  1. Sets of CV product sheets such as these turn up on eBay a few times each year ... though locating the listings is most often a chore. Multiple sets within a single listing is something I haven't seen before, though.

    WOW!

I'm pretty sure he picked up three in the past year, but more-or-less didn't get what he wanted with two of them (condition not as stated, all-in-all). His ~$700 bid on this one is about right for him, and given the past amounts he's bid on this particular item. So, I think he's still hunting for one sealed in good condition. (Then again, he picks up multiples of a lot of things at a premium, so maybe he's just looking to add another one.)
  3. Although, in this batch, at least one item kicked around eBay quite a bit without any takers at its past open; it came down in price at long last. Time and patience on the part of fellow eBayers is all that's required for reasonable pricing to appear.
  4. But that Destructor looks like it has the pox. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8734613089
  5. ...and Lord of the Dungeon, and Alcazar (though neither as readily available as Apshai).
  6. I enjoy using the ergosticks that I own. I have noticed the occasional lack of responsiveness noted above, though.
  7. I wouldn't extrapolate from this auction to loose cart transactions in general. I haven't seen the across-the-board drop in valuation on loose carts that you mention at all. Star Wars is a rather poor marker cart from which to draw any conclusion. It's really not that hard to obtain, and when it spikes, it usually spikes on "name brand" recognition and not much else. $6+ (remember to include shipping) is not an outstandingly "off" amount for this cart. While it is true that homebrews seem to keep climbing in terms of eBay pricing, it looks as though CIB pricing has leveled off compared to where things were at the start of the boxed frenzy that has gripped eBay. I think some correlation can be drawn to a reduction in the number of bids placed by overseas bidders -- a handful of persistent regulars are still around to drive particular titles into the stratosphere, but for the most part, that population isn't bidding on as many items as they were six months to a year ago.
  8. ...and sometimes it's legitimate to bid under a round number like $100 to avoid tripping a reserve too soon or to determine whether another proxy bid has been placed on a round amount or not in order to aid a decision to press forward with an amount over a round bid. I wouldn't get too hung up on people bidding slightly under round numbers. Most instance of shilling are evidenced by other factors, and a lot of times provable shilling (after the fact) will demonstrate shill bids placed on round amounts as often as not. In other words, absent any other indication, the amount of a bid placement doesn't really communicate much.
  9. There have been quite a few CV Star Wars on eBay lately. This one underperformed, but in all honesty, it's not really a difficult title to obtain. It went for over $6 including shipping, which may be low, but isn't abyssmal for this particular game.
  10. Box opened. Box in above-average, but worn condition. Wear on Donkey Kong cart. Where's the service contact label on the console? Don't believe this to be "new" by any stretch. Certainly not $300 worth here. (True, unopened ColecoVisions are easily $300 items, though.)
  11. Looks like the seller (not eBay) ended the auction ...
  12. Odd that this is not the story the seller told to me directly when asked about the original cancellation. I'm sorry, but I have to call BS. I made reference to as much earlier. There were three retractions, one of which was clearly in response to "williamjm77" spiking the price (who exercised the other two). There is some evidence supporting the view that "williamjm77" is also the seller, "celica1995". If so, it would explain the hidden logic behind the seller's explanation post-close.
  13. Yeah, that would be this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8232910375 Flipped with about a day left to this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8233953117 The seller decided to cancel all bids and take the $100 offer (who knows when Sean made it) instead of letting the auction run the remaining day ... in large part due to the thrill-bidding of "williamjm77". Stupid, stupid seller. Terribly unfair offer made by Sean given the lot contents. When will sellers learn that people nearly always make outside offers because they simply don't want to compete against others in the bidding? Sean and the seller get a few points (but not many) for the relist for legitimacy and so that eBay gets its cut, but had someone gotten in there ahead of Sean during the three-minute listing window ... that would have been priceless.
  14. It's only been "worth" above $100 the last eighteen months or so. There has been a rather incredible spike on early homebrews in that time on eBay. But yes, these days it seems that CV homebrews have appreciated in value greatly, and I haven't seen any tail-off in valuation yet.
  15. You might want to edit "tomorrow night" to "October 26, 2005" for people like me who have to think twice about when you posted the message and what that would make tomorrow (esp. on the thread starter, which is dated October 22).
  16. Let me try to dig them out tomorrow. If you don't hear back in-thread, PM me ... I tend to get distracted by other tasks.
  17. I have a pile of C64 programming books (or, I should) ... any particular titles, or just anything?
  18. For those who seek it, one should definitely get more than $1 for the "ColecoVision/ADAM" label variation of Donkey Kong. It really isn't all that common, and I've seen it fetch around $6 in the past. It's not the rarest label variation for DK for North America, but it is the easiest to spot.

Please post pic unless you've already made arrangements for this game.
  20. From the moment it was listed, it had "ended early due to error in listing" written all over it...
  21. Ends tomorrow, not mine, in a lot, and naturally unpictured: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8220175987
  22. Yes, he's racking up the withdrawals. Really not surprising glancing through some of the feedback remarks. Those grainy pictures matched against excessive use of the word "excellent" to describe his items don't seem to work out so well in a number of cases. He's better than most PowerSellers, but I've found that as his volume of sales has grown, Adam has gotten a bit more slipshod with his listings and quality control. Never sold anything to him directly, but I have known him (from relistings and asking those sellers) to back out of transactions after-the-fact a couple of times on large® lots, though not in the last six months or so.
  23. I'm not surprised at the spamming, either. I've nothing against resellers, I've bought an occasional item from Adam in the past, but the auction hyping here is pretty much in line with the few interactions I've had with him.
  24. This thread is worth the price of admission for the "Similar Threads" ... "Worst Kevin Costner Movie?" LMAO
