PM me if you want to test out a game for me on a real system. My system is out on loan to someone.

Ature - action adventure cart for the Atari 2600
yuppicide replied to yuppicide's topic in Homebrew Discussion
Keep an eye. I'll update this thread as soon as I hear from my friend to know what date we'll be there. Next year I plan on preparing in advance more often and releasing a few games as well as some of my classic game artwork. If you see me with either the wood cartridge or Ature on the table come say hi. I'm thinking since Dig Dug is being released for NES I might wear my purple Dig Dug shirt, but who knows what I'll wear in the end. -
Ature - action adventure cart for the Atari 2600
yuppicide replied to yuppicide's topic in Homebrew Discussion
I am only limited by the money in my pocket lol since I need to pay bills and stuff. Had I started work earlier I could have afforded to get more made. So, my 15 has nothing to do with Dig Dug's 15. I just added how much it costs to produce, looked at how much money I had, and there I was. I might also have my Skull Island prototype wood cartridge on display. Will also have some stuff for sale. I think my friend is bringing just about every Nintendo Power and I have some game systems. -
Thought I'd cross post this here for exposure of a homebrew being released at a show next month.. hope that is okay: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/180760-ature-action-adventure-cart-for-the-atari-2600/page__view__findpost__p__2262858

Ature is an action adventure game for the Atari 2600 being released at TooManyGames in limited edition. There will only be 15 copies made, one of which is being given away at the show. The game comes in a special box that's only being made for the show, along with instruction manuals and labels of course. They all say TooManyGames on them and are hand numbered. The boxes are modeled after a style called "Taiwan Cooper" which you can see more of them in the AtariAge database here: http://www.atariage.com/label_page.html?LabelID=109 Here's some prototype pictures of the box. Here's the front/side: Here's the back, complete with unnecessary dashes and a misspelled word just like it came from Taiwan: The game was made by Beoran. You can see more screen shots as well as download a full playable game here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/165701-ature-my-homebrew-action-adventure-game-for-atari-2600/page__view__findpost__p__2046761 This game is NTSC only. Don't PM me to purchase a copy here, as you can only get these at the show. In the future we may release the game as cartridge and label only at a reduced cost if people are interested. Please note: I can only attend the show either Saturday or Sunday. Once my friend gets back to me on which day is better for him I will update everyone with my status both here and via the TooManyGames website.

EDIT: FUCK! That doesn't work! I must have first registered the game by playing on PS3 then linking the accounts! Portal 2 for PC costs $49.99. For the PS3 it's $59.99, but you get a free downloadable copy for PC from Steam!! You can then turn around and trade the PS3 version back in to GameStop for $24 in credit like I am doing to get another game, or you could just sell it online to lessen the cost you paid.

I'm doing 15 limited edition copies. How many copies? I have worked in the printing business for years and can get you an "AA" discounted price quote! Price always depends on volume tho! BTW: I'm in NJ as well

I purposely inserted unnecessary - dash's on the back of the box and purposely misspelled a word on mine.

Thanks. I'm gonna make a manual anyway.. lookin around for places to print me an 8 page manual.
-
While I am on the subject also.. does anyone have dimensions of a manual? I'm looking around for places to print them up for me. I need to design and print this week hopefully.
-
Did the Taiwan Cooper games have manuals with them? If so, does anyone have a scan of a manual? I'm releasing a game early next month at the TooManyGames convention. I made boxes in a Taiwan Cooper style, so I figured maybe I'll make the manuals in the same style.. only I can't find any in the database. If I can't find any soon I'll just make my own design.

I would think they all seem reliable, but some seem more compatible than others. I would never get an Atari 2600 Jr.

Just so you guys know I am still alive, and around, just not very much right now. I'll try to have a status update soon. I can say this for now, if anyone is going to the TooManyGames convention next month I !might! have the wood prototype with me to show off to people. The wood carver said he needs it for now to get whatever he needs, but then I am free to take it to the show. I'll have a different game for sale as well that's limited edition. I'm making 15 limited edition versions specially for the show in special show only boxes with manuals. one copy is going to be given away at the show for free.. not sure what they're doing exactly. I'll probably keep one copy and give one to someone on here. The rest will be sold.

Rob emailed people on his list. I voted for Demon Attack. I think some of the games on that list stink. Everyone has their own opinions I guess. Adventure for sure. I'm eagerly awaiting Warren Robinett's unpublished manuscript on the making of Adventure!

Maybe I missed it, but how many levels will this have? They look so pretty.
-
I got it for Christmas when it first came out. I played a lot of Gyromite, but I don't think I'd be interested in homebrews and I'll tell you why. I played Gyromite without the robot.. just used my hands. I really just wanted to see all the levels. Has anyone mapped them all out? How many are there?

I have NEVER heard a Midi song that sounds good! I'd be very interested if there's a way to take a second of an mp3, dumb it down, and get it into TIA. Just little section of a song.. for example a riff out of my friends band.

That looks AMAZING! Great work!

This game looks quite doable also.. it's a game where your space bar is the key: http://armorgames.com/play/10912/space-is-key

EDIT: Solved. Marc helped me! Many thanks!

There's scans of the front and back of a Taiwan Cooper style box. What's on the sides, top and bottom flaps, though? I'm doing a box design similar to those and don't know what to write on the sides.. just the name? Are those colored bars continued on the sides too? Is anything written on top or bottom flap?

It's flash. You only need to left click in the game window to make it the focus. Once that happens you can use the arrow keys to scroll your little character.
-
Maybe with the new DPC we can get some sort of PRINT add-on? I know there's a title screen, but what about just printing text whenever we want with little or no effort?
-
That is REALLY nice looking!
