It wouldn't be a surprise should Google move toward developing a web portal akin to Yahoo! Pieces are already there, but is that the road Google really wants to head down? However, for any auction site to compete on equal terms with eBay, regardless of backing, it would have to draw an audience of eBay-like proportions to interest sellers -- or it'll become yet another fringe player. I just don't see that happening overnight.

MicroLeague Baseball rocked! Well, until the final, final release, which pretty much sucked (at that point, C64 was long gone and it had migrated to PC hardware). Always wondered about MicroLeague Basketball... I agree w/ video game addict that this lot is likely quite overpriced. I think it all comes down to the title mix, and that's some serious responsibility taking on so much stuff ... with 1/3rd of it being early PC software (which has its gems, but is mostly garbage), I'd be a little leary.

This lot hasn't climbed much: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8199439572

That's a rather oblique (and lengthy) response. My point is rather simple: Lost an auction? Move on. It'll come up again. And again. And again. Grousing that someone paid more than you (regardless of when he/she chose to outbid) does not accomplish much at all.
-
No, the best defense is to bid what you believe an item to be worth to you, and simply let go and move on should someone outbid you. The percentage of items that won't turn up again from another eBay seller is far too small for one to dwell upon the typical auction loss well after the fact.
-
Regardless of what you all suspect might be going on here ... isn't placing a bid that you don't intend to honor pretty much crossing the line? Let alone gloating about it?

Reading this thread is like watching the X-Files. Everywhere you turn, there seems to be another budding conspiracy...

I would assume yes, and that the seller is fishing for a reserve-chaser.

ColecoVision Space Invaders Collection - Gone!

Silly, silly price. Anyone want to buy mine for $250? -
Hilarious. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8194724770

The BIN actually made me laugh.

Well, if anyone here can point me to a definitive description and/or picture of the manual that matches the heavy sixer, I can leaf through the manual variants I do have ... I just don't know what I'm looking for exactly (heavy sixer arcana isn't my strong suit). So, anyone? Bueller ... Bueller ... Bueller?
-
What does the manual for the Heavy Sixer look like exactly? I may or may not have a spare... I must have six to eight variations of the Atari 2600 console manual on hand, but I'm not sure which is for the "true" Heavy Sixer. It's always bugged me.

What about it? The above-mentioned prices were for just the cart, not complete in box. Last year, there was only one CN/AD complete listed on eBay (to my knowledge). Draw your own conclusions ... ?
-
I'll then make that claim for my own collection. I believe that Will Berdan could probably also make that claim. I'd actually peg it at $60 in the best of circumstances these days, with $40 as the minimum -- though from how I've seen it perform on eBay the last couple years, if I were selling one, I wouldn't count on the $60 end of that scale.

If the DP has SL/RH at R6, they're just plain wrong. I've actually seen slightly more copies of Tomarc/Motocross than Lancelot/Hood in the past few years. Checking the DP online rarity guide, I see that Lancelot/Hood is rated R9 along with Tomarc/Motocross ... which pretty much matches up with my personal experience. Don't mean to be a booster, but an R6 it's not.
-
There were *three* (not two, or one, as has been indicated above) XonoX double-enders released for the ColecoVision. Two of the three (Lancelot/R.Hood and Tomarc/Motocross) are absurdly hard to find, and are in all likelihood the two rarest "regular release" titles for the CV. In a "good" year, you're likely to run across two or so copies of either, at most. DigitPress puts values on them in the $150 ballpark, but by my estimation, that is actually a bit low for either in decent shape. $150 for Lancelot/R.Hood in sound state? As far as I'm concerned, that would be a no-brainer buy. I can say with certainty that this isn't the most a copy of this game has fetched on eBay by any stretch. Given bidder interest in this particular auction, it's clearly hanging out in the neighborhood of $125, at the least. I would also add that it's nowhere near the high-water mark for a single-game ColecoVision sale in the past few years on eBay. Heck, a pair of CGE Atarisoft rereleases just went for ~$175 each last weekend...
-
Perhaps, but apparently they aren't so far off Nintendo's radar that the big N isn't requesting eBay to police them rather heavily. The ROM-buddies *are* more annoying, but I think making the argument that the legality of an item depends on who was responsible for the manufacture is a bit of a stretch.

On the other hand, he knowingly listed an item that is known to draw down eBay's ire ... you can fault the corp. for dragging its feet in bringing others to justice, but I don't think you can blame them for enforcing a standing policy.
-
I've got one, though I don't believe I'm willing to part with it just yet. It's not exactly awe-inspiring up close and in person, apart from what it does.
-
Not yet. I give him a run through this weekend before he lets up and begins relisting activities.
-
I pointed it out because I've seen several of the cart-only auctions sell for (in my opinion) "silly money" and figured someone here was a silly-money type.

Not mine. Is it ever? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=8193592384

Good buy - Polaris in a lot for less than $22
mumbai replied to thecolecokid's topic in Auction Central
A reseller he be, arrrrr! And one who was strangely absent for a while on the purchasing end. He usually cartwheels through for about a month buying lots and lots, then sells it all off, then starts up the cycle again. I had wondered what had happened to him, he had pretty much cycled-down on selling a while back and didn't start in with the buying as usual. Polaris for $25-$30? All the ones I've ever bid on in the past never reached so high all by their lonesome. (Adam) Topol will resell that one in about a month with a $0.99 open, unless he's changed his spots.
