The ones I have are Crash n Burn, Myst, Alone in the Dark, and Doom. All are the CDs near mint in their cases. These are the ones that I don't think came in long boxes.
-
I sold off all my long boxes and only have the cd case ones left for sale currently. Been waiting for "watchers" on ebay to finally buy them. Those are some pretty good ones above!

I still think the Jaguar port is the BEST of Wolfenstein, it is glorious! No issues with it at all. The screen flashes from what I remember I haven't played the Jaguar version of Another World as it is ungodly expensive (I have a rom that I can flash to my skunkboard but it will not load for some reason) But the 3DO version seems to be pretty nice, I watched a playthrough and it was only like 25 minutes to beat the whole game so I might just try and give it a go

I hadn't heard of a heating issue either myself, this is the first I have heard of "caps" But I imaging what I am having is a heating issue since it starts to have reading issues once the system has been on for around 45 minutes and the fan starts to get super loud (which I was saying reminds me of when my XBOX360 got the RROD years ago) it would overheat and the fan would start blasting.

I'll still say that the Atari Jaguar port of Wolfenstein 3D is still the BEST port of that game. Also the best port of Doom IMO as well

What is the cap I should look for? I am not sure what a cap is. But I'll take it apart to ight and check! I'll be happy of this is an easy thing to fix vs a disc drive or a laser!
-
I don't even know what a cap is actually. I would LOVE if it is something easy to replace since laser's are impossible to find and shops do not like to work on the 3DO lasers and they are prone to going out, so I hope it is just a "cap" vs a laser issue! Like I mentioned, it seems to happen that it skips and struggles only after it heats up after a while.

That's what I ended up doing, plugging in headphones to the controller. My TV is pretty awesome and has great sound and a sub built into it so my wife had me turn it down so my son could sleep so I said screw it I'll plug in the headphones! Such a great advancement for that console, I wish the Jaguar and the Saturn both had headphone plugins like that so I could play while my son sleeps! it surely was challenging, especially on the boss portions having to mash the fire button to get their meter to go up from green to yellow to red.

For the last week or so my 3DO has been having some laser issues, surprise surprise yet another laser issue with a 3DO! Anyways, there are times it would read fine and other times it will not. Sometimes tho it will work but then start to run really slow, skip, struggle on FMV, and often freeze up and restart the game all together. I find with this, if the system is on for a long time straight (like 45+ minutes in a row) that's when the laser reading starts to struggle, as if the laser getting hot is causing the issues. But the fan is working its on it just gets pretty loud after a while. Maybe if I take the top off the system and let it breathe maybe that will help the issue. This reminds me of when my XBOX360 got the RROD back in 2007, as a result of the unit being on too long the fan would start to get super loud. That's kind of what seems to be happening here, the fan gets louder after maybe 15 minutes of play, but then the unit starts to have reading/skipping issues around 45+ minutes. Is it possible the unit could be overheating or is that also a common problem that causes laser faulting?

oh yeah haha I get so off topic on things! Yeah Burning Soldier was pretty sweet and was fairly short, tho it did take me a few times of dying to restart the levels with a fresh ship to get through it. Also found out if you play on EASY mode when you get to the end of Level 11 it will restart the damn game over and you have to do it on at least NORMAL mode for it to go beyond that point. So after all that work I had to replay levels 1-11 again on normal to make it to level 12 and up.

Oh no I mean I noticed no difference on svideo!

I did the same thing back in July last year, I had bought a set of AV cables from the UK and then ordered one of these cheap AV to HDMI converters off amazon (tho I paid like $18 for mine). I wanted to be able to play it on my 65 inch Panasonic Viera Plasma in my basement. I was very happy with the results, tho it was a tad blurry around the edges at that screen size. But being able to play the jag on a huge tv was a bonus and I really enjoyed it! I did not notice any lag issues either as you mentioned, also no scan lines at all. I too noticed absolutely no difference between 720 and 1080 modes when switched. Mine did come with a super short cable and no AC plug so I used one from an old cell phone also. For anyone wanting to play their Jag on a larger screen these are awesome! Here are some pics I had taken of it on the TV for anyone wanting to compare to whatever they are using:

The Doom port I didn't like, not with the outer bars/frame thing or whatever it is called. I personally really liked the Sega Saturn version tho it gets a lot of flack and I did notice some issues with the visuals on it. I attached a picture I took a few months back the last time I played it and you can see how the monster is see through. I think that was a known issue and a lot of people found it to be unplayable. But hell Doom is such a great game I can enjoy it on any console! I just personally felt the Jaguar was the BEST version but was not a fan of the 3DO version with the frames, Saturn was great tho there were some issues with the visuals

Wow that's a lot of soldering in the picture in that link! Very intense! I retried again last night swapping my 3DO yellow video cable out back and forth with an svideo and I personally saw no difference myself. Either way the 3DO graphics are very pixilated anyways for the time frame so that wouldn't really help that. But I love the nostalgia of playing those bad looking games! I played through and beat Burning Soldier last night (my right thumb was dead afterwards from mashing the fire button on all the bosses) and I was totally fine with the nasty graphics. I like the nasty jaggy graphics of the Saturn as well.

