  1. I think Keatah just gave me my best guess yet as to Ataribox's identity. WiFi enabled juicer... with video games! Now you finally know why a juicer needs WiFi.
  2. A buddy on another forum found this article. https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/wonder-smartphone-startup-news/ Sounds like this device might do virtual reality, and more importantly, did I just see the name "Kevin Spacey"? Yeah, um, I'm a bit too easily impressed. >_>
  3. Look out, Ataribox! Bushnell and Wonder are out to steal your thunder. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-06-28-wonder-raises-USD14-million-for-smartphone-console-hybrid

Who the hell is Shakira?! And what's with all these freaky imaginary overhyped console / smartphone / handheld hybrids?

jaybird, to answer your first question...

      You're welcome.

  4. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-06-28-wonder-raises-USD14-million-for-smartphone-console-hybrid Found this while googling Atari. Apparently Bushnell decided it was worth putting money behind, as did a certain Latina pop star. Plus we already know more about it than Ataribox. Consider my interest piqued.
  5. New Atari press release from the GlobeNewswire. http://inpublic.globenewswire.com/releaseDetails.faces?rId=2116347 Doesn't say much, but under hardware plans, it notes both continued work on Ataribox and work on an audio connected device for release in fall 2017. I dunno, I'm just going off machine translation. Anyone here parlez vous francais?
  6. E.T. and Pac-Man??? Quality overload! (Seriously though, this post reminds me that carts and boxes are half the fun of Atari games. Poor Steam users are missing out.)
  7. Now ya might be gettin' into overkill territory...
  8. Atari and Mattel partner to promote Mattel brands through Roller Coaster Tycoon Touch. Where was this partnership thirty years ago when IntellAtari would've rocked all our faces?

  9. 25 years from now: Ataribox Mini

The twist: Ataribox is Jaguar Mini, and Ataribox Mini will be Jaguar Micro.

  10. I wanna try to quit talking about Ataribox until we have actual info, but my condition I keep referring to leaves me at home everyday without much to do, and I end up like this. I'm good enough at programming to make almost any 2D game I can think of, but I always end up wasting my time on internet forums instead. I used to be better than this. People like the current combination of medications I'm on because I actually can hold a conversation in real life now, but I'm finding it difficult to do anything but converse and would really like to try something different. But enough about me... Atari, get some info in here already, darnit.
  11. I actually have a new guess I just came up with. I know that Atari signed a deal to make a game show premiering in the fall. Is Ataribox's value add meant to be a way to interact with that and other television programs?
  12. Ouch, double shot to the hype. Okay, to be more specific, you did say it goes in an entertainment center, and it will play some type of games. Pretty sure about those two this time. The mystery deepens...
  13. Ouch. My poor hype. You did say it is a console that plays new games though. If development is open, I'll be on board.
  14. @thanatos Anyone made a good offer on your Pandora yet? I kinda linked the Pyra forums to your post about your Pandora a few days ago. Thought maybe I could help it find a good home.
  15. Hidden Vita gems, you say? One of the best things about Vita was having a lot of PC indie favorites in portable form, since 3DS didn't have the horsepower for them, but now Switch seems to be delivering in that area. It's also a great PSP and PSX machine, in case you missed out on gems from those. The best thing about it for me though is probably being a portable Disgaea machine, which Switch also seems to be taking over from it. My recs: PSP/PSX Persona 3 Portable Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC Final Fantasy VII Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Retail Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited Demon Gaze Final Fantasy X HD Zero Escape: The Nonary Games Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma Trillion: God of Destruction Persona 4 Golden Steins;Gate Download Only Axiom Verge Bastion Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Crypt of the Necrodancer Darkest Dungeon Fez Guacamelee! Mystery Chronicle: One Way Heroics Rogue Legacy Shovel Knight Spelunky Super Meat Boy The Swapper Shantae: Half Genie Hero Terraria Talk about thread derailment...
  16. Man, is it bad that I knew what the DSM was without looking it up?
  17. I still plan on making all the games for Ataribox if development is open and it plays normal games. Prepare your faces for such marvelous titles as "Juiced! Baseball 2018", "Lobster Zombie Apocalypse", and "Butt the Butt".
  18. French press release says Ataribox will be crowdfunded. In other news, an ominous cloud of doom has appeared above Atari headquarters.

    1. jaybird3rd

      jaybird3rd

Why crowdfunding? Doesn't the company masquerading as "Atari" have an R&D budget? Was crowdfunding ever meant to be an excuse for an established business to be lazy and offload all the expense of market research and new product development onto their customers?

While it wasn't -meant- to be that, shareholders and the like quickly realized the potential for it and ran with it.

  19. Crowdfunding... So, at best, Ouya 2.0, and at worst, Atari Chameleon? I mean, I want to be hyped, but damn Atari, you're making it hard to be hyped. Still curious about that value add Bill mentioned, at least.
  20. I think the good thing about Pyra is that you can track the whole development process through ED's posts on the Pyra forums. He's already assembled seven of the bad boys, so um, only 1000 and change to go. You can do it, ED!
  21. I just noticed it's Punisher's birthday, he's a great moderator, and he never received the Pandora he wanted. thanatos, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Actually, I wouldn't blame you for auctioning it, Pandoras have a following that make them more valuable than you might think.
  22. Oh man, I would be interested in that Pandora, but my current money is all being saved toward new living room furniture. :-(
  23. Someone here linked that same press release as posted on Sigfox's website earlier, either in this thread or another. I gotta admit, I don't remember it being so detailed though. The parts about using IoT to expand the interactive environment and bring a new dimension to gaming really get my imagination going.
  24. My biggest Atari sin is probably just that the only Atari I've actually had is my dad's 2600. No 8-bit, no 7800, no Jaguar nor Lynx. I feel like such a poser on here. That said, I also enjoyed 2600 Pac-Man, and even once programmed a demo recreation of it for Sega Genesis using Devster's BasiEgaXorz tool. Okay, yeah, that might be the bigger sin...
  25. I believe it was confirmed to release for PS4 in August a few days ago, with the After Dark expansion included. Don't quite feel like looking it up, sorry.
