embarrassing that I wasted their time. I dunno, the whole thing felt so awkward but all I knew was "I don't want this crap." Killed any and all interest in handhelds for me, and I never came back around until the GBA SP came out.
  5. I'm still showing 10+, which means at least 11 but no more than 49, I believe. It updates daily though, so maybe tomorrow we'll see it reflect those umpteen billions of customers that we've heard so much about over the years.
  6. Nah, they should get their crap together and make it work as easily and as well as the others, and just add a "mute" option for people like us who don't want to hear it. Some folks love a good timepiece, so nothing wrong with a watch hunt.
  7. Nintendo does a lot of annoying crap, for sure. They all do, in my opinion, but this recent crackdown doesn't fit the bill. Do you honestly feel that Atari, Sega, or Sony wouldn't react the same way if someone released and was vastly profiting off a software that allowed people to pirate their current software lineup? Atari -- if someone created an app to let you download and play all modern Atari stuff, recharged, whatever VCS stuff is out there, System Shock remake, etc without buying it legit, you don't think they'd react in a similar manner? Keep in mind this is the same company that recent shut down someone's home-made cart storage things because they listed that it worked with Atari carts. Not to mention the dbag examples that Beefy already posted. You think they'd be all cool with it? Sega -- same thing -- they have some new titles they've announced and a lot of great current stuff out there. If we release an app tomorrow that says "click here to download and play ALL modern Sega titles for free," think they'd be cool with it? The same company that shut down a Golden Axe fan made game is suddenly gonna be all cool because... er... reasons I guess. Sony -- plop out a PS5 emulator that works great with downloaded images of commercially available PS5 games, make $$$ off that and watch what happens (research their reaction to Bleem for a hint) MS, just for kicks since they weren't mentioned -- check out how they reacted to people selling mod chips that allowed piracy. I seem to remember they won a $9 million lawsuit or something like that.
  8. Internet pissing contest. Sorry you missed it, but it's not really different than the many I'm sure you've already seen. "My opinion is more better righter than your opinion and that's a fact!" repeated on loop.
  9. Your concerns are false because they have stupid dates and spent money on licenses for demos or games they weren't working on. Feels nice to be helpful. 😋 Oh... dang it 😕
  10. Sad thing was, I was a pretty good fit for what they claimed was their "target audience," I think. Kids, family, gamer, disposable income and buys a lot of useless shit whether it's worth it or not. I was the "sucker with youngins and money" that they've been dreaming of. And they blew it...
  11. It's on the launchpad and just needs more money from suckers fuel! Plus, the marketing hasn't started yet.
  12. I'll do it if I'm still alive and kicking. I set myself a reminder/alarm on my calendar. If I'm dead, whoever has access to that calendar can be like "dafuq!?" when they see the "be a jerk and necrobump that shit!" reminder.
  13. Wait... so other than the "2 devices needed" nonsense, you actually wanted to pay $15 each for these?
  14. So, we know it's not gonna happen, of course, but for the giggles --- lets say they manage to release actual controllers this holiday at a decent price point... anyone planning to buy? Maybe just as a collectible (some of y'all bought empty boxes, so that's not a stupid assumption) or maybe with hopes it can be a neat gadget to work with PC emulators or something. Heck, people have a hit with "so and so beat Dark Souls with guitar controller" and things like that, so it'll not be completely useless if someone gets creative. I have zero interest in getting one for those "$15 a pop" mobile games they're crapping out, but there's a slight chance I'd be slightly, mildly, a wee bit, like 3 out of 10 interested in having a couple if they can be used for anything else, like PC or rpi. Maybe on clearance or something.
  15. Yep, we'll probably see Last of Us, Uncharted, and God of War on GBA any day now.
  16. I first saw VF in the arcade section of our local grocery store. They always used to have 2 to 3 machines there at any given time and would rotate in new ones. That one replaced Street Fighter 2 or Narc, I can't remember which. I didn't like it though. I was very comfortable with SF 2 type of gameplay so whenever the new bunch hit, I couldn't quite get into them.
  17. That could be fun. AA&A - AtariAge & Amico: Last Thread Standing The story of how one company wouldn't let their scam die, and one forum community couldn't get enough of the nonsense.
  18. Actually, nah he really doesn't. I've seen the occasional reply, but definitely not "everything you say."
  19. It's not a "such is the way here" thing. I didn't quote you... I said you chimed in to let us know that "or something like that." Guess you pretended that part wasn't there, "but such is the way here" I hear. So alright, it was "until they ran out of money..." that doesn't change anything about what I said. People are upset and venting over the fact they can't get a refund when that promise was made many, many times. You proactively chiming in to let everyone know they gave refunds "until they ran out of money" still elicits the "well, no shit... still doesn't change the fact they're not keeping the promise" reaction that I mentioned and serves no purpose other than trolling in people who are upset about it.
  20. I dunno, dude... to the rest of us, it seems like you're trolling everyone else and they (well, some at least) are responding in an overly aggressive, negative manner. Like, peeps could be talking about some shittiness related to Amico, Tommy, etc, and you'll proactively interject some fact that doesn't do anything but annoy folks. Like, you may be 100% correct, but it serves no point whatsoever. For example, many times people have vented over the broken "100& refundable at any time" promise. And rightfully so. It was a lie. It contributed to the scam. And it was shitty. And you'll chime in to to remind us all how they gave refunds until they didn't, or something like that. And we're all thinking "well, no shit... still doesn't change the fact they're not keeping the promise." You weren't trolled into those discussions, you just felt the need to add something and it trolled the rest. Kinda crappy to see some of the hostile replies you're getting, of course. To me, that sort of behavior seems unnecessary, but there are some, like that "redditshreadit" dude (from Beefy's screenshots) who has one of those jerk mentalities and would say that's it's funny and you deserve it. Some people, jeez...
  21. Smurfberries. "I'm here to kick ass and chew Smurfberries, and I'm all outta Smurfberries"
  22. Fill that giant hole in his soul where Sega used to be. Yes. Something modern and trendy like Duke Nukem. And Smurfs. In the same game, if possible.
  23. Get it on your butt cheek so Atari can claim they own your ass.