I have played Gex on the Saturn. Is it the same game, graphics the same, or worth it to try on 3DO?
-
so when you did it with an svideo cable it looked good? It might have been a crappy cable as the one I had I found in a box that was not gold and very thin. I will try to test the gold one I found as well and see I that works better. Problem for me will then be that I have 3 svideo ports and 4 consoles needing them! (Saturn, Jaguar, Dreamcast, and 3DO) But since I hardly play the Dreamcast I likely can just pop that to the regular composite port.

I scored an FZ-1 locally from a guy as well as a Nuon player and controller and games from the same guy. I think the FZ-1 is definitely the sexier looking of the 2 versions. I paid $100 with one controller and 5 games (Jurassic Park, Crash N Burn, Doom, Myst, Dragon's Lair, and Alone in the Dark 2). I am happy with the purchase. There is a local store selling an FZ-1 as well for $100 that I saw on Craigslist. I don't need another one or I'd snag it. The prices on ALL retro consoles seems to be going up everything where sucks, since I have seen things online talking about 3DO consoles like 4-5 years ago going from anywhere from $20-50 for a working unit!

Your Favorite 3DO exclusives?
UHATEIT replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in 3DO Interactive Multiplayer
This is an awesome list I will have to look into! I actually really like Quarantine, it's like Crazy Taxi but you get to kill everyone and run them over which is fun! I actually found this out yesterday tho, that it was not necessarily a 3DO exclusive. The Saturn actually had it but in Japan and was called "Death Throttle" which has some slightly better graphics, and most is in English but the text portion when the potential passengers are talking to you. Aside from that you can make it around the game pretty well. I played maybe an hour of Quarantine on Saturday and it was awesome! -
Update on this: from what I could tell, in plugging in the 3DO to the video and swapping over to the yellow regular cable, I noticed no difference at all. I was disappointed But worth a shot for $3 for the cable. When I tried s-video on the Sega Saturn there was a huge difference. When I tried it on the Jaguar there was a slight difference (maybe sharper edges and less red bleed but nothing fantastic). But basically no difference at all on the 3DO for me.

The best pick-up-and-play 3DO games
UHATEIT replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in 3DO Interactive Multiplayer
I am actually surprised, I have NEVER seen anything anywhere reference to Mazer either. I stumbled across it and thought wow this is actually pretty awesome! More people should be in the know about Mazer for sure! -
The best pick-up-and-play 3DO games
UHATEIT replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in 3DO Interactive Multiplayer
For sure Crash N Burn is another one! I like StarBlade but agree that's not a pickup and play type. I will have to looking into Burning Soldier, I have heard of it but never played it. I discovered another one last week that I actually think is pretty fun as well, it is called "Mazer" which has surprisingly good graphics and fun gameplay as well. You can pickup and play and beat levels in under 1 minute most of the time. Also it has endless continues and lives so if you get stuck and keep dying you can replay the levels again and try a new strategy. For a quick pickup game it is great, the only thing that does suck is as you progress there appears to be no save feature for you to turn it off and then come back and retry the level again and again. The furthest I got was up to Level 6 and then there is no way to save from there. You have to just let the "Continue?" timer count down then it will save your high score but the game is over you can't come back to it. Either way super fun and lots of action! -
Some said they were thinking I needed to burn them at 1x or 2x. So I tried that but they didn't work. Depending what you use, I use IMGBurn and before it starts burning when the box pops up and tlls the info about the disc that's where I got that 10x, 16x, and 24x options. So I went with those. I think you're right tho likely the burner can't go down to 1x, most probably can't. Either way I am super happy these finally work for me! I had a fun weekend playing some games I hadn't tried before!

I am using a sort of business style HP laptop. I bought it used and have no idea how old it is, likely fairly old The burner may not even be of good quality. But now that my other laptops do not even have a CD drive or burner for that much, this is my only option. Burning at 10x has helped as burning on the Taiyo Yuden at any other speed seems to skip. I was just playing a game called "Mazer" and got pretty far until it started skipping on the music and then shut off and restarted the game. That was the first burned disc I made at 2x and it was working well until then. I decided to reburn it at the 10X and it seems to run fine now.
