  1. Damn, I just checked the back of mine. It only has the channel set 3-4 in place of that A-B so mine isn't a Japenese model then. For those of you using s-video since it wa smentioned above, do you fine s-video to look better than the AV cables on your CRT? I honestly couldn't tell the difference so I left mine with AV cables since I was out of s-video ports
  2. With a small kid to literally have limited time to play each game. I really need to learn the controls of each game before attempting! Sometimes I get 15 minutes here and there to try something before I have to move on. Some of the games I don't think save on the 3DO so it's kind of a flip and flop until I figure it out then when I have a good chunk of time I'll go back to it and try to finish it in a long play through if I can. So most of these even tho I've flipped and flopped a few times on them, I'll likely go back and eventually tackle and finish if I can but if I was interested in them from the start and some of them I just can't grasp to. As for "D" I love horror style games any horror game really. I just expected it to be faster like Resident Evil was but it was more of a Myst type game to me point and click to move forward and was slow. Definitely slower then I thought it would be! FMV games I don't mind at all actually. At least games with FMV cut scenes. I just needed it to be a bit faster paced.
  3. I just burned though "D" this morning. I thought it was extremely slow and not very good honestly. I started to try Cyberia and just got stuck, same with PO'ed also can't tell what the heck I'm doing and got stuck. I started Gex as well but again am not sure of the entire process for completing the game.
  4. I bought all the custom ones from pboland he even made some on special request. They are killer and a great addition to the collection!
  5. He probably has a massive headache from all these posts am I right? I'll send him a bottle of Advil along with my payment for the cart when they are ready
  6. Dude it's been over a week, I need more reviews! I am happy to see the 3do section of this forum alive and kicking! Unfortunately it looks like I've been the last to comment on a ton of the threads but I am hoping to spark more 3DO interest and discussion since the Jaguar section which I was mainly in seems so harsh and angry all the time!
  7. problem is that if you sign up for the notifications and people come in with random comments or off topic conversations it just barrages your email with notifications of every comment. I think someone put a halt to that a few weeks ago and deleted an entire page of comments that were way off topic. This is an exciting project and many are happy for it either way.
  8. I'm not really sure about the "Because Jaguar". More like because retro gamers will buy anything! What sucks is likely it will be a bunch of the fresh to the Jaguar scene peeps that scoop these up fast and many resellers while those who have been Jaguar enthusiasts for years may have to be on the waiting list when the first batches sell out.
  9. I have D on the Saturn. I imagine it's the same or better graphics. I haven't played it yet
  10. That's too bad you got robbed clean, but pretty awesome if you were able to get a more expensive system out of the deal! As SNES come cheap compared to 3DO systems even back then so you made out pretty well!
  11. For sure. I've seen some lists of Top10 games that have some really shitty ones in it. I do like horror style games tho so anything like that but allows me to save along the way would be great! Btw I finished playing Iron Angel just a bit ago. But that probably had 5-6 hours of my time into it. I also found a speed run video of Myst so I was able to beat that in under 10 minutes for a fun quick play. I guess tomorrow I'll be back at it with some others and if not then move on to the Saturn for some quick play.
  12. Those 2 games come recommended in videos on youtube as being in the top 10 games for the system. I like games with horror aspects and if they are able to be saved along the way so I can pickup and play again after saving and then push forward in the quest that is good! What I have been trying to do to see how long the games are, is look into youtube at "longplay" or "playthrough" videos and see how long the video is. That way I know what's a long vs short game to play. But someone who is really good at a game will obviously finish it quicker and not need cheat codes for lives. Hell for Out of This World (which I would love to play and beat) you can supposedly beat in like 20 minutes but everytime I try to play it I get hit once and die immediately.
  13. I haven't tried Offworld Interceptor for the 3do but have on the Saturn. I kept dying a bunch and couldn't figure out the purpose of the game. But the concept is cool and I had fun bashing around. Today I had a bunch of free time while my son was down so I played around 4 hours of Iron Angel of the Apocalypse. As I had enough time to play something for a while. I got through 25 of 30 levels so I'll likely finish it up in the next few days. Has anyone tried Killing Time and is it a game you can play bits and pieces and come back to is. Same with Escape from Monster Manor?
