  1. Nope, no 2600 games, but at the time for some owners of machines that couldn't boot from floppies (machines with 16k or less of RAM installed) it was a boon because a lot of popular games that heretofore had been floppy only were converted to cartridge format. Many games that were popular on the 2600 were converted to run on the 400/800 anyway and look better. The only game machine that ran 2600 games natively in addition to it's own games was the 7800. The 5200 could do it with an expansion module.
  2. I don't think it looks up to the level of an NES or 7800. I'm not sure I'd even compare it favorably to a 5200 or Colecovision.
  3. Ok I bought a copy but I just want to be sure that the shipping charge will cover going to USA before paying. I sent an email through ebay but as I said before I don't understand Polish so I'm not really sure I did it correctly. I think I did. I hope I didn't accidentally send ebay a complaint. LoL. And send mine unboxed with the box flattened to avoid damage. Thanks. (What's the exchange rate of Polish Zlotych to USD anyway?)
  4. The 1400's don't show up nearly as often as they used to. Neither does the 1090 expansion box. The people who have them seem to be keeping them. I just managed to snag a ATR8000 which has been an object of lust since they were first released and I hadn't seen one of those in years. Speaking of third party stuff, an APE face would be good to have and the MPP modems that plug into the joystick ports still surface on occasion as do Indus, Percom, and Rana drives. There was a Trak ATD2 I remember from not too long ago but those aren't nearly as common. The SX212 modem still seems to be pretty available. I'd go for one of those before they start disappearing. The XE printers might also be a good thing to get because they seem to come up a lot more often than the 8xx and 10xx series printers.
  5. I'm trying to locate a VisionTek Xtasy Radeon 9100 PCI. I can find plenty in AGP but not PCI and I know they were made. It has to be the Visiontek Xtasy and not some other brand. I have a reason for wanting this particular model. If anyone has one they would be willing to part for not a lot of money and will take Paypal please let me know.
  6. Nope - nor 300 baud modems. I love my little Atari, but with 60K/sec disc transfers and 9600 baud modems I have no patience for such stuff. I often load from cassette when I'm testing tapes before creating .cas images. The tones from the TV take me right back to my childhood when I used to sit patiently and wait 20 minutes for Bounty Bob Strikes Back to load from tape. Err, yeah thinking about it I'm with you Stephen The first game I ever got for the 8 bit was Salmon Run on cassette. I later also got Legionnaire on cassette. It's not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be.
  7. If this works out some of us can stop using our old Commodore 1702 monitors with our Atari's. Have you tried it with an SM124 yet? It might work out better to use the monochrome for apps and the color for games just like it was intended on the ST.
  8. There's none left on ebay and I don't understand Polish. Are there any left that I could get directly? Do you take Paypal?
  9. A) I have managed to make some shipped transactions happen via Craigslist by just being honest, pleasant and prompt with payment. B) Even though some prices may be high on Craigslist, you at least have the freedom to make offers or even suggest trades (which I have done). In fact I just traded a couple old DVDs for a VIC-20, some games and a tape drive... There was a price, but he was open to trading instead and considering these DVDs were in a box to be traded/sold anyway, it worked out very well for me! I tried that to get a video card out of the hands of a guy in Denver (I live in New Jersey) and he wouldn't hear of it. He wanted cash in hand and he wanted someone to come pick it up. No Paypal and no shipping and it was only for $15 bucks. Geez. It's not like he's trusting me for thousands of dollars in merchandise. I even offered to give him my ebay id so he could verify that I was a trustworthy buyer.
  10. The whole vintage computing/video game scene has gone nuts in the last few years. Stuff that you couldn't give away before now commands ridiculous prices. It's getting harder and harder to buy anything on the cheap anymore.
  11. If it's in such bad condition as you say I'd sell it for whatever someone is willing to pay and then save up the difference and buy a working one. I personally don't like keeping broken stuff in my collection if I can avoid it. If I can't use it then it is just taking up space that could be used for something that actually works is how I look at it.
  12. I recently got my hands on a ATR8000 and wondered if I could use my Corvus drives with it? I can't find a Corvus interface anywhere. I almost had one once a few years ago but negotiations with the owner kind of failed when he wanted to backup his Corvus drives first but no longer had the means to do so himself (had been out of the Atari scene for a long time and no longer had access to an Atari computer). I wasn't going to pay him to ship his Corvus drives to me for backing up and then back to him (those things are massive)and neither was he so the deal fell apart. I still kick myself for letting that one get away but the expense (it would have added hundreds of dollars in round trip shipping charges to the price)truly would have put the cost way out of my budget at the time. If I can't use them with the ATR8000 and someone has a Corvus interface that they would be willing to part with without any expensive strings attached, please let me know.
  13. Why not release a minimalist version and a fully loaded version? That way those with lesser budgets can try it out while those who can afford to pay more can get the version with more bling. They will both still share a lot of common components, so you'll still realize some economies of scale on those parts. I find that with a lot of these classic gaming/computing projects that they tend to go overboard one way or the other and end up alienating a lot of potential buyers by being either too minimalist or too expensive. By making two versions you can satisfy a larger segment of the market.
  14. Yeah, I've kinda noticed an air of xenophobia whenever I visit sheltered communities like the Amish. They don't want to be tainted by outside influences and the less contact they have with outsiders the better. Even overhearing something you say while you're shopping that goes against their beliefs can influence them so they would prefer, as you say, that you just buy what you want and leave as quickly as possible taking all your evil influences with you.
  15. MAC/65 for sure. The Atari Assembler Editor is very basic, MAC/65 is a premium and highly sough after macro assembler for the 8-bit Atari. All of OSS programming tools are highly sought after, really, so don't expect to get any of them cheaply. They are very powerful tools that address the shortcomings of Atari's own programming tools which was why the company was founded in the first place.
