Do you have any sweet box art pics for this cart yet?
-
It depends what rom you use, as some just don't work at all. But when you use the SkunkGUI program like in my video it illustrates how to do it. You have to click which bank you want either 1 or 2 and select the ROM and then click the "is flash" box and it will erase the ROM on that bank (the black screen with yellow lines) and then it will flash the ROM and should start when it's done. If the ROM doesn't start at the end then turn the Jag off then back on and the screen will be green. Press up for bank 1 and down for bank 2. If doing an abs fine they don't have to be flashed to a bank it will just load them right up.Hmm so I get the green screen but I can't seem to get it to flash. When I click the button the thing that pops up to show progression just flashes for a second but nothing changes on the jaguar screen. Stays green. My computer does recognize it. Do I need to use an old PC? Right now I'm using a windows 10 pc. I tried compatibility mode.
ROMs I've never been able to get to work on the skunk are: Battlesphere, another world, frog feast/soccer kid combo.

You did a nice job explaining everything without dragging it out.
If I woulda saw your video earlier, I would have bought a skunk.....now I am just gonna wait for Saints' cart.
It was a tough decision but I just couldn't wait any longer for it. The skunk has been asking for me for well over a year.
-
I knoe it took 3 weeks to get mine as well from Poland. If you're bored in the meantime, here is a video I made last year about how to flash the thing when ti arrives. It's pretty easy once you have done it a few times but this explains it and shows how it's done.

I am not from Colorado but I wanted to visit a unique game store while I was in Denver so I looked online and found their store. The Alameda store is the one I went to. I asked the guy if they had Jaguar games and he told me that recently some had traded in his whole Jag collection, including Battlesphere, but that someone came in and bought it all. Small world man!
I thought that was a really cool store. I could have put myself in the poor house shopping there.
Level 7 is great, I scourer all their locations for all the jag games I needed when I was trying to acquire a complete set. Zero 5 was one of them and when they got that massive trade in I thought damn I need some of those! If ever down in the area definitely call around to all 3 locations, sometimes they shuffle stuff from one store ot another to get buyers that might not come to the other locations. All the stores have a good chunk of my $ that's for sure!
-
Did you get this at Level 7 games?
Yep. level 7 is my go to! I go to all 3 locations. The one off Alameda is where this trade in was. They always seem to get the best trades out of nowhere! The guy also traded in an original Battlesphere Gold too and an entire CIB Virtual Boy collection as well.
I bought my Jaguar CD from the Alameda location last March as well.

That still looks good. I wouldn't mind the one with the Jag CD on top of it. And one of the Sega CD/Genesis/32X combo ones
-
Have you paid Carl for his games yet?
Nope, got this one at my local game store on a trade in someone made back in 2017! Store got their money for it
Finally found the screen shot from back when it was posted took another shot and added it in. I got my Skyhammer, IS2, Missile Command, Zero 5, and Towers 2 from this lot when my local store got the huge trade in. They even got a Battlesphere with this trade in!-

I finally was able to beat this game after finding an invincibility code! Thank God. This game was super hard for me before that, I was never able to get past the first level.
This will be up there for me as one of the best Jaguar games, at least for the graphics. The gameplay itself is very repetitive tho, basically the same levels with new enemies added each time to make it longer. Probably could have been fine with 5 levels instead of 15.
Took me probably 3 hours of playing to beat all 15 levels even on easy mode with the invincibility code.

Having the CD capabilities will be pretty amazing for many of those out there who do not have access to one due to rarity and price. Luckily mine works just fine right now but they can be finnicky and with use may break down. Keep up the good work and this is still a promising project in the works. It'll be done when it's done. Seems like a lot of newby Jag owners jumping into the scene that will be able to benefit greatly from this cart once it is ready. Still good for the veterans who have been around the Jag for a long time as well.

Good choice on the skunk. it is a great item to have and mess around with. I think the demo's and unreleased things are the best reason to have that, otherwise you wouldn't be able to ever try them out on real hardware. Except for the SD cart whenever that actually get's finalized.

Pah! HDMI is for kids!
Real men keep it analog.

I tend to, but I'd like to see the Jag in all its HDMI glory! I do have a $13 amazon AV to HDMI converter that works damn well on one of the mancave TVS (65 plasma from 2010) and it looks great. But when I hook it up to any of the LED/LCD Tvs (I have 2 70-inch upstairs) they look like ass. Why the plasma looks better for the AV to HDMI converter I don;t know

I hope I'm not "the one guy" you're referring to.

You can use a program like DAEOMON Tools to mount the ISO and explore its contents. The j64 file is in the Jaguar folder.
haha actually yes you are "the one guy" I hadn't read who posted it (my cell phone wasn't scrolling up) But that's good info tho! I still need to look into my CD and see if that rom is there.
Disappointing that we never got Riven on Jaguar CD, but these games look like the next best thing. Can't wait to burn these CD's!
Riven would have been great! But probably like 4 CDs at least right?

this thing looks pretty awesome! Just needs an HDMI port on there

Fallen Angels for the Jaguar is one my the best homebrews IMO aside from Tube SE which is spectacular. Doctor Clu did some damn good work on these games!
Have to correct myself it's Dr Typo not Doctor Clu, but this will not let me edit my original post!

That video appears to be the whole game. Which bonus round are you talking about?
If you're talking about the "bacon" stage in the thumbnail, I have literally no idea how you could have avoided it.
"Bacon" stage? I have never heard of that name for the level. But I have played that level tho. I do agree how could that have ever been missed by the OP!

So can all these be purchased and run using a skunk board? Im still quite new to this. Thanks.
All of them are the CD iso so they would need to be burned to CDs and played on the Jag CD. But the one guy mentioned that apparently the CD iso for Alice's Mom's Rescue also includes the rom for the game, which could be played on the skunkboard. I didn;t even know that myself and haven't dived into the ISO to see if the ROM was actually there. I just put them all on CDs as I have the Jag CD. I was also able to buy brand new sealed versions of all 4 of the games so I just kept them in my shelf collection and bought the ISOS for use with playing them.

Oh snap an AV output from a Game Gear to a TV! Very sweet! I have 6 of these damn things, I should try to figure out how to do this to one of them.
-
Late to the party on this one but Skyhammer is my favorite Jaguar game and I would recommend getting that one all the way! Seems the majority of those who posted in this thread said the same thing. Seeing as Christmas has passed, what did you end up going with???
-
This was very helpful actually. I am trying to help out a local guy that got an untested Jaguar that will not power on, he has tested all the cables and everything apparently is fine but it will not power on. Likely it's that U38 chip then as madman linked to that one page. Very helpful and useful info!

I played the cart version of Flappy McFur and I think I made it past perhaps 5 pipes at best, and it is a hard game! What kept me going back is the attractive digital girl from the game haha!

That's pretty slick. Tho it is unfortunate you can't see the labels enough. I was never a fan of the curvy end labels but when you see games for other systems like the Genesis and can read the game at the top it's quite nice!
