  1. Since you put it out there, I have a question. How do you work at Safeway and collect S.S. benefits at your age? You definitely don't look old enough to collect S.S. Thus my question.
  2. I just read an article about this sale. Seems pretty damn legitimate to me. Someone Donated A $10,000 Rare Game To Goodwill (yahoo.com)
  3. From the picture they took of the game.
  4. Were you taking undercover video lol? I sure hope the few retro arcades in Oregon make it through this nightmare....Quartercade and Ground Kontrol.

Oh man!   I would have bid $160,000 if I knew they made a part 3!

  5. Looks like cheating Billy Mitchell is up to more B.S. https://www.engadget.com/billy-mitchell-twin-galaxies-court-hearing-005935591.html

  6. Given, I am a fairly new 2600 fan, but Adventure is a pretty awesome game. What are you talking about when you say that Adventure only has 12 screens? I don't know the exact total, but it sure isn't 12. If I am wrong, please explain why.
  7. Even though I do not even remotely agree with this list... It doe's provide a good read. https://www.yahoo.com/news/10-best-super-mario-games-221100861.html

  8. What a great topic. The best game I ever played would be SMB3 (Super Mario Bros. 3). It gave me and continues to give me countless hours of fun when either being stationed in one shit hole after another or finally being back home. The game never gets old and I still play it to this day. I actually try to beat some of the world records... but my reaction time will never compare to the elite gamer's. The worst game is a toughie. I have played tons of crappy games in my life and if I had to say the worst it would be Karate on the Atari 2600. What a horrific "game". It is basically non-playable as the controller to input does not work at all. Runner ups for best game... Resident Evil 4 PS4, Defender arcade, 720 arcade, and Star Wars arcade.
  9. Heavy sixer all day long, and a very nice one at that.

    The Stacks

Big fan of the movie? Read the book... it has almost NOTHING to do with the movie at all and if you grew up in the 80's it will hook you almost immediately. The book is my personal favorite of all time.
  11. Kind of interesting story on early consoles. Some of the story is not true/not verifiable, but still an interesting read  https://www.yahoo.com/news/nintendo-atari-black-engineer-changed-090805949.html

I understand Black Awareness month and all, but I feel that Marty Lipper's comment about Ed Smith who may have been "number 2" is adequate in the context:

"The man was an engineer, and he knew his business. When we interviewed him, he was a decent guy, and that’s all I cared about."

A few significant errors there, IMHO. This guy was not responsible for "literally creating an industry bigger than the movie industry". If you had to give that responsibility to anyone, it would be Ralph Baer. And the Channel F was not "the first video game console with interchangeable game cartridges".  That honour also goes to the Magnavox Odyssey - designed by Ralph. The article specifically states the Odyssey did not use interchangeable cartridges, but I have a dozen or so of them sitting right here, so there's that.  Yes, they were just circuits that rewired the console's electronics - but they were plug-in-game-cartridges nonetheless.

  13. So odd to read keatah's comments. It is almost like he/she is trying to torpedo your sales with all the emulation talk...why?

Why doesn't he just play the games (under properly supervised circumstances) and re-establish his old records in a way that doesn't leave any questions?

This is worse than when George Costanza tried to keep the Frogger machine powered while he took it to his apartment.

I saw this earlier this morning and meant to come check if someone had posted about it.  I guess I cared so little that I forgot - LOL

I was expecting to hear that the game variant was somehow rare, but the article doesn't say that.  It just says that a sealed Kid Icarus is a rare find.  So the price is potentially high because of the seal . . .

I'll bet it sells for some serious coin.   But wouldn't it be funny if it sold for $38.45?

    2600 stuff

I am looking to buy 2 controllers, a paddle set, and Adventure. Obviously I want everything to work. Shipping to 97006. I pay by Paypal. I am hoping someone has all this, as I do not really want to do a bunch of different transactions.
  15. I have been playing 7 DTD since alpha 6 or 7 or maybe 8 and truly love it. Since alpha 16 has been around for 13 months or so I have been building and exploring and have never seen that sign. Nice catch though. I can't wait til A17 comes out, the graphics seem to be pretty good. Lets just hope the mini-bike and all the new vehicles don't randomly disappear on this version.
  16. Rampage and the ridiculous Donkey Kong 3. Donkey Kong 3 is horrific and WAY too easy. It also has nothing to do with Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong jr.