  14. I do have a wife and a 22 month old son, he is so energetic it's hard to find the time to get away and play anything, usually when he sleeps for a nap during the middle of the day. I tried to play Star Fighter but could not figure out the purpose of what I am supposedly doing and the controls! Definitely tho finding a game I can shop at for 30 minutes to an hour every couple of days and save the progress to eventually complete would be good. I absolutely loved Solar Eclipse for the Sega Saturn so I was happy to buy and try out Total Eclipse, I played maybe an hour's worth last week and got stuck on level 8. That game is challenging for sure as on some levels you have limited hits before you die and have to restart. I wish there was an invincibility code for that game (like there is for Solar Eclipse which was the only way I could beat it after giving up). I need to figure out the gameplay and controls for Star Control 2 as well so i can get further in that game and Star Fighter. I agree on the American Lazer games, I love those, tho they are super finnicky when it comes to hit detection. I really enjoy Mazer but it isnt one that can be played, saved, and then picked back up. The only way to stop the game it to let the time run out on the "continue" clock and the game ends, otherwise its unlimited lives. I started playing some Iron Angel of the Apocalypse and got 9 levels in and am a little stuck. But it allows you to save along the way and pick back up which is great. I think the ETA to finish form what I gathered online is almost 6 hours so I would likely feel accomplished if I complete it! As for Soccer Kid, I played it on the Atari Jaguar and I couldnt get more than 2 levels in. But I did see there are different level codes posted online which could help get a bit further along.
  15. Samurai Showdown is pretty decent but I think I saw that on some other systems. Way of the Warrior I think is only on the 3DO and that one was slow for me. I am not really a fighter game person. I will say the most fun I've had with a fighter game was Fighters Megamix on the Saturn since it incorporates everything from Virtua Fighter and Fighting Vipers both of which are pretty good
  16. Can anyone recommend a few more and list them? I have limited time to play and love getting through games pretty fast when i only have an hour or less to play. Some of the quick turn and burn games would be great.
  17. I was looking into that site last week as well. Since I seem to have some laser issues and the 3DO is getting quite delicate on me I would love to have a USB stick to put everything on and then load from there. Would save the hassle of the discs themselves. And I agree with the comment about increased storage as I would love to have more as well! I used a game guru to delete a file the other day I could not tell what it was and then after deleting it was like SHIT that was a save for a game I was 6 levels in on. I just didn't recognize the code name it was under. On that page the system was crazy overpriced for sure. I wish i had tech knowledge to do this to my Saturn, Dreamcast, 3DO, and then the Jaguar so i wouldn't have to deal with the reading issues.
  18. I 100% agree with your 1, 2, 3 order for fighting games. I was going to say Way of the Warrior was #3 for sure behind those other 2. I have never played BallZ and from what i saw watching it online on youtube I had no interest in it. I have enough fighters on multiple systems I didn't feel like getting more. I'm more down for the games that i can have a good quickplay through.
  19. I haven't looking into Daedalus Encounter as of yet for an acquisition. I want to say its like 4 discs or something crazy like that, which probably explains the price. I did play over an hour of Corpse Killer today and eat the game finally. I feel good about that!
  20. They could, BUT the Jaguar has the best version of Doom and Wolfenstein 3D at least
  21. Fawk me! I thought it was exclusive. Dammit to hell. My bad guys.
  22. One of the games I like for the 3DO that was also on the Saturn is Corpse Killer. Yes I am sure I'll get flamed for that one! But When I checked the wiki page, there was a version planned for the Atari Jaguar CD, but I imagine with the discontinuation of the Jaguar that was probably why they scrapped it. While those games were not successful on those other platforms it would have been nice to see more Jaguar CD games! As for games that are exclusive and could have gone to other systems, I would say Brutal Sports Football, which I find to be quite fun, and then agree with the comments about Iron Soldier. There were similar style games like Iron Soldier on other systems so I guess it would have just flooded the market with more mech games had that happened. I have played Iron Soldier 3 on the Nuon and it's pretty good IMO!
  23. Answering the question have I played the game, no I haven't. As to how hot is Tia, well she was pretty hot back in the day! Wayne's World
  24. BTW I am excited if you want to post a bunch more of these reviews! Make this a Sticky with all the reviews on it would be great. Otherwise just keep adding. I am happy to see action in this 3DO section! I am part of the Atari Jaguar group but there have been a lot of opinionated parties in there. I wish there was also a Sega Saturn section on this forum! (Since there is a Sega Genesis section)
  25. I really enjoy Blade Force. I have only played maybe 3-4 levels in tho because my 3DO started to overheat and was skipping so I had to turn it off, but I got about an hour and a half of play on it. But the graphics are surprisingly good and really do show off what the 3DO can do. I 100% agree with the last part about the repetitive nature of the game. Also I got lost as shit in that game because everything really does look the same. The map wasn't very well created IMO and there were times I killed everything in the level and then just keep flying around not know where the hell I was supposed to go or if there was a boss or exit I was to be looking for! The map doesn't really tell you any specific direction to go for and kind of pissed me off. Unlike the map in Doom or Wolfenstein that are extremely helpful. I also agree with you on the collision detection. However for me, I am fine if the copter doesn't blow up when crashing into things since flying a copter is pretty tough anyways and is likely to happen a lot. I'd probably have to go back and read the intro or watch the opening video to see what the point of the game was. I think there was some sort of drug lord what runs the area or some crap like that.
