  1. Thanks for saving non-english information. So much is lost. Rick D.
  2. Games Computers Play was a lot of fun for a bit. Running around town, going into stores and places, playing games, messaging, don't remember if there was chat. But, the LD cost kept me from doing much. To start resurrecting the system, you'd need to replace a modem driver with a null modem one, that pretends to connect to tymnet, then the server. Any computer would be fast enough to handle a new server for this, unless you want to add multi user via the internet to make it more fun. I don't remember log in. But most of the environment is on 4 floppies. The link on atarimania is only for the Lords of Space game.(correction below) Rick D.
  3. The "edge connector" is probably for the cartridge and pbi. For the keyboard, Best Electronics catalog pg.193....CO61793 Vert PC Mount connector...$3.50. Rick D.
  4. Xls only test most of lower 64K and rom. They do not know anything about expanded memory. Rick D.

    I need you

My Lynx 1 is Type "B" label. But the buttons are black. Texas, USA. Rick D.
  6. An answer will have to wait until I start going thru the disks. Rick D.
  7. Hi, Looks like I have a couple of those items. But you are right. Just shipping 20 pounds now costs $100.00. Rick D.
  8. We'd visit the Atariville store whenever we would go to San Antonio. An ex employee started/caused the fire. They had to clean it up, pull software and docs to shrinkwrap. later close the store and move it all to Boerne. I bought several K$ of stuff for several H$. The ST stuff was sold to a different store. I ended up getting the rest of the 8 bit and 2600 Atariville stuff a year or so later from Russell. This is where a lot of my current clearance stock came from. Rick D.
  9. Sadly, no. They require a hack saw. And then get taped together Rick
  10. It can easily be the fuse in the ac supply has blown. Otherwise they are very robust. Either replace it, or cut it open at the seam, carefully. Usually once opened, a fuse holder is put in the case for future ease. Rick D.
  11. The magazine Name is first. Under that are the months of the year(or season), plus one for special issue. To the right of each month is the year(#=quantity available) and then any notes such as issue number/torn/disk is with it, repeats for each year/notes, continues to multiple rows. Then next magazine. Rick D.
  12. You wrote.... >What was the best cpu for atari 400 800 etc. thinking maybe the 800??? They all used some variation of the 6502 cpu. If you mean which COMPUTER was the best, it depends on the application. Everyone has their favorite(s). >was the 400 and 800 games, compatiable with each other? The entire line of atari 8 bit computers, 400 thru XEGS, were 99% hardware/software/game compatable. >what can u do on those cpu. could u write atari games on them?? LOL Can they even get hook up to the net? Anything you can imagine, in some form. There were a couple of dozen languages, equal to anything on any other platform, some better. Many people connect their 8 bit ataris to the internet every day. There are various ways to do this. Super way is serial port connected to a Lantronix serial to ethernet adapter. >do they have modern memory upgrade, besides 64k, can they even handle ..lets say 1 gig if thats all possible 1 Gig can be done if you want to spend the time and money to do it. But for the A8 its over kill. Most of it would be a ramdisk(hanging from the pbi port), not main memory. Most upgrades go to 256K or 1 meg. In general, 16 megs is the maximum. Simm is the most modern in common use. But flash ram is there in some form. Rick D.
  13. My sio spider has no switching, just up to 4 sio jacks, and/or 5 cables. The DB 25 is just for the 19.2K serial adapters I do. Other stuff will show up in the future. Rick D.
  14. I'd like to see more Alternate Reality episodes. I really like Planetfall and Stationfall....don't know if there was to be a third. Rick D.
  15. The color trimpot is just a resistor film with a contact. Over the years, tarnish will get between them. So, note where the pointer is, then turn the control to each side a few times, then put back where it was originally. Can fix many color flicker problems with only a little tweaking. Rick D.
  16. The magazine list is now uploaded. http://morethangames.a8maestro.com/proda8/sale-mag.htm Rick D.
  17. I know the Antics are at least digitized, don't remember if in .pdf. More than a year ago, I emailed the contact for helping on getting the Analog magazines digitized, but never received a reply. They are no where near done.
  18. Art this point in time, I don't have exacts. Libraries, magazine disks, pd collections, import disks. I also downloaded a lot of files from Delphi, Genie, and Compuserve. Besides disks and hard drive file, I have a six or so cartons of disks. When the current dust settles, I will be able to see what I have. The response so far is good enough to keep it all. Thanks to all who replied. Rick D. You can also search by license on our site. Rick, can you tell us what you have exactly? -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
  19. Hi, icbrkr(transaction shipped), darthkur(reply bounced, resent other email), kamakazi(no reply yet)...replied to all on sep 11th. Problem isn't my mail is slow. No slower than anyone elses. I have a life outside the atari niche(which is small enough now to slow things down). I send replies to people, and they go "oooppps, forgot" and reply a week or two later. Sometimes, I get the mail bounced back a week or two later and have to reply again with a different email. Just posting on any forum is not enough to get my attention quickly. Rick D.
  20. While going through all of this stuff, I have a lot of disks that are user group library collections and many magazine disks. Is the software on these disks something that should be saved? Has it been already? Rick D.

  22. I have updated the sale pages for more stuff found as I clear out the rooms(and stuff remaining from old sale). The link is: http://morethangames.a8maestro.com/proda8/sale-a8b.htm. Thanks, Rick D.
  23. Well, I did sent a reply to you directly through a post, but there was no record of it. Something I will never do again. I have aa email pms in my sent box for marc: Aug 26, 28, 30(decided shipping to high, will wait for ebay), and for alexander(who included you in his pm): sep2 and 5(decided european shipping to high). How did you try to contact me other than one post in the forum? I don't see a direct pm. If its a post here anywhere but the 8 bit computer forum, it can take a few weeks for me to get back to it. Rick D.
  24. I can probably come up with a list of San Antonio User group(AAAUA) members. There may be some still using their stuff. Haven't heard from any of them in many years. Rick D.
  25. The upgrades/mods are technically NOT necessary. It depends on what you want to do. Playing games is fine with 64K, even less for carts. The 128K XE has kinda of become the standard for ram. But for more serious use, 256K is the minimum I like to have. Some hardware and mods are required if you still want to use the atari in the external world. Everything else is just creating a way to make more stuff available in a more modern form(less like to die permenantly) or doing new, fun things. 99% of the software is fine with 88K disks. Software should at least support the original specs, using extra ram and disk when available, even if its a seperate, enhanced version. Some more serious apps will use what ever capacity is available. But specialized hardware and software existed even when Atari was still making the 8 bit line. Its a hobby. One either sticks with the original product, or pushes the hobby to the extreme. Most do both. I make 58 items. I have 10 or so more in the works. I do it for FUN. I like them. I use many of them. I will create more for as long as I can. I tend to stay away from making something that someone else already does. Unless my version has significant advantages to me. The downside to being in a niche hobby like this, is I have reached a point where some things are not fun any more. Such as the excess atari stuff I have amassed over the last couple of decades. I want the space back now. Some things will never happen. So the stuff must go. Rick D.
